I absolutely love this spot since new ownership revamped the food menu. I really appreciate that there are gluten free & dairy free options! The cocktails have remained incredible and consistent. There are even more bourbon selections. My only complaint as far as drinks is they do not have any NA options or mocktails. Feels like a missed opportunity. We really enjoyed the patio this summer and love that it is dog friendly. Zayne from Blue Spectrum plays here often, which is just one more reason we love to come! read more

I was in a party of 7 adults and 1. Hild. There were only 2 other patrons while I was there. The place was absolutely not busy. Everyone in my party ordered at the same time. After what I would consider a reasonable time the other members of my party received their meals and started to eat. After another 20 minutes or so the se4ver yelled a ross thet my order was being worked on. I responded that I no longer wanted the meal. 10 minutes late as I was just getting redy to walk out the server set my meal on the table. I tried to tell the server I did not want the meal but she ignored.me again. I pushed the plate away and rathe than make a scene I walked out. We went here for date night. So glad we did. Hands down one of the best meals we have had in a long time. I got the Boursin pasta and my husband got the bbq pork Mac and cheese. Both were delicious. We got the steak sliders for an appetizer, also amazing. For drinks I got a French 75 and my husband got an old fashioned. Both amazing! Here we go, trying something new and different. The Prohibition Gastro Pub was a diamond in the rough with food. The Steak Sliders were so delicious and flavorful with onions, red peppers and melted cheese on Hawaiian rolls. They just melt in your mouth. Korean Chicken Bowl was spicy and plentiful. Service was kind of slow with Chris (bartender) covering more tables inside and outside on patio, plus training someone new. The place is very unique with plenty of parking around nearby. My husband and I checked out Prohibition Gastro Lounge in Powell for a little date night, and overall, it was a great experience! The vibe inside is pretty casual and loud, we ended up sitting on the patio since the weather was perfect, and I'm glad we did. We started with cocktails, I had the Tequila 75, and my husband went with a Long Island Iced Tea. Both drinks were good, though I wouldn't have minded them being just a bit stronger. For appetizers, we ordered the Korean chicken and truffle fries. I thought the Korean chicken was going to be wings, but it came boneless, not mad at it though! They were fried perfectly and the sauce was sooo good. The truffle fries were regular fries with an aioli and honestly delicious. For dinner, my husband got the Mongolian steak bowl, and I had the lemon shrimp pasta. His bowl was super flavorful, tender steak, tasty rice, veggies, everything hit the mark. But let me tell you... the pasta? OMG. light, creamy, just the right amount of lemon, and the shrimp were fried perfectly. Probably one of the best pastas I've had in a long time. Our waiter was great too, they were bust but he was attentive and friendly. All of our food came out in a reasonable time. I attended an in person training at work and they organized a private event here. The event was held in the private area in the back. It may have been a garage at one time. It's surrounded by outdoor seating and is really cozy. And we got to meet a reptile (some type of lizard) who was housed out there. The alcohol pours were generous. The food was spread out on tables parallel to the entrance. It was difficult to navigate at times because people are in line and following the U-shape and someone wants to enter. The person entering breaks through the line while the people in line juggle their appetizer sized plates loaded with food. The variety of food options was good. Date night in downtown Powell. We were quickly seated upstairs. The waitress was very pleasant, and took our orders. The first round of drinks took 10 minutes to be delivered. We ordered food next. We asked for a second round and after 15 minutes of waiting, we went downstairs to get them. After waiting 55 minutes for our food to be delivered we over heard the table next to us saying their food just delivered was cold. We paid for our drinks and left to find an alternate place to eat. We love prohibition! The food is always so good. My husband has ordered the Mac and cheese with Korean fried chicken every time and refuses to try anything else. I love their salads and apps. The upstairs has an amazing setup for watching sports and we love talking to the people working. Everyone is so kind and upbeat. The only tweaks I would make would be to upgrade the cable so that people can watch more than one game upstairs. There are a ton of TVs but they all have to play the same channel which seemed odd. If you're looking for a no frills fun lounge with live music, go to Prohibition Gastro lounge. The service is friendly and the food is pretty good as well. Regarding