The Project Management Academy Boot Camp is great. I had tried taking some other online training and gotten nowhere in 3 years. I went into the boot camp with very little knowledge of true project management terminology and processes. I wish I had taken the pre-assessment to demonstrate how much I gained in the four day course, but I came out with a 79% on the mock exam, knowing I only really needed to brush up on a few things to pass the actual exam. Jim Higgins was an excellent instructor, and one of the things I appreciated most was his ability to keep class members from taking the class "into the weeds." It is a fully interactive class, and I've been a part of similar classes in the past that got off track very quickly with that many people asking questions. Jim kept the class moving forward and concentrating on the needed information to pass the exam. After the boot camp, I took the practice exams 4 times, and used some of the other material that PMA had online and it helped immensely. When all is said and done I passed the exam on the first try 5 1/2 weeks after the boot camp. I attended the July 2021 virtual class with John Dokos. John is a very good instructor. Great and clear explanations from him on sometimes hard concepts to grasp. Not only is he a great instructor, but he has great real-life experience which is a great asset when it comes to explaining hard concepts. Russ Thornley was the instructor. The boot camp by its very nature involves covering a lot of material and learning activities in a 36-hour time frame. Russ had a good sense of pacing and kept us engaged in the material. The course was very helpful in preparing me for the PMP exam, providing a good overview and framework, which was a bit hard to do when I was previously attempting to study the PMBOK Guide alone. I really liked the Training Guide we received too. It contains every slide in the course and I could refer back at any time. The course design is pro. I would've given this course a 5, but I didn't like the Holiday Inn venue in downtown SLC though - a lot of distracting noise from the hall outside the training room, uncomfortable seats, and you had to pay $15 extra daily for parking. read more

I took the PMP Boot Camp class from the PMA in April of 2017. My instructor was Roxanne Booth. Roxanne was (is) an excellent instructor who was able to take this material and apply it to my every day work. She used real-world, understandable examples when my own work had no easy comparable. She took our (the class) input as to the timing and length of breaks and lunch, while maintaining the requirements of the class as far as hours needed. At the end of the class, she effectively made the case for taking the PMP Exam as a benefit to my career. Without Roxanne and this class, I do not think I would have considered taking the exam, let alone passing it. She (and the course) made that big a difference. read more

I took this course after finding all the good reviews online. I wanted to find the best boot camp to help prepare me for the daunting PMP exam. I took it in Salt Lake over the course of 2 weekends, which was extremely convenient. Russ Thornley was the instructor, and was exclellent! I passed my exam today, just two weeks after the course with Russ. I spent plenty of time using the PMA study matierials and practice exams, and they were very helpful. However, I can honestly say the single most helpful preparation tool was the boot camp. It will likely not be enough on its own for most to pass the PMP exam, but it will help tremendously! I took the virtual PMP Bootcamp with John Dokos the first week in November and earned my CAPM on the first try the first week in December. John did a great job familiarizing me with the PMBOK and helping focus my attention on the things I needed to pass my exam. He was very responsive to questions and his shared personal experience helped to make the concepts we were learning understandable. The class definitely takes a lot of attention and study time but in the end was the reason I was able to pass my exam. It was excellent.The Project Management Academy materials were very well organized and perfect for a classroom setting. The PMBOK is not set up for classroom learning. The instructor, John Dokos, is by far the best trainer I have taken a course from. He demonstrated mastery of the subject in an easy to digest manner which he matched with real world experiences that highlighted critical course content. I passed on my first try. My instructor John D was amazing. The class was good review of all the material. I attempted my exam 3 weeks after the class. The material including the laminated handouts and the online course quizzes, mockups and class tested were really helpful. I passed on my first try!!!!!! Because of PMA and the support of my instructor Michael Steele I was able to pass the PMP on my first attempt. I attended the PMP Boot Camp. The instructor, Russ Thornley, gave us a good tour through the unique vocabulary and organization of the PMBOK. Although I have some reasonable experience as a project manager, I don't think I would be able to pass the PMP exam without the insight that Russ gave us.
