I met with Gary and Sal and we came up with the fees and started the work. Did I get canceled on or have to wait in the conference room for 15 minutes at times, sure, but that's not why I'm writing this. Once the books were "scrubbed" from the other accountant, the taxes were done. After I received notice that everything was done, I received an email from Gary asking for more money, which took me by surprise since we already worked out pricing. Once I told him I wasn't agreeable to pay more (he should've just told me ahead of time things took longer than expected, although there were never any delays). From that point on it was nothing but unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful attitudes from Gary, Sal & Ana. I tried getting my QuickBooks backup file to avoid paying $800 to have the new firm bring them to date...but Capata is telling me they don't have them. I don't have my own QB software, so were the books even worked on? A chargeback for the amount they charged me for bookkeeping will be next. I speak with a lot of business owners about their frustrations with CPA firms. Do yourself a favor and move on from this nightmare company. **UPDATE** As soon as the reviews went live, we received calls from Managing Partners, Supervisors, and people I never even met at CAPATA. Within 24 hours we had access to our QuickBooks backup files, which is all we wanted in the first place. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE BEEN SLAMMED WITH NEGATIVE REVIEWS FROM CAPATA, BEEN HARRASSED DAILY TO REMOVE OUR NEGATIVE REVIEWS, ETC., If they would've spent a fraction of this time getting my QuickBooks files, we wouldn't be having these issues. Later, they insisted, despite my assurances and protests to the contrary, that I had not paid this bill. I told them I had the bank documents proving that the bill was paid. They still refused to believe me, demanding I pay the bill or be subjected to "late fees" that they would assess to my account. They obviously had done nothing to confirm my payment. I finally was forced to make an appointment to prove to them that I had, in fact, paid the bill. When making the appointment, at first, I was told I could not get a meeting with Mr. Dubois and would only get a meeting with another employee. After insisting firmly, they relented and set up a meeting with Mr. Dubois. At the meeting, at first, Mr. Dubois still held the opinion that I was in arrears. I showed him documentation that they had cashed my check which seemed to frustrate him. He then, begrudgingly, admitted that the debt was paid. I asked for a receipt showing my zero balance, considering what had gone before. At first he refused. After my demand that I receive a receipt, he begrudgingly relented, giving me a handwritten receipt and informing me that I was no longer his client. I agreed with that assessment immediately. Who hires a CPA that cannot keep track of a $400 check? Mr. Dubois and specifically his office manager Beth were very rude and demanding to me, even though I was a present client. In short, I had a very bad experience with this business and cannot recommend them.