the food, we decided to share their starters. The Korean fried chicken was very good -- it is lightly breaded and tossed in their Gochujang sauce. The dish is very large and definitely not what you'd expect from an appetizer/starter. The warm pretzels starters were very nice as well and coupled well with their spicy cheese sauce. The ground beef meatballs came topped with tomato ketchup and brown sugar. I'm a big meatball fan but the ketchup didn't work as well with it. It wasn't bad, but not great. I was not sure what to expect after reading some of the other reviews, so dinner here really exceeded my expectations. Our server was so great and I took both of her recommendations. She did not steer me wrong on either the pear flatbread or the pineapple martini. The flatbread comes on a cauliflower crust but don't let that scare you away. It was light and crispy and tasted just like pizza crust. It was the perfect serving size to feel full without feeling stuffed. If you like french fries, they have several kinds of "loaded" fries on the menu. Sounds like a good reason to come back again. I had a fun, easy night out at Prohibition with some friends last week. Parking is a little tricky - it's in downtown Powell and on a Saturday night with great weather, everybody wants to be out! I was seated right away in their cute little barn, in one of the lounge areas (a couch and two arm chairs around a low table). Our first thought was that we wanted to move to a proper table, but that couch was NICE. Like, I want it in my home nice. We were right next to the LIVE MUSIC that they had that evening, which was a friendly guy taking requests and playing acoustic guitar. He had some great versions/covers of a variety of music and we really enjoyed the performance. My friend highly recommends their Palomas (her favorite drink) and we all got one. They were fruity and refreshing. Next up was food - our little table was loaded, but we were not giving up that couch. We had the Jumbo Fried Shrimp to share - they were really good! The shrimp were juicy and they were flash fried, I think, with a good dipping sauce. I had the specialty tacos - 3 good sized and very full chicken fajita tacos. Everything was well cooked and they were very tasty. I appreciate how full they were. Along with the tacos, I had their fries. These were some seriously awesome fries, cut more like a steak fry with crunchy ends. I ate more than I should have. Everyone else's dinner looked great, too, particularly the pear flatbread. My group all had a great time, the weather was perfect, and we were comfortable and enjoyed our food and drinks. I would for sure go back! (Do I say that about everything? The Food is the star here along with a good selection of alcoholic beverages. The servers are very friendly and come over several times to check on us and make sure we all were satisfied with everything. But the food has just what I go for along with service . The new owners really want people to have a great experience. And the outside patio area comes with an enclosed porch which is as relaxing an atmosphere as one could ask for at a restaurant which serves high end alcoholic beverages. I stopped by Prohibition Gastro Lounge for the first time and loved it. I can't believe I haven't been here before. They have a great selection of drinks and the food was exceptional. I had the Korean Fried Chicken which were delicious hand-cut chicken tenders, lightly breaded and tossed in Gochujang sauce (Sweet, Spicy, Savory) and topped with crispy garlic, sesame seed, and green onions. These tenders were incredible!!!!!! Besides a bar and a couple tables on the first floor, they have a much larger room on the second floor with a great selection of drinks along with an outdoor seating area. If your looking for a place with a good selection of drinks and truly unique food, I highly recommend trying out Prohibition Gastro Lounge. read more

Appealing restaurant with a cozy ambiance. We did not sit outside due to there being a wait and we had to be somewhere, so we sat at the bar. The bar tender was friendly. My husband ordered an old fashioned cocktail and was disappointed that it was a pre-made drink rather than mixed upon order, especially for the price. I had a glass of the Pinot Noir, which was very palatable. The food menu looked bleak and the gluten free options were confusing - I didn't ask about some of them as the bar tender seemed a little overwhelmed, but for example they had fish & chips listed as gluten free and the Korean fried chicken, but again I didn't ask about their GF toppings on these items. We shared an order of pork fries and Brussel Sprouts. They were both delicious. We also do not like online menus. I feel that a restaurant trying to be upscale should use physical menus. After reading the good reviews on this place it is now clear that it was bad service to me. I decided to meet some friends in downtown Powell as I just moved to the area a year ago. We saw this place closed at 12am and so we thought it would be a great place