I have been going to Progressive PT for about 4 months now & my pain has improved & I'm very happy with my care I've received. I was previously at UCI PT and had been recommended by one of my doctors to start going here to help with my hypermobility . I also have POTS and mild ME/CFS. Rachel is my physical therapist and from the beginning very thoughtful in her care, I mentioned some of the challenges I have with my ME/CFS & right away she let me know if my light sensitivity was acting up I could do my exercises in one of their rooms with the light turned off & if my fatigue acted up she could show me modifications. I luckily have been doing pretty good so far so I've been able to keep to the exercise plans. I used to get a lot of neck pain from being hyper mobile but after about 2 months my neck pain pretty much is gone it doesn't really act up where previously I was having lots of issues. I also feel like I'm improving more & faster than I did at my last PT place. I'd definitely recommended going here if you need PT. read more

I saw the owner/operator, Michael McKindley. He treated me with physical therapy for bilateral SI joint instability I had for many years. He then referred me to a physician who treats this issue by using non-surgical interventions to tighten and strengthen the SI ligaments. Each time I was scheduled to see the physician for the non-surgical intervention procedure, I would see Michael first that same morning to ensure that my SI joints were in alignment and ready for the procedure prior to driving to the procedure location. After so many failed pt therapists I experienced I finally found a place that has actually helped me find the issue , heal and feel better . Front desk from HELL, It's unfortunate that the care for patients has gone downhill due to the front office staff being rude and lacking the people skills needed to interact with patients. I sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes canceled 2 appointments with potential clients for my small business to try and make my Physical Therapy. If you are looking for friendly, caring staff go elsewhere, I cannot imagine myself or my staff treating our clients in this manner. The texting system they use does not work to notify you for upcoming appointments like all other medical offices do and i have never had a problem with. I let them know about this glitch and they pretty much called me a liar. When i asked them to text me right there and then in the office to prove my point, all of a sudden they did not know how to use the texting system. Today on my second visit they stated they had dropped me as a patient for missing a visit without even notifying me I guess they are too busy to pick up the phone! I'm a busy business owner here in costa mesa and have gone to these guys before after my ACL basketball injury it's unfortunate that due to the front staff the business owner Micheal will lose business not only my future business but from other friends and family I have referred to them over the years. It pains me to leave a one star review but people should be aware of the front office staff. Not that they care due to most of the referrals coming from Drs. offices. I felt the need to express my experience today due to the lack of empathy for myself as a patient and even when I let them know I had no other options currently for physical therapy their attitude was not our problem. read more

Michael completely changed my life! I had lived with chronic back pain for five years. He was my 8th physical therapist in one year. I had tried Accupunture and multiple chiropractors. I went to Michael who was a recommendation from a physician at my husband's work. I had horrible rib pain and pain down my abs and back that really was ruining my quality of life (I couldn't even sleep) . I climb in a gym and practice jiujitsu every week, also I'm the designated heavy-object-mover in my household. As you would expect, there's a lot of strain on my joints, especially my knees. Thankfully, I found my way to Progressive, via one of my fellow climbers, who I am honored to also now have as my physical therapist. Ann worked with me carefully to identify the cause of my knee pain, craft a plan to get it back in shape, and grind out the knots and scar tissue that limit my movement. It's been a few weeks of therapy and I notice a significant difference in my mobility and decrease in pain levels. Looking forward to doing pistol squats again soon! This place has been wonderful for my recovery! I was in tremendous back and hip pain and after a few weeks at Progressive, I'm almost 100% healthy again. My physical therapist Michelle is fantastic. She immediately knew what was wrong and has worked hard to help me recover. The therapy assistants are great at helping me with my exercises and stretches. "Glad to be back" probably isn't the correct phrasing, but I'm a huge fan of the new space! Office is clean and inviting. Lots of light. Equipment is state-of-the-art. Convenient location, lots of parking. When all my spinning, running, surfing, power yoga-ing, 24-hour fitting, skiing, and general OCD-workout regimen (see reviews of local boutique workout establishments) leads me to the inevitable chronic overuse injury, there is no one I trust more than Michael, Jennifer, and the rest of the team at Progressive. They really know their stuff! Great friendly staff and quality personal attention. They take their time diagnosing you and let you know exactly what the treatment plan is and how they think you are progressing during and after each session. I've recovered from a number of chronic injuries thanks to the professionals at Progressive. I wouldn't trust anyone else to get me back in the game after an injury (pun intended). read more

