It has been highly disappointing trying to to work with Prominence since January 1st. When we signed up in December, it was understood their benefits card could be used in local stores (WalMart, CVS, etc.). After the new year started, we learned the hard way (by taking scanned items showing as "verified" using the Prominence/&more app to the cash register) that local stores were actually not an option. The card transaction was denied at the register. We learned since that purchases from their online store were the only option available (at 3 or 4 times the price elsewhere, and with expiration dates unreasonably close on some items. Other items came in broken packaging). One of two benefits cards in our household didn't work at all online until after three calls to "&more" (card services) in an effort to resolve the issue. It finally worked, but it took three calls totaling well over an hour of time. Most recently, we had a series of physical therapy sessions approved and that approval communicated to both the physical therapy services provider as well as to us through a phone call. After completing a few of those "approved" sessions, the Explanation of Benefits came in the mail indicating the sessions coverage denied. We are currently uncertain what that outcome will be. Since we are not yet three full months into the year of Prominence coverage, we don't have any confidence the rest of the year will get any better. read more

Everything costs 4x its value. $34 for a bottle of Jergens body lotion that can be purchased for $8.50 at Walmart. $6.00 for a single bar of soap. $23 for a can of salmon. $19 for a box of cereal. I have had Prominence Medicare Advantage Plan (Prominence Plus) for years. Was very happy with them but then they made changes to their mail in pharmacy from Birdi to Amazon and I refuse to use them for my scripts as I refuse to give just anyone my cell number. So I went back to getting the scripts from Walmart. Now they made severe changes to their OTC card which is now $62.50 for groceries, and $62.50 for OTC which you have to get online through Medline, which is "Out Of Stock" on half of it's inventory on any given day and the prices for their quantities offered is beyond ridiculous. They have made me so mad, that I am now currently exploring going to Senior Care Plus for next year 2027 and beyond. I have also complained to them and sent them a letter in both quarters this year so far about their crappy changes. I doubt it will make any difference but we have other options people. Do your due diligence. I know both SCP and Prominence accept my doctors group so I can change and not be bothered anbout that issue which makes a big difference in selecting a plan. read more

Promenience has decided to drop Carson Valley Medical which includes my physician Dr. Easley. This is absolutely absurd. My question is why? This will affect 2700+ seniors. For people who live in Carson Valley and count on the facilities here we will have no other choice but to drive into Reno. I have never had so much trouble/problems with any insurance company, and I am in my 70s now! Prominence is the worst of the worst. --.After being in the hospital, getting released, and receiving a denial of services letter when I got home. This is just one of the many, many problems. Then, I had cancer on my calf, and I had to go to Wound Care until my wound healed. I was told my co-pay was $25; I was told that the co-pay should have been $20, so I overpaid $5 for each of the 15 visits. (They owe me)! When I went recently to the doctor, while checking in... I was told I owed Northern Nevada/Prominence $180! (THEY OWE ME) for Wound Care, how embarrassing it was for me when she held up the line at the doctor's office with a woman behind the counter demanding that I pay my bill (that I do "not" owe!) of $180. When I told her I did not owe anything to Promenience/Northern Nevada, she asked me if I would like to take care of it today ($180). When I repeated that I owed nothing, she then asked if I could at least make a payment towards what I owed! I told her I did not owe anything to Promenience/Northern Nevada; I have been to Promenience many times and have asked them to correct this. I have an agent who, for several weeks, has said they would get this fixed, but nothing is being done by the agent or anyone else!!! My FICO score is 800; if they ruin it over this lie, I will pay hell. I am leaving this horrible Medicare Advantage Plan... Senior Care Plus will be a lot better! Also, they owe me for my overpayments. (I have the receipts showing I overpaid.) They are trying to get paid double, working the system. Prominence/Northern Nevada is NOT trustworthy! I made a switch from AARP Medicare advantage to Prominence for 2024 because I needed different coverage which wasn't available in my old plan. My deductibles are much lower and the benefits are terrific. I used several Lyft rides (unlimited) covered by Prominence for Dr and Medical facility appointments this year. You just call their main number and they arrange your rides based on your needs (and returns if you request them). My experience has been positive for both coverage and travel. Recently I spoke with their Pharmacy department to negotiate a lower copay for a medication I could not afford, and I received their help in lowering the copay so I could pick up my medication. I have had top quality interactions with everyone at Prominence and highly recommend their coverage. I did my homework to check my medications and doctors for copays and had to make a few adjustments for my PCP and Specialists care in my current home town (Reno). They have an office at 1510 Meadow Wood Lane in Reno if you want to speak with someone direct about your healthcare needs. read more

