I've always felt that most people could probably do a better job of donating to the needy...and…read morethat this was the best way to take care of our neighbors in need. When I was a kid I knew a couple of kids in school who had a 'Big Brother' and I thought this particular program was great. At least back then it was a successful way of showing kids heading down the wrong path a better direction. When you don't have a role model in your life this program would provide one for you. Things were simpler back then I guess. Anyway, when this location became a donation site for Big Brothers Big Sisters it became our primary location for donations. They take just about everything here-Clothes, sporting goods, books, toys, and I think they even take small furniture...large furniture has to be picked up at your curb, probably best if by appointment. What I like about this place is that it is ONLY a collection site...no sales here, just drop off and get a receipt. The ladies that work here are also all pretty nice.

Big Brothers Big Sisters - Donation Pick-up I like donating,…read morethe items I donate are all in most excellent condition and I like believing that someone can benefit by them. BUT - BBBS - not a good choice~ These folks are totally unreliable. It's not taken into consideration that perhaps you are not allowed to leave boxes and bags on your driveway or by the front door (community rules), nor that it is not safe to do so - this is a great attraction to burglars. It's not taken into consideration that you are doing them a service by donating so that they can make money to support their organization. The pickup confirmation says by 7AM - that's it, as I said, if you can't leave it out you are then stuck at home until they show up. If they show up. They frequently do not. The answering machine for their office says nothing about no one being in the office to answer calls on the weekend, they just let you sit on hold or opt for a call out. Not through yet, when they do show up it's usually one person, not able to handle anything that might be heavy. So, it's up to you to help if you want everything gone.
