The service from corporate is horrible! I'm a 66 year old man who has had this company for both home and auto, I sold my home to downsize to 1/4 the sq foot and 5 miles door to door and the company more than doubled the cost of the coverage! Now in another effort to downsize I sold my second car and was told my premiums would go down yet instead they went up! After more than an hour on the phone and 3 agents was quoted and given a " quote number " to make today and the person I spoke to said "oh oh" the quote was in your sons yet they already have all my information and he dosent have insurance with them in another state! So the quote and promised quote number went out the window and adding insult to injury they said they planned to raise me again since I have no bundle policy! read more

This is a scam company (literally - all insurance companies are pretty much scammers). What Progressive is now trying to do is have you "opt into" their data collection program called Snapshot, which supposedly gives them clues or evidence to infer your driving habits (usually highlighting negative things like hard stops and other minor issues). They use this to gather more "evidence" and gain leverage to raise your rates later. Even if you have never filed a single claim, these scammers can still rob you legally by citing all kinds of reasons--such as "inflation," "police tickets," or "records from Snapshot"--to make sure your premium increases every single year. What infuriates me is that when I blocked them from endlessly charging my credit card for adding a driver without my permission, they even disabled the online payment portal and forced me to pay with a debit card, check, or direct bank transfer. At this point, the last resort is to file a claim with the Attorney General and call them out for abusive billing practices. At the very least, I won't let them get away with this easily. All was good until I had to deal with customer service...dismissive and passive aggressive. The had screwed up bigt time, so when the customer service rep got done 'lecturing" and so proud of himself, tore him to pieces by their own mistakes... he stay with his mouth shut! at the end he had no choice but to just say, sorry but that's our policy; which they had violated for 3 years! It's only a $10 per year extra for homeowners but will be switching come July when auto policy renews. Absolute joke of a company. I've been a Progressive auto insurance customer since 2018. My premium with this company has gone up, with zero justification and no explanation offered, every billing cycle for the past 3 years. I'm currently being expected to pay about $600 for 6 months in the billing cycle on my current policy slated to renew August 1st, which is up from $500 last time and $450 from the billing period before. Here's a quote, from Progressive themselves, for a brand new policy, for the same vehicles, drivers, and coverage that I currently have. Make it make sense for a policy for a brand new customer to cost just over half as much as one for a customer who has been with your company for the better part of a decade. I called Progressive a few minutes ago to lay out the facts and explain the stakes: Either they can charge me what they would charge a new customer, or I can look for coverage elsewhere. I was put on hold unannounced for ten minutes until the Progressive representative I spoke to terminated the call. I guess I have my answer. terrible company, been with them for 3+ years never had a problem, called every 6 months got a quote, paid in full, never made a claim... renewed policy in May (paid in full) and they cancelled me in Sept for not signing an email they sent to me which went into my junk folder and did not see, called them and was told even if I paid the internal adjustment of 27.08 differance they can not reinstate my policy, I would lose 2 months of paid in full policy and would still owe the 27.08 and need to rewrite/start a new policy again for another over 800.00. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Also this country no longer has a working (CFPB) consumer financial protection bureau, it was dismantaled in 2025 by our current president =( read more

Lots of miscommunication and extra steps that they make you pay for. They don't care to keep a good relationship, just take your money every way they can. I had a representative tell me I had to start a new policy and I asked why I can't keep my original to add a vehicle when I already had a policy, she said this is the way to do it. Supervisor told me it's my fault. After changing policy, they added excluded drivers fee which I didn't have previously and asking for copies of proof of garaging which I submitted what worked the last time and trying to charge me 153$. This time they required me to get a mail that went past the due date by ONE DAY. This should have been handled much better by their team and not add things that I didn't pay for before. Management is rude and talk rude to you and speaking over you even when I didn't raise my voice and said it was messed up only because it truly is. Last time it was all dropped and handled and I've been with them already but these new requirements of excluding family when you are in your 30s and paying for them is just plain ridiculous and embarrassing on their part to even have this as a fee. this morning i have called and spoke with Kelly very rude and cuts me off while i was speaking telling me i can't remove a driver, i advise her i spoke to someone yesterday and they clearly stated i can remove a drive i just have to speak to the right department, i asked KELLY if she was having a bad day to start with because her attitude was very rude and just mean, this company have been giving me the run around and this is not the first time they do this when i first open a policy with them i explain to them that i am the only on that i driving my call and i am the only one in my insurance, instead they ended up adding my parent on my policy as i clearly proved that they have their own auto insurance. this is just so streeful and unnecessary to deal with. on top of that it is just to damn expensive. unhappy customer read more