It includes Teladoc which provides expert assistance with any health care issues over the phone for free. It includes Doctoroo which provides urgent care at home with no copays. Its OTC Network benefit includes $90 per quarter in over-the-counter meds, supplements, and other related items. It also includes $60 per month in healthy food for free. It has a broad range of providers in the Reno NV area. This is much better than the Humana plan we had previously. read more

Their MA plan is VERY sketchy. To lure you in, Prominence claims they offer dental. I went online to NO DENTIST WITHIN 50 MILES of me. I actually had to go further put to find ONLY 1 dentist--rates 2 stars--& has HORRIBLE ratings. Earlier this year, went to their network Podiatrist. We decided to remove my bad toenails. I left. 3 weeks later, Prominence sends me approval to get this done by a completely new, different Doc. WTF. Was that to dissuade me from getting this operation done? Have them save some money? Only last year, they offered me a OTC card $60food allowance/month & $90 for medical goods/month. This year, they decreased it down to just $110for all--QUARTERLY. WTF??!! Nothing gets cheaper year after year; the benefits should have gone up or atleast stayed the same. F' Prominence. Then, I am harassed by phone constantly, every year to get the tests THEY WANT me to get. I am sure Prominence gets $$$$ from Medicare trust fund--subsidies when their customers get these certain tests done. It's NOT to help the customer! These are tests that really have nothing to do with me or my history. I was diagnosed with hip arthritis in one leg. Neither the PA nor Ortho doc suggested I try red light/infrared therapy for my pain. Swift Institute is their network. Everyone there tries to push me to get the usual cortisone shot. When I saw my Doc, he put through a request to see the "specially trained" Doc for that shot. I waited & waited & never received any response from Prominence that I was approved. This is part of MA'S "Delay & Deny," system. Fortunately I use infrared light from Day 1 and I'm walking with virtually no pain. No help from either the Doc or Prominence. I am having nightmares just thinking about the hassle and nightmare and probably "Denied" claims I will be getting, once I'm scheduled for this operation. Their OTC card for extra food/health items is a scam. Last year, '24, my card gave me $60/month allowance for food and $90/month for healthcare items. Now, '25, my total allowance has been severely cut to just $110 for both food & healthcare items QUARTERLY. I expect this benefit to be gone by next year entirely because greedy CEOs are constantly looking for new ways to "save" on customer care and put more of our $$$$$ into their profits. All MA plans stink. Prominence is just one more that steals $80-$120 BILLION from OUR Medicare trust fund EVERY year. read more

