But if you are looking for a place to sharpen your character while you sharpen your skills, Sharpen Iron Academy (SIA) in Plano is in a league of its own. At SIA, you aren't just a number; the professors know you by name and are genuinely vested in your success both on and off the mat. This is a culture of discipline, accountability, and mentorship where the "iron sharpens iron" philosophy is lived daily. Whether it's the kids' classes, the youth program, or the specialized women-only classes, there is a deep level of trust and a guaranteed safe space for every student. It is more than a gym--it is a community and a family where you are pushed to grow in a supportive, high-level environment.

Their Godfather helped me research studios and after reading the CV for their head instructor Professor Henrique it was time to give it a shot. They had a lot of fun during the trial class, but they were nervous to start, not wanting to be away from Mom even though I was only three feet off the mat. Thankfully SIA instructors are not only skilled at keeping students engaged during training, but are very family centered, patient and caring. They were able to connect with each one of my kiddos so that they felt comfortable training as I looked on. By parent teacher conferences in February their preschool teacher let me know that both had grown so much in maturity and confidence and was curious to know what I was doing differently. Almost two years later the twins are well adjusted, focused and always happy when they step off the mat after an hour training session. Professor Henrique, Professor Lucas, Professor Matheus, Coach Queila, Coach Enrique, Coach Ian, Coach Ella, and Coach Anthony have become family and there is no other place I would have my children be twice a week. They offer adult classes in the morning and evening and several of the parents after seeing the transformation in their own children have started to earn their stripes as well.

My son was 5 when he started at BTT. We feel lucky our neighbors introduced us to this place…read more I cannot recommend BTT, especially the leadership at BTT, strongly enough. Misty, Kyle, and Professor Machado work tirelessly with these children (who enter at many different levels and with a myriad of issues) to not only give them the fundamentals of self discipline and JiuJitsu, but also to encourage them to be good, brave little humans. It is remarkable. The structure of these classes is a perfect blend of regiment (e.g. laps, jumping jacks, basic moves), some play (fun game that requires some focus like "Red Light, Green Light"), and training that is appropriate for children. I have seen each of these individuals (and the older kids, who are occassionaly asked to help as well) give special attention to the kiddo that is being too hard on himself, or the kiddo that just cannot get herself to do a back roll, or the kiddo that is bouncing off the walls. They really care about kids and believe in what they are doing. My suggestion? Meet these amazing people, let your kiddo try JiuJitsu, and see for yourself.

Huh, I just read the other review by Jingfei H after coming here to post my own bad experience and…read morenow it makes so much sense. I signed up for a class here on ClassPass and was also treated rudely for no reason, I guess now I realize it's because I am a woman? This instructor here is a clown and so up his own ass he should teach contortionist lessons. He wouldn't teach me at all and was totally dismissive, he literally told me to go find someone else in class so he could sit off into space on the side in silence. Last time I checked my money was the same as anyone else, if your studio only wants to accept men/professionals, etc then make that clear on the website or class description instead of wasting everyone's time. The tagline on google says "Saekson Janjira Muay Thai is located in the heart of North Dallas, bringing the most authentic Muay Thai to Texas. Classes for kids, adults and fighters." maybe put an asterisk there and say "no women or beginners" mmkay?

I was working out on my own and (I didn't know they're was a dress code.) He got pissed at me for not following the dress code. He began to press me without asking any questions. He told me I was disrespectful and disgusting. Maybe we stepped on the wrong foot but he lost a potential fighter... I'm never going back again. He seems money hungry. But overall the students are very nice and welcoming but HIM not so much. I recommend Next generation MMA.