to have some drinks and enjoy our self a bit late. We first went to a place across the street the street which by the way was also a little passive when we walked in. Yes, it was 9:30 pm when we arrived and they closed at 11pm, maybe they don't want business in the last hour and half. Not sure, any way We had a few drinks and decided to leave and go to Prohibition as it was original plan. This was literally 10:55pm. When we arrived front door was locked, although there was people there. With the Bartender ignoring us and door closed, we gave it the benefit of the doubt maybe is a private gathering. We looked at google and yelp to make sure it did closed at 12. Sure did, that is what it says.We decided hey maybe this part is closed let's go to the back since there were lots of people there, fire pit and a bar outside and a bar inside with cute decorations and just seem the right place for a last hour of some drinks and fun. When we got there some young didn't even look 21 kid said oh we're closing, I proceeded to say oh yelp & google both says 12am. He said maybe if you go to the bar inside they will sale you a drink, so still trying not to let it ruin our night, we went to the bar. There was an older lady with a very unpleasant attitude who proceeded to look at us up and down and moved her head like yes?! So I said can we please have 2 drink , she answered well we are closed but sure I can get you one drink and that is it. I told her, oh really Yelp and google both say you close at 12am. She said well we don't. Serve the drink, charged us, didn't even give us cocktail napkins or anything. Two people came after and she served drinks with no problem. We went to sit to this cute couch by the entrance of what it looks like a fixed garage to make it like a lounge feeling, trying to enjoy our drink. Which by the way was not free. Since we didn't get any napkins I went to ask and she was acting like she didn't know what I was talking about gave me some paper towels like the ones you use in bathroom. Cool, we still ignored her passive vibe and decide to just have our drink. She comes by a bit after to tell us that that area was gonna be closing down and if we wanted to, we can go by the fire pit for last minutes but that they we're gonna close that little area. Again, just trying to enjoy our we paid for drink and the night out, we moved to the fire pit. This was around 11:25 PM. She didn't say anything to the other couple that walked in after us, she was sitting by the bar, having a drink with a couple of other people, that Little area never close. It looked like there was just hanging out, at that point, it was very clear that the unwelcoming passive attitude was toward me and my guest. We finished our drink and decided to leave roughly around 11:50pm Super disappointed because we really wanted it to start getting to know the area that we moved to, where can we have some free time here and enjoy your dinner, nice strings and just go home. Unprofessional, passive, and unwelcoming attitude, makes it very difficult to wanna go back and spend your money there. Could be the color of my skin, who knows. It really felt that way. Please do better, I wasn't asking for free food or drinks. We were very respectful and all we want to do was have fun. PS please see photo attached to this review. I need to thank the owner of this establishment for his kindness, I'll apologize I didn't catch your name, my mother fell Sunday evening while crossing Powell Rd to enter a neighboring restaurant, this owner came over to check on my mother and see if he could help. We had a reservation and he walked us into the other restaurant and made sure they knew we needed some ice and that she had just fallen. She ended up breaking her wrist and was bruised but ok. The service here is terrible. Walked in at 6:50, told 20 min wait. Hostess I don't think knows what day it is. In the 40 mins, 1 couple before us got seated. 2 groups came in after us and got seated before us. 1 complained he didn't want to wait and he knew someone. Magically he got sat. Other couple was clearly on after us but now she's forgotten who we are after ordering drinks and sitting for 45 minutes. Stay away. This is ridiculous. When confronted the hostess tried to feed us a line that they were waiting somewhere else before. Um we are 5 feet away and can hear everything. We left. Prohibition is the best bar in Powell. It has many great liquors available. The prices are pretty reasonable. It has a good bar area. There's also more private areas upstairs. I had a gin and tonic. It's about $6 which isn't bad. They have the good stuff like Tanqueray. It also has a lineup of custom cocktails. These can get kind of pricey. If you're hungry they also have some food. There's just not much for vegetarians. It has some salads but they don't sound exciting. They also have typical bar stuff like pretzels. The atmosphere is pretty fun. It has a prohibition theme going on. There aren't any TVs in the main bar area so it's not a place to see any sports. read more