Their "customer service" is like every where else these days, abysmal. Second year they send a gift card that doesn't work. Spend 20 minutes requesting a check. Can they do that, oh, hell no. Way, way, way too simple. The healthcare is no better. They paraded my husband around to specialists for over six months, and not one of them addressed the problem he originally went in for. I've been with Prominence Medicare advantage for two years now. I have had no problems with them denying any claims like some of these reviews claim. I have always had positive & pleasant experiences with their customer Service agents, have never had any problem reaching them. I think their benefits are top notch. I like to compare other insurance companies plans to mine every year at renewal time, just to see what they offer, & what the reviews say. I was surprised to see as many negative reviews about Prominence as I did, because none of those reflect my experience at all. All of the other Medicare advantage plans reviews I've read are worse though. This just confirms to me that I have the best plan out there. I have no complaints. I'm just gonna tip toe back out of here & carry on with Prominence, with fingers crossed & knock on wood that nothing goes South. Customer service people lie. & Tell you what they think you want to hear just to get you off the phone. After multiple calls & being told someone from the leadership team will call me by Friday, no one calls. No one at Prominence returns calls. It is Friday after 5pm & I have not heard from anyone in leadership. I posted a negative review on Google 3 days ago & have received only a request for a private message with my contact information. **Beware** Please go online before signing up with Prominence!! They are a nightmare! From all I read, anyone who tries to get the surgery or tests they need are often rejected by Prominence, even after being approved. They delay payment to whatever hospital/doctors you may see and are an infamous deadbeat insurance company. This makes my stomach turn! They have been my Medicare (Dis)Advantage insurance choice for several years now. Never really used it for more than just annual lab tests until now. I have a specialist I am scheduled to see next week, but after reading how HORRIBLE their billing dept is, I fear getting a bill that's screwed up & this insurance co apparently doesn't do anything to help getting it paid!?! Being on a fixed income, I can't allow this ins co to screw with me! I will find another ins co for 2024 & will wait it out. I have only used this ins for the annual Medicare-recommended tests. The in-network dr's office I go to is always overworked, phones busy, busy, busy! And confusion reigns there as one dept doesn't know what the other dept is doing. And once I arrive, my doctor is always horribly late, a hour or more! EX: I saw my PCP. He recommended the annual lab tests but no one there told me where I to go for those tests! It's a nightmare dealing with ppl who should have the answers but don't. When I called cust serv @ Prominemce, they also weren't sure where I was to go, either! I ended up taking the info from 5 years old lab work to figure out where I needed to go. It shouldn't be this difficult. I recent hurt myself. I saw my PCP that same day--good, but I had to wait for his referral. I got a strange letter telling me a few days later who I needed to call in case they don't call me. THEY SHOULD HAVE. No excuse not to! So, I waited 1 week, & I called the number on the letter. It was to a place called Swift Institute. I made an appt, gave them all my contact info. They sent me a patient portal online. I never received any professional notification from Prominence acknowledging my PCP's referral to Swift, & Swift isn't listed as an in-network facility. Reading all the negative reviews of how much "bait&switch," and denial of payment notices,& poor communication this insurance company has because they outsource their approval system, I refuse to now see this specialist. I will wait until 10/15 & find another insurance company for next year. I KNOW Prominence is going to mess me up like they do with so many of their other customers! read more

Prominence Health plan has been the health plan that has been the most difficult plan to work with by far out of any insurance I've had. It seems like they just automatically deny all claims and expect you to get a notice months after the date of service and explain why it should have been paid out. Wow, I don't know where to begin. I have never had such a positive, caring experience from medical care. Gabby called to follow up on how I was doing after an ER visit. Very nice to start. Then I shared how I was having a hard time finding an earlier doctor appt for follow up. And time is of the essence. I talked to Gabby at 4:45. She right away tried to get me help! Prominence HMO and PPO is a complete failure of health insurance. It's a common belief that any insurance is better than none, but if you have the option to choose this in Las Vegas, you're better off paying more money out of pocket rather than paying less with Prominence. It's extremely limited in terms of who you can see in Las Vegas, and there are significant delays whenever referrals are involved. Normally, this would be standard as I've had Health Plan of Nevada before and am used to waiting. However, Prominence is a complete joke. They're really good at denying almost everything and not being accepted in many places. All my medications were denied, and all my referrals to specialists for procedures were denied. Please heed my warning. I'm taking the time to warn anyone who might have googled and ended up on this website researching whether they should consider getting Prominence. Don't do it. read more

As a member with Prominence for the past 15 years having never been faced with needing to rely on an approval and the shuffling of paperwork in an effort to receive care. I am receiving a brutal education on patient care being a last priority. I have followed the necessary protocols and am faced with going through the Emergency Room as my only option to seek care. The number of hoops required to jump through is ridiculous and not patient centric. Avenues to appeal, escalate or receive any further information related to providing a coarse of action were answered with an unwillingness to provide any further direction, other than the statement of my authorization denial. We started with St Mary's, the predecessor to Prominence, over 20 years ago. At that time, they were a pretty good insurance company. Boy have things changed! Not only have the benefits decreased, the payments and deductibles increased but they are simply not paying for anything. There seem to be constant paperwork glitches on their part for what should be covered, in-network expenses. I am still fighting for them to pay pre-approved bill from over a year ago. As for out of network, even if you can get approval, the most they will pay is the "Medicare Rate" if they pay at all. The bottom line is that Prominence health plan is not worth the money you pay for it. I have always been very pro-insurance. But frankly, if Prominence is your only choice then don't bother. Save your money and negotiate directly with your providers. It will actually be less stressful then dealing with Prominence. If we had done that when Prominence started to circle the drain, we be at least a $100K ahead of where we are now. read more
