The new Tyson's Plaza is the coolest thing to happen to the DMV! The Plaza is the outdoors space,…read morepart lawn and filled with fountains (depending on the season), complete with a kid's playground right next to the new Shake Shack, human-sized chess and checkers game boards, and lots of really futuristic, comfy seating spaces! The Plaza also connects a few buildings, including the Tyson's Corner Mall Itself, Lord and Taylor's upstairs, the office building which just happens to be where I work sometimes :D, and eventually will also connect the new apartments, the Tyson's Metro, the new hotel, a restaurant or two, and I'm sure way more!! This space is not only cool because it serves as a great connection space (literally), but it is also used as a concert and movie space on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively! I actually saw Andy Grammer in concert with friends here just a couple weeks ago. It was awesome! I really look forward to seeing what else will pop up in or around The Plaza, but I'm sure it will be nothing less than fabulous!

It's called the "OLD firehouse" so it is an older structure. My only grip was that there was very little parking. If you find yourself the last one out in the game of musical cars, you will have to dangerously back your car out. Unless your in a fiat/mini, there's no chance you can make a u-turn to go find parking. You also cannot park in the strip mall next door, even though it has ample free parking./

My kids were here for just over 3 weeks, since this Friday, and while they enjoyed the start of summer camp, too many changes came up and after speaking with the director, who wasn't open to hearing from any parents it seemed, I took them out. I enjoyed their teachers, but my kids just didn't get into the program, which was very very surprising. 5 and 12, and tragically bored and unentertained, apparently. The art was good, but just not their type of camp, they weren't having fun. Not to mention the rude interaction with the director. Not for us.

I've been to Oak Mont, Providence, Audrey Moore…read more Amenities: -pool - ranging from 0 to 12 ft deep, has ~10 lanes, during the day though there are often classes or team practice, so best to do lap swimming during the day -locker room - showers, separate family or senior changing rooms (4x) -hot tub -sauna -cardio equipment - treadmill, ellipticals, bikes -indoor track -weight room - dumbbells, machines, squat rack -basketball court/pickleball court -pilates studio - no sure if you have to pay extra but there was a class going on when I looked in -various dance style rooms for classes Where to put your stuff -there are generally a lot of open cubbies throughout the facility -any lockers will require a quarter, you can't use your own lock --wish they would change them to normal lockers -bleachers in the pool area and basketball court -some chairs at the ends of the pool lanes Cleanliness/Overall Experience -dry land (yes I am a swimmer) equipment and areas seem to be pretty clean -swimming - ok if you swim in the early mornings, but lanes are a bit narrow and you will likely have to share. If you are a lap swimmer, it will be tough getting a lane in the evening -locker rooms - eh ok for a public facility like this but expect mold, hair, and other gunk in showers. Definitely lots of room for improvement for shower cleanliness -staff have been warm and helpful -value - their membership does allow you to use all the Fairfax rec centers, so if you do that, then it is a decent value. Still a struggle if you are a lap swimmer like myself. If they could have better cleaning in their facilities and more dedicated time to lap swimmers then it would be an amazing value.
