First, if you want a good idea of what your testing experience will be like, check out this video: https://youtu.be/1kK-QuuZeuw While this video wasn't taken at the DC center, it is very much the same layout, decor, computers, etc. The testing center is what you can expect it to be, a quiet and somewhat secluded space with a few workstations where you take your test. Security is tight, you will have to check-in at the lobby security guard, who will then direct you to the elevator that takes you to the Pearson suite. Once in the testing center, you will have your picture taken and your palm vein scanned. The palm vein gets scanned every time you enter and exit the testing room, including breaks. Be advised that if you do need to use the restroom during a break: the restrooms are located outside the testing center in the hallway. You will need to borrow a key from the front-desk in order to use it. While the restrooms are a short distance away, keep in mind that you do lose about a minute of your break just having to walk to and from the restroom. There are two employees at the test center, one at the front desk to check you in and one who is the "proctor": s/he is stationed outside the testing room and can monitor each test taker through a large glass window and video cameras. When I took my test the first time, I would agree with the other reviews that both test employees were very strict and followed the rules to the dotted i. They weren't nice and didn't smile at all. I felt that one step out of line would have had me kicked out of my test. But on my second visit, I encountered two different employees who were the opposite: they were both laid back and very friendly. They were still professional and certainly harped on the rules, but they didn't do it in a condescending sort of way. It was as if they understood that you were stressed out about your test, and they wanted to make you feel comfortable. So overall, I would say that your testing experience might vary based on the testing center employees you get and how their attitudes are. Pearson's primary competitor in computerized-testing is Prometric. I took a different test before at a Prometric center (not in the DC area though) and I can say that Pearson is a lot better. At the Prometric center, I had to wait 45 minutes(!) from my scheduled appointment time before I was even seated at a computer to begin my test. The Prometric center was setup completedly different from Pearson, with the center stuffed with I'd estimate 30-40 test takers sitting in a large cube farm (the Pearson center seats about 12 max, I recall). The Prometric center was definitely not run very well, which certainly added to my testing anxiety. I can therefore give Pearson credit for at least managing their test center much more professionally and sanely. At the end, I would give the Pearson testing center 4 stars. One star off simply for the restroom situation, and maybe for the inconsistency of the staff's attitudes. But, compared to the Prometric testing center I think Pearson is very good at keeping everything organized and professional. Just one less thing to worry about on test day.

The staff does not deviate from protocol or their required scripts unless you ask a question. I wasn't allowed to wear my Nike rain jacket because they said it would make a swoosh sound, but they offered me jackets that had been left at the facility "months ago." I didn't like that the testing center has a weird "musty basement" smell. I like that this testing center is pretty small compared to others I've went to. There's less than 20 computers in the room and they're all against the wall so you're in your own zone. My test lasted 2 fairly quiet hours. When I finished the proctor didn't tell me if I passed or failed but have a little smile that was reassuring. I would come back to this test center because of the small space and testing privacy of the cubicles.

I receive disability accommodations for testing, and have previously dealt with Pearson Vue for my initial license; during that first experience in 2022-2023, I experienced NO issues at all. It was simple to schedule and even reschedule my test by contacting the company by phone. Now, in 2026, the experience has completely changed. I was initially told to use an online form to schedule with Pearson Vue, and after submitting it twice within a two week period, I assumed that the form link must have been broken, as no one ever responded. Then I tried calling using the phone number in the scheduling email; I called multiple times and each time waited for over 30 minutes for someone to answer, and no one ever did. I resorted to contacting my professional licensing organization to figure out how to proceed. I have now been back and forth between Pearson Vue and my professional licensing organization by email OVER and OVER again; each time my licensing organization contacted Pearson Vue, I would get a response within the hour. However, Pearson Vue did not take into account my indicated needs for scheduling based on the limitations of my work schedule ~ I said the same thing over and over again, and they disregarded that, offering me days of the week for testing that were outside of my clearly indicated parameters. Each time I declined a testing day that was not on the day of the week I need, they tossed me back into the cue, and this process has been continuing for WEEKS at this point. If I did not have testing accommodations, it seems that I could simply select a date from an online scheduling system and be done. This absurd process so far has been beyond frustrating, and something has gone WAY downhill with Pearson Vue. Finally today after contacting my professional organization AGAIN, I got an offer that met my parameters, and was told to CALL by phone to confirm... which I attempted to do, but again, I waited 30 minutes without anyone ever answering the call, so I have attempted to confirm by email. What is even more frustrating is that my offered testing date is more than FIVE months away. By that time it will have been nearly a year since I started the process of submitting my materials for this licensure test. What a racket!!! At this point, I can't WAIT to pass this test and never have to engage with Pearson Vue ever again. They are the absolute worst.

