I am 66 years old and had never been to physical therapy. I partially tore the tendon connecting my patella to my hamstring, and Newport Orthopedic included Costa Mesa Physical Therapy (CMPT) on their list of recommended therapy centers. Travis and his team were terrific. They made sure they thoroughly understood the nature of my injury and proceeded accordingly. Initially the pain level was acute and the range of motion tiny: they worked on areas adjacent to the wound to decrease swelling and increase mobility. When it was appropriate, they gently pushed me beyond my comfort zone to hasten the healing. I expected it would be months before I got back on a bicycle, but they did it in weeks. They got me back to fully functioning (at least as fully functioning as a 66 year old like me gets). Where do I begin?... I am so very thankful that I was referred to Amit and his team at Costa Mesa Physical Therapy. My story was a 6-year very painful and very emotional journey that I never anticipated going through after having a really bad neck and shoulder work-related injury in 2018 that landed me in the ER having drastically affected the quality of my life. I never recovered from it until now, all thanks to Amit and his wonderful team! I had spent years and tears (literally) seeking out professional medical help through various doctors having x-rays and other treatments done, but no one could not find the problem of why my injury would not heal and why my agonizing chronic pain would not go away. Amit and his team are excellent and I have proof! 1) Amit saw my daughter and worked with her for years from about the ages of 8-12. She has juvenile arthritis and had some surgerys on her knees and foot. She could not walk that well and could not even run. It was heart-braking to see her not enjoy normal kid activities. Amit started working with her and she's now an active teenager playing waterpolo, golf, waterskiing, running etc. We owe a lot to Amit and his team since he definitely got her back to being a normal kid doing whatever she wants! 2) If that wasn't enough, I've been going to him for months on a shoulder issue that he has solved about 90% so far and I'm also back to normal physical workouts. I had a total knee replacement in May 2017. I met with Amet, based on a recommendation, 3 weeks prior to my surgery, and he evaluated my pre surgical condition. These guys are awesome! After being rear ended, I had severe whiplash. It was extremely difficult to find physical therapist close by my work, who had early/late flexible hours. Many of the other places I got in contact with said that I had to wait 1-2 weeks for an appointment. Costa Mesa Physical Therapy had me come in the same day. They have only been in the location for about 7 months, so everything is in excellent condition. They make sure to keep equipment clean and sterile. There are also two private rooms. And the best part is they are contracted with Cigna! Travis and Amit are the owners/ physical therapists, Meredith is the acupuncturist, and Emily is the physical therapy aide. All of them are friendly and genuinely care about making you feel better. (for all the acupuncture skeptics, it may take a while to see results from acupuncture, but if you stick with it, it honestly will change your life!) I suffered a complete rupture of my pec major tendon (tore my chest muscle off it's insertion point into the upper arm). I was lucky enough to find an amazing surgeon (Dr. Michael Shepard, Orthopaedic Specialty Institute) who referred me to Costa Mesa Physical Therapy after my surgery. With his excellent work and the top-notch physical therapy provided by Travis, Amit, and their team, I have made consistent gains. Three months after the surgery I had rebuilt my shoulder and pec to the point that I could engage in shadow boxing and pistol shooting competitions. Five months after the surgery I was able to attend yoga classes and to (very carefully) begin drilling techniques in jiu jitsu with a partner (but not sparring). I'm giving it a full year before I start rolling (sparring) in jiu jitsu again, but my point is that the repair and the recovery exceeded my expectations. I've previously done physical therapy at a different group for a back problem, and the difference was night and day. These guys care about their patients and they know their stuff. It's been almost seven months since the surgery and my shoulder is about 90% of what it was before the injury and although my insurance has run out I fully expect to return my chest and shoulder to 100% within the next few months using the techniques I learned at Costa Mesa Physical Therapy. read more

No one ever wants to run into a physical therapy office...actually in my case I couldn't run, or walk when I first started coming here. It all started on a rainy saturday morning walking my 1 year old pitbull. I slipped in mud & fell right over him, which felt like colliding with a brick walk. I ended up with the most severe ankle sprain I've ever had; bruising, swelling (looked like elephantiasis), cast, wheelchair, crutches, you name it. Came in on a doctor referral and I'm so thankful for CMPT's knowledge, caring, patience and expertise. The majority of the time, I worked with Taylor and Travis and they were both wonderful. I learned a lot of great exercises for my weak ankles. Taylor pushed me but never made me do more then I could. I'll be forever grateful to them both! I love this team and this place. Honestly wish I could've been sent here after an old injury. The team is incredible and is always making sure to challenge you to make you better and stronger.
