We purchased a used 2010 Buick from Progressive back in August of this year, hoping for a reliable vehicle. Fast forward barely two months ago, and our purchase broke down completely. After having the car towed to an independent, reputable garage for analysis, we received the shocking news: the vehicle requires a brand-new engine. Progressive claims on their website: "We want every visitor -- online or at the dealership -- to feel welcome, supported, and confident in their vehicle purchase. That's why great customer service is at the heart of everything we do." Except "great customer service" apparently includes selling a vehicle that was clearly a lemon and needed a major, costly repair just weeks after purchase. Where is the support and confidence they promise when we're facing the cost of a new engine? The only thing we feel is regret. Do NOT purchase a used vehicle from Progressive. You will absolutely regret it and end up paying far more than you bargained for when your "new" car breaks down almost immediately. Buyer beware. I needed a car. Not, let's look around and see what is a good place, NOW! So I asked the people around me, I even asked the tow truck driver that towed my blown-up vehicle where to go. All but one said Progressive auto sales. So my BIL gave me a ride, and 2 hours later I was driving an amazing car for an incredible deal. This story doesn't end here. 2 days later, the car would barely turn over. I thought I left the lights on so I called for roadside assistance thru my insurance. The company that showed up used 2, yes 2, jump packs on it and it wouldn't start. So, buying a used car, sold as is, where is, I still called Progressive auto sales. They brought me a brand new battery!. After I put it in... NOTHING. So I called them AGAIN. They asked if I could get it towed to them by roadside assistance, and yes I could. The mechanic they have found that the starter was burned up. He replaced it. You have to take the intake off to get to it! The absolute stunning part was, they did it for FREE. NOT ONE RED CENT! Progressive Auto Sales - My new baby - Car Dealers Near Me - Swanton, Vermont

Scam Artists!!! And good ones too. They sold me a 2002 BMW 325xi for $7000 (when it only booked at $5k "assuming" it was in good condition). The sales rep told me all it needed was a new ball joint and wheel bearing ($500 in fix ups).... What BS.. the Check Engine light came on the first day I owned it and the sales rep played ignorant (obviously they reset the light without fixing the problem before selling the car)!!! I went through 2 years of constant, non-stop break-downs and repairs and almost $5000 in additional costs later the car is completely dead (needs another $2000 to get it running again) and a whole year before my loan is even paid off!! This car had A TON of s*** wrong with it that they didn't tell me about. As it turns out this car had the mileage rolled back a couple times (thanks CarFax history report!). They told me it had 104K on it when I bought it, but it really had about 180K on it!! These guys are lying pieces of s***!!! They should all be in PRISON for scamming people like this. I'm filing a consumer fraud complaint with the Vermont Attorney General's Office. If you've had a bad experience at this used car dealership please call the State of Vermont Attorney General's Office and report them. Update: To the idiot who mentioned me in his review that Yelp properly flagged as "unrecommended"... STFU you obviously know nothing about the BMW E46. Have you ever even driven a BMW? The mileage is stored electronically in the ECU. You can rewrite the area of memory in the ECU where the mileage is stored with easily-downloadable software called "BMW Scanner" you run on your laptop and a USB to OBDII cable you can buy off Amazon.com for $20. Everyone knows this can be done, the question is what kind of shitbag actually does it and sells the car with intent to defraud the buyer? My wife and I bought a vehicle from Progressive Auto Sales approximately 3 weeks ago and we are extremely satisfied with our purchase. The service we received was excellent and the salesman went above and beyond to ensure we found just the right vehicle at the right price. No games, no hassles, just a great experience. I would definitely do business with this establishment again. I have purchased many vehicles over the past 30 years, both new and used, and this was easily one of the best transactions I have been involved with. For those who have had issues with Progressive in the past I offer this advice.....When purchasing a high dollar item like a vehicle, the consumer really needs to do their homework BEFORE the sale is complete, not after. The dealership can only be held responsible for the performance of your vehicle up to a certain point and most business owners will step up and meet you half way in most cases. If you have any doubts about a specific vehicle, don't buy and save yourself a lot of hassle. read more

I wouldnt give it a one star but this site makes you --- SO (short version of the whole story cause there is a lot more than this) -- In less than 16 miles out of the ""dealership"" (if thats what you can call them) - The dash lights up with just about every light you can think of -- Engine light included I took it back the next day- they ""checked and CLEARED"" the codes...(like that fixes the issues) -- fast forward to this Monday-- The breaks locked up caliper was basically frozen and half falling off and the car would not back up or move - WITH MY KID IN THE CAR STRANDED!!! - Took it to my amazing mechanic and he fixed it (where it will be going back to for a FULL workover now)-- took it back to the dealer to see what they were still going to do about the engine light -- oooh ohhh """we dont like unhappy customers""" per the OWNER get it in and we will check it all over -- yeah right all talk when he is in front of you -- so I left it with them today thinking well maybe they will stand behind their sales -- yeah NO -- they put the code reading on it and told me what it said -- THATS IT-- will not fix it will not reimburse me for getting me stranded and the parts i had to put into it.. (per the "office manager" & mechanic -- that is all the owner authorized them to do -- they had the car from 9am to 4:15pm .....HE LIED right to my face that he would "make it right"... Never have I ever been sooo frustrated in my life.. I would love to know how you get an inspection sticker on a car that has all these things wrong with it?? (clear the codes and slap a new inspection sticker on it and wash it so its pretty - pretend its in great shape to sell it --what kind of crook is that (there is also a recall on this vehicle that states it could cause bodily and possibly death if not taken care of)) Cause ya know normal everyday people couldnt get a sticker if they tried!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!! We purchased a car from Progressive Auto in March, right at the beginning of the pandemic. We agreed upon a price and interest rate, reviewed the paperwork and made an appointment to come back the next day to sign the papers. As the sales person RUSHED through the paper work, pointed out where we needed to sign, and unfortunately we made a big mistake and didn't read the paperwork carefully as we assumed there were no changes from the night before. Apparently not, they added a $2000 extended warranty package unbeknownst to us and didn't notice it, signed all the papers and left. We immediately had an issue with the car the following week and was told we purchased the car as is. (funny how a $2,000 warranty appears, yet we bought the car "as is"). When we received the paperwork from the bank the first week in April that is when we saw the amount financed was $2,000 more than we had agreed upon along with a higher interest rate. We immediately called Chris at Progressive and for the next 2 1/2 months received the runaround. We asked to cancel the warranty, was told he did it, yet weeks went by and we discovered Chris never filed the cancellation until I threatened to contact the attorney general. He supplied us with a cancellation request, dated that day. I even called the warranty company and was told it was never filed. Finally, this week - we received a portion of the $2000 rebate. My first suggestion is buy somewhere else, my second suggestion if you do not heed my warning - read your paperwork closely. I have contacted the Attorney General and the Vermont State Dealership Licensing and will not rest until I'm certain they will never take advantage of anyone again. They are crooks with no moral compass - stay away from them. read more