I took the NCLEX (Nursing Board Exam) here recently and was pleasantly surprised to find the staff…read moreat Pearson Professional Centers to be extremely well organized, efficient,while not not at all lacking in warmth. They'll kindly greet you with a hospitable demeanor to set you at ease (which is exactly what right before a big exam to calm the nerves). The facility is located on the fifth floor (turn right as you exit the elevators and go straight to the end of the hall) in a tall greyish glass building that sits next to one that looks identical to it. It is very clean, tidy, new, quiet, and really all you can expect from a testing center minus a candy bowl. They have a coat rack for you to hang your jacket on during the exam and stringent security procedures. You'll be assigned a locker, asked to turn your cell phone completely off and all your belongings including watches, large bracelets, purses, scarves, etc. will go into the locker which you won't have access to during the exam. Just before you enter the exam room you'll be offered tissues, ear plugs, and the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the test. Once in the test room which is kept very quiet, each person is seated in an assigned booth with a firm, but comfortable and adjustable chair (for those of you whose exams last several hours) as well as sound reducing head phones (complete with their own sanitation coverings), and a laminated wet-erase card to use if you need to write anything down. For the NCLEX you can take as many breaks as you'd like, but the clock will keep running and you'll have to show your ID and do a simple palm scan each time you exit and enter. Terrible location!!!! I came to take my exam on saturday,…read more7/25/2026 & I was not informed prior to my exam that there will be no parking in garage on Saturday's. The parking garage staff was very rude. The Pearson Staff was rude & basically put me under a lot of stress before my exam. I had to rush to find parking that was still questionable about my car being towed. The staff had no patience for someone who is coming to take an exam. They did not try to make things easier & stress free. Also, me & multiple test takers were locked out from the main door for a few minutes which also caused stress on us. I'm so upset this happened and I hope you all do better! The woman who walked me into my exam was the only person who treated me like a human being! Since he started Kumon, he established good work habits while he is doing Math and Reading everyday. I am very pleased that he is much more confident at school. My older kid who is 7th grade, taking Algebra Honors course at school. He started Kumon at beginning of this year because he is making careless mistakes at school. Because his lack of Math drill, he started Kumon on much lower level but he is catching up fast now. I am very confident that Kumon will be beneficial for both of boys and looking forward to see my kids improvement over the summer.

We scheduled an assessment and appointment about a 5 days in advance (they are very busy and this was the earliest we could get). We arrived for our assessment, and our daughter was taken back to complete it. We waited outside (due to coiv.... very understandable). No one explained the process to us, just gave us some paperwork to fill out and review while we waited for our daughter's assessment to be completed. Once she was done, we had to ask what we needed to do next. after some confusion, someone told us we could wait inside. Then we waited, 20 mins (mind you, there were no chairs, just a window to lean on). We asked if we were waiting for someone, and they said, yes, someone would be out to talk with us shortly. We waited another 10 mins, and asked again what exactly we were waiting for, and they said someone would be with us. After another 10 mins, we gave up and left. We were set up for a 1 hour appointment, and left with our kid having only done a 10 min assessment in that time. They just seemed really unorganized and extremely busy. Not the best impression to make when seeking this kind of service. Parents should be aware that you cannot drop off your kid and return at the end of class... you must wait outside or in your car. The only plus was that our daughter said her assessor was really nice.

This story is about a black substitute teacher. It was 1:00 PM. That was the time just written in the logout book. The substitute teacher then gave his ID badge to a short elderly white woman admin. He left the office and proceeded to the front waiting area. While in the area, he noticed that the gym students were doing some type of test so they were not in their normal PE clothes. The teacher never spoke to nor interacted with anyone during this time. It had been about 5 minutes since the teacher had left the office. The same woman he had given his ID badge to cam up to him and said that he had to sit down by the front door or wait outside. He told her that he would do no such thing and that he worked for FCPS Fairfax County Public Schools and he knew that was not a requirement of its employees. He then said that the woman was racially harassing him and that he recognized her behaviour as such. The "lady" leaves and no more than 5 minutes later police officer comes over to the teacher and asks him to leave or wait outside. He can tell that the officer is only doing what was requested of him. The teacher again refuses to leave. No more than 5 minutes go by and again 2 assistant principals arrive to continue the harassment of the teacher. They tell him he is creating a disturbance. He disagrees. In the middle of their arguing the teachers ride called and he leaves mid-argument. He had a teacher request him for the next day. The students, "Respect and like you." was her rationale for asking him to sub her science class. But he knew that the racist white admins at Luther Jackson would, and did, prevent him from ever subbing at his alma matter again. Luther Jackson is a less than ideal environment for black children. They have no support from the culturally incompetent and racist white people that make the decisions there.