But they almost double my rate I am retired and only live on $2400 per month and they are charging me $198 per month on a 30 year old truck . Wife was involved in a grocery store parking lot incident my wife was backing out and a car on the opposite side started backing out at the same time and they bumped into each other. Police was called and did not see it necessary to write a report since both contributed to the accident. The other driver insisted he write a report, which he did. The other driver, who also has Progressive Insurance, filed a claim against my insurance. Progressive took his word stating that my wife was at fault Instead of making their decision on the police report. Paid him for damages based on a photo. All this caused my auto premium to increase over $600 per 6 months. Customer Service is a joke. Spent hours trying to resolve the issue with no success. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. I started my policy in November. Received notice at the end of December that i needed to submit documents and talk with them. I spoke to them beginning of January submitted what they told me to submit and verified my info, and even updated my deductibles. The lady told me all was good and I didn't need to do anything else. Then, I receive a letter in the mail stating my policy had been cancelled. I called, and was told it was because my proof of garaging document was invalid, even tho I used what they told me to use... and she said I needed my current w2. I got that and called back and they said oh no it was actually cancelled because we didn't receive a phone call from you before Jan 13. Well looking at my emails I spoke to them before the 5th. But they said it was the wrong department so it didn't count. How is it my fault that they didn't get me to the right department when I called?! There was no other notice sent besides the cancellation and by the time I received it was already canceled. They refuse to do anything about it. They want me to pay my last bill to this policy and pay a down payment for a new policy. Crazy. read more

I canceled my policy then, my policy was charged anyways. I, got my refund back then a month later. I was double charged, and now they only give me half of my payment back due to tell me that I didn't actually cancel my policy. And after reviewing the tapes from the supervisor it was clearly stated that I did not want to move forward on my policy. But I didn't use the word "cancelation" so they continued to withdraw money. I used the home and auto Bundle for Almost 2 years. During that time, I probably spent something like 24 hours on the phone fixing their mistakes. Repeatedly, they took our payment info and then tried to cancel our policy and told us they did not have it, after more than an hour on the phone setting up payment information. One day in June, our mortgage suddenly increased by 40%. It took us months to figure out what happened, and it turns out that our mortgage escrow company had been unable to verify our homes and shared through progressive. They were not communicating. So we had to pay thousands of dollars and again, be on the phone for hours over the course of a few months to fix it and set up a refund. I finally found the time to switch insurance policies and canceled with progressive, which actually cut my bill in half. On my way out, as a goodbye gift, the agent on the line told me that I would need to pay $250 (for what reason, I don't know). And so then we hung up and she sent me a statement saying that I owed $940. I called them back immediately and was told that they cannot send me a corrected note because... ..."only the computers can do that"(Paraphrased). I think that explains a lot about their customer service. If you care about your sanity, go somewhere else. read more

progressive was the insurance company that was covering my claim. BEWARE do not let them have your car taken to one of their shops. They didn't get my permission or tell me the process before taking my whole car apart for damage to the bumper. the labor costs more and makes it a total loss. They don't care about you but how they can make money from a particular claim. my car was parked and I was hit by a drunk driver who was insured by them. They did not care that I didn't agree to the auto body shop doing the take down of car. the quote of my car was on things not related to accident and was a way to get vehicle deemed total loss. my finance company won't allow me to keep vehicle since it would be a salvage title. i drove my car for 2 months after accident. the car drove fine and I had it looked at. I am a single mom without car and most likely out of a job. upside down on a loan they get to keep car and sell it!!! the price I had to pay for my car parked on my property!!! read more

I wish I could give zero stars because that's what they deserve... charged me $450 for my car policy on the 18th of the month and I called the 19th to cancel the insurance because I found one for 1/2 the price (State Farm btw). instead of getting my whole refund they told me my policy ended on the 28 of the month and that they were going to charge me for that time, originally when I called they told me that my policy, payments and changes would be when I paid the insurance which is the 15th but then they told me that wasn't the case on this and that the reason they changed my time was due to thinking that I wasn't going to leave their services. they suck everyone should call around for quotes and you will find cheaper places I've had 2 family members cancel their insurance so face and found cheaper at other places. and I'm also going to be cancelling my home insurance with them too because for the last year my insurance has going up every 6 months. read more

THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY....I only went to them after having a hard year and massive financial hardship ( I was a USAA customer since joining the military in 2009). THESE.PEOPLE.SUCK...I had my payment come out Aug 1st and I called them to say that I no longer wanted to do business with them since they raised my rates after 1 1/2 years of being quoted at said rate. They then sent me to collections because they claimed I owed another 104 dollars. I continued to tell them they took my last payment and I took my business back to USAA. They said it was for the last month and that I "ended my policy early". It was set to end on the 1st of Sept anyways and are refusing to budge. I am a disabled veteran and single mom and have to pay this off. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. read more
