Not familiar with the area we relied on yelp to guide us to this restaurant. Its in the middle of nowhere, there was 4 of us and we were hungry. We ordered seafood on french, a hot seafood pita, a cold seafood pita, and a french dip. Finished off with a chocolate chip pie and a chocolate chess pie. Omg. This place was spot on the bomb. If you are ever in the area i truly recommend this place. Food was awesome, service was awesome, decor was cute, and food came out quick. This place is a must every time we go back to Columbus. Their comeback sauce is amazing and I love dipping my chips in it. My husband always orders a pb&j (they're magical) as a side with anything on the menu. I love the turkey sandwich (first one on the menu.) Their pies are also sublime! Wow! This place is so cool. It is very much off the beaten path. We got there after the lunch crowd so service was very fast! The server was so friendly and let us try their "kumbac" sauce with chips and it was delicious. I had the seafood salad and it was huge. A large piece of cheddar cheese toast came with it. Thirty years ago, I ate at Proffitt's Porch for the first time-- and it was a life-changing sandwich. This year, we had to evacuate our home in the wake of a storm, and we found ourselves in Columbus, MS. I was dubious that the quality could live up to my memory...but it was exceeded. The service, the ambience, the prices (and VALUE), and the *food* are all so magnificent that it's hard to say just how great this place is. Most restaurants in the area run hot and cold for service, not Proffitt's Porch. Their food is always well made and a pleasure to eat. I went here for lunch during the week. I'm not sure if it is normally busy like that but be careful for the lunchtime rush. I ordered the Reuben which was okay because it was not on Rye. I guess all of their sandwiches are on the same type of bread. Nothing fancy, just a sandwich and chips. However, the view overlooking the lake is amazing. One of our fave spots in town!! Love the outside seating when the weather is nice. The food is always good. There is a water view from the deck and a great sandy beach area for the kids to play while you wait or after eating. And the hummingbirds in Spring/Summer are a must see!!!! read more

First off amazing view. I wish my house had that view. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. I had the French dip which was so good. My husband the red beans and rice. It was ok. I tried it as well. As Louisiana natives we have high expectations and it wasn't bad just not great. Now the pie with the chocolate and walnuts is a must. It was delicious. I wish they served breakfast as I would love to sit out on that porch in the morning with a good breakfast and a cup of hot coffee. Maybe one day they will add that. read more

The staff members were so kind and helpful. We explained that we were first timers and immediately we were brought samples of our waitress' favorite dishes. The red beans and rice were amazing. Worth the visit for the experience. Really back woods, but they have mostly sandwiches, salads and some southern food. The red beans and rice are decent, but from what I can tell the pie is where it is at.