I came to PPT&R with a patella femoral pain syndrome diagnosis from an orthopedist, I had been limping around for almost a month, and I had a 200+ mile backpacking trip planned just 6 weeks out! Moyra gave me an in depth initial check-up, made sure to rule out as many things as possible, and began with an adjustment of my SI joint that immediately improved my pain symptoms. From there I came in approximately 3x/week. Moyra worked in depth with my muscles to remove scar tissue, continued to adjust my SI joint as necessary, gave me exercises that progressed as I became stronger, and when she was gone on vacation, Sean who took over for a week was completely up to speed on my case. Both Sean and Moyra were excellent at answering questions (I had a lot), would take the time to check out certain joints I asked them to, and are just overall very pleasant and easy to be around. I saw consistent improvement throughout my time there (I should say also that I put in the work, making sure to consistently do the exercises at home I was supposed to), and I hiked 235 miles over 20 days, with greater than 46,000 feet in elevation gain (not to mention loss!), with no pain from my previous issue at all! Moyra also called me after my trip to make sure all was well. Front desk is very kind and easy to schedule with, also there are not penalties for missing an appointment. Brought my 75 year old mother-in-law with back and knee pain to see Jennifer last year, and over the following nine months Jennifer helped her tremendously. Jennifer and her team slowly introduced many great exercises that Mom could actually do, worked with us to make sure we could help Mom do them at home, and even had Mom see a knee surgeon once things didn't improve at the rate she was hoping (and the surgeon made the exact diagnosis Jennifer had predicted). Mom has some memory issues, and Jennifer and the whole staff were patient and wonderful with her. Scheduling appointments was incredibly easy. I've worked with multiple other PTs in the area, and Progressive has by far the most availability on short term notice. A few times we had to change appointments only a day or two in advance, and they always found room for Mom in their schedule. Billing was relaxed and easy. I had ACL and meniscus repair with a great surgeon at NOI in March 2017, and I was seeing a different PT group for about 6 months post-op. My progress had stalled, so when I saw my surgeon again for the 6 month checkup, he recommended I go to Michael McKindley at Progressive. I am SO grateful that I followed that suggestion! At our first meeting, Michael sat with me for about an hour describing what he thought the problems were and answered all my questions. He then worked on my knee capsule for about 5 minutes and got several degrees of range of motion that I had not had in months of work at the other PT facility! No one at the other PT facility even mentioned the capsule could be an issue. That's when I knew I had found my PT! I travel for work, so I ended up working with Michael, Sean, and Moira to fit my schedule. All were excellent, and most importantly they communicated with each other so that my care was coordinated and never skipped a beat! I ended up having to have another knee scope to clean out all the scar tissue accumulated from the first 6 months of not making progress, but Michael and the Progressive team were there for me through the entire process. It was a lot of work to get and keep that range of motion, but they got me to the finish line! I now have full range of motion, and I have Michael and the Progressive team to thank for giving me my knee back! Thank you all! My surgeon said to me "For most patients the choice of PT doesn't matter as long as they are credible and the patient does the work. Some patients, however, have complications for any number of reasons, and for those people the choice of PT is CRUCIAL." Apparently, he sends those patients (like me) to Michael. If you want to save yourself the trouble of second surgeries, pain, time, and expense, you might want to consider going to Michael and the Progressive team first. read more

Michael is an expert at fixing SI joint issues. My orthopedic doctor referred me to him a few years back and he has been fixing me ever since that time. I am a runner and "overdoer" in my 50's so Michael puts my SI joint back in place. He develops a therapy program to get the joint stable again which will hold it until I do something stupid again. I am now working with a trainer at the facility to enhance my core stability and keep me on track. This office has a great team of people that are upbeat, positive and encouraging. I almost hate it when I am all better because I miss the "good vibes". I have been to other places where the employees are just going through the motions but this place the whole staff really cares about the patients. read more

Due to their work on and with me I finished ahead of schedule and 100% recovered. They rehabbed my shoulder after torn rotator cuff and labrum surgery and work on my knee.
