Tynis is the boss of piano repairs. When my Steinway was ruined during my move up to the PNW, Tynis came highly recommended directly from the Steinway folks in the Seattle location. I was a piano teacher for over a decade and a professional classical musician by trade, so my standards for who gets to work on my piano are insanely high. I was skeptical that anyone could fix my piano, and a little wary because it's a 1929 Steinway with the original Chippendale Mahogany cabinetry. Moreover, my piano is a sentimental item: I started my teaching career on it. But sure enough, Tynis told me what he could do and couldn't do, and then he got to work. It was so easy from the very beginning, not to mention how friendly and personable he is. A month later, Tynis delivered my piano good as new. He even came all the way to my home from his showroom to make sure the move and the piano were in stellar condition. I could hardly believe that it had ever been damaged. I'm long overdue on this recommendation but long story short, I will never trust anyone other than Tynis to work on my piano ever again. We had him restore a few pieces of our piano in Snohomish, he came out and gave us a fair estimate, and he is very honest and a master of his craft. We had Tynis fix a few blemishes and chips on our upright Baldwin, which has sentimental value, and he treated it like his own. I decided to surprise my wife by having her inherited grandmothers 1930's baby grand piano restored. Tynis/Promet Restoration came highly recommended from our piano tuner and after a few discussions with Tynis and a more than fair quote, I decided to move ahead with his services. As this was a surprise, I needed everything from the moving of the piano, the timing of delivery and of course the quality of the restoration to be perfect (not to mention a bit stealthy to keep this from my wife). The final result blew away my expectations and ended up being a very emotional experience for my wife. His attention to detail was over the top! He was able to replicate the original color of the piano and apply the appropriate finish to a highly sun damaged and scratched finish that we had inherited.
