The Historic Johnson Farm is a great place to explore. They offer guided tours of the house at…read more10:30 am on weekdays. But if you go at other times, you can take self-guided tours of the outside buildings, trails, and see the animals. There are QR codes to scan as you go along. The Farm and properties are owned by the Henderson County Public School System. When you arrive, there is free parking in the parking lot. I took the guided tour as I enjoy seeing the architecture of older buildings so when I discovered this property, I had to check it out. I had a private tour. The house was built in 1876. The house took four years to build. Bricks were made of clay from the French Broad River. The bricks did not all look the same so a stucco layer was added on top and white lines painted to make it look like normal bricks. The house has a lot of original furniture and mementos. The woodwork inside is high quality. The house and property are well cared for and in great condition. There are 7 fireplaces, and each has a unique mantle and beautiful cabinetry. The kitchen was once separate from the house, but it was moved at some point to become part of the house. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was used as a boarding house, and folks would come spend their summers year after year. A boarding house was added to the property in 1923 and is now the home of Heritage Weavers and Fiber Artists. They were having a class while I was there. When Vernon & Leander died, they left the property to Henderson County Public Schools. They wanted and hoped that the property would educate others. The brothers are said to have been ahead of their time and used alternative farming and energy. The Historic Johnson Farm is doing exactly what the brothers had hoped and is a great addition to Henersonville, whether you want to tour the farm or walk the trails and see the animals.

You can know when I'm taking a class because I can't stop giggling with joy. I have found so much growth in diving into my sensuality, in doing things I never imagined I'd have the strength for, and simply being myself and no one else. No one is watching to judge, only to cheer you on. I had a breakthrough the other day when I didn't believe I could climb the pole. I admitted my brain was telling me that I wasn't the sort of person that can do these things. I had tears in my eyes and before I knew it I was surrounded by the other girls in the class cheering me on...and I did it! Forever grateful for this family. My son is 1 and absolutely loves this place and his daycare teachers! He is always SO excited to…read moresee them! As a first time mom, I was nervous about leaving my child in any commercial daycare. That worry went away quickly after I saw how much his teachers cared for and about him. He is a little spitfire that has a tendency to get sick. His teachers always tell me when he seems like he isn't acting like himself, if he gets the slightest fever, when he gets hurt, or even has unusual diapers. They always tell me how his day was, what he ate, how long his naps were, if he has a diaper rash, if he bumped his head, and all other things, big and small. Their communication is excellent and I have never had a problem with that. They call me during the day, while I'm at work, if something happened and is severe enough that he needs to be picked up. But if there was a minor incident (head bump, for example), and they can handle it on their campus, with their RN, then they don't interrupt me at work and tell me about it at pick up (which I appreciate since I am a teacher and it is hard to take phone calls during the day). He has been there through many nap and bottle schedule changes, and developmental advances, and his teachers have always done an excellent job adapting to any changes that I request. I have never had an issue with his teachers not following any special instruction that I give to them. They are excellent teachers and I highly recommend this daycare.

PLEASE DO NOT send your children to this daycare‼They ALWAYS have openings. The staff is terrible…read more They do not dress appropriate for Day Care workers. No one has credentials! This place is dirty dark and dingy. They have bugs. The only thing the children learn to do is to fight. The teachers do not teach them anything else. Two of the teachers literally got into a fist fight in front of the children. Screaming and shouting profanity is not what I want my child to hear. Beware if you have to deal with Alicia D. she's the owners best friend and her attitude is terrible. The workers at this Day Care are very judgmental. They do show favoritism with the children. I can go on and on, but I really want to warn parents about the dangers in this Daycare. This Daycare also closes if it rains hard, the water goes out. The GAS heat goes out constantly and you are still required to pay if the daycare is closed. It's just not a safe environment for children and to be honest they really need to be shut down!!! Please don't let the good reviews fool you Most of them are from the actual workers.
