My husband is 86 yrs. old/still working. June 4, he was given a typed order for three basic blood draws and the instruction area was blank meaning to him he did not have to fast for 12 hours. Due to his schedule, it took him some weeks to go to this lab. We have two other physicians in this same building, so naturally, his leaning was to use this lab. We've used it many times in the past, some good visits, some not-so-good. He arrived with his paperwork. He was turned away by the receptionist and told that he needed to fast before having the blood draw. There were no instructions typewritten by our endocrinologist to fast. They said basically to him, their reasoning: "Well, we LIKE to have as many patients fast for 12 hours no matter what the blood order says in case we miss something". He got home, we called the endocrinologist who said definitely no fasting was needed. Her office was to call the lab to clarify. Next day, yesterday, he returns to this same lab with same paperwork - THIS TIME: The receptionist let him go through to the phlebotomist, who prepared to do the draw, she looked at the paperwork and said, "Oh, my! I can only take two of the three blood draws here, the other one needs to be taken on July 15th! - this review is being typed on July 8th, the order was given to him June 4th, and there he stood with his mouth open wondering what in the devil they meant. The phlebotomist took his order from him, never gave him a copy, and told him they "needed it" for their files, therefore rendering him incapable of taking that order to any other lab should he desire to do so. We called the endocrinologist's office again. This time we were told - "No, there is no need to have this blood draw done on July 15th, the doctor needs it sooner than that, and besides that there are no instructions written on this order to imply that directive either. Why don't you simply come into OUR office - we have a lab of our own, it is in our system under your name and date of birth, and let's get it done". Now, he has to wait until July 20th when he sees his urologist in a building in back of the building the endocrinologist is located in, get the blood draw first and then go to his urologist. This lab is always crowded and always SLOW! Go somewhere else! Do not use this lab. The registration has 1 older lady today who is so slow, she has called 1 name in 15 minutes. The techs play computer games between patients. They forgot to give my husband his colon rectal screening kit and we had to make an extra trip back to lab. I hate using this lab!! read more

I went in for a lab this morning, sat there for an hour in the waiting room, and left without getting it done.
