I came here with my husband and two children to go out on the lake in a four seated paddle boat.

We visited on Labour Day to reconnect with nature and decompress a bit…read more As expected the park was very busy but once we started walking on the nature trails, we didn't encounter too many people on our journey around the lake. It was so relaxing walking by the water and through the forest. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold - just right! We walked by many families fishing at the river and also noticed the tree top trekking/zip line above. We want to return to try this next time! There were families having BBQ's at picnic sites which were reserved (guessing you can book them online/through the park ahead of time). They also had a splash pad and pool - wish we brought our bathing suits!! They also had an ice cream truck positioned close to the splash pad and you know we had to get some dipped cones after our hike in the woods. Bring your bills/coins - the truck is cash only. Note, if you have one of the Canada 150 park passes, it does not work for free entry here. For entry for four adults we paid $26. All in all, Heart Lake is a lovely place to visit super close to Brampton.

Excellent neighbourhood park to visit during the fall. Similar to Lake Aquitaine Park in the west,…read morethe "lake" is an artificial stormwater management pond. I personally like it more than Lake Aquitaine which has way too many people. Lake Wabukayne is much more serene and quiet. I really enjoyed the changing leaves and observing the ducks paddling on the lake. Lake Wabukayne Park is interconnected with several other Mississauga parks through a continuous trail, linking Glen Eden Park, Maplewood Park, Lake Aquitaine Park, and Plowman's Park. This would be an excellent route for hiking, jogging, or race training since you can freely choose your distance with no traffic interruption.

Lake Wabukayne is part of the 4km Wabukayne trail, in the Meadowvale area. It was originally a pond…read moreon a farm, and then made into a small man-made storm lake by the city. That being said, it's a pleasant little escape which many would've passed unknowingly within metres driving along Erin Mills Pkwy. They've made a concerted effort to make it an active place for wildlife, so you'll see turtles, ducks, geese, various birds and so on. It has fairly dense tree growth, which provides some good cover in the summer, as well as giving more a sense of being away from it all. The paved trail around the lake itself is less than 1km, and you can probably do it in a 10 minute walk. It's not the type of place you'd come out of your way for, but I know locals must appreciate it since there's even an official "Friends of Wabukayne" preservation group and website. If you happen to be in the area, it's a nice spot to visit. I came across it originally because I was stuck waiting for car repairs at the dealership across the street and found it on my map. It proved to really improve my wait by having such a relaxing spot to read and walk. I don't think it has a designated parking lot, but Meadowvale Community Church's parking lot has an access point to the trail. It's at the back of the lot anyway, and I'm sure if you're respectful, it shouldn't be an issue.
