Getting a tattoo is an intensely personal experience, especially for perfectionistic Type-A people…read more Before getting my first large-scale piece, I did A LOT of shopping around St. Louis. I did at least 5 consults at different local shops, and even branched out to the Chicago area, thinking it would be worth the drive to get the permanent work that I'd be happy looking at every day. The consults ranged from 'meh, I'd settle for this' to 'wow, they don't get my idea AT ALL' to downright freaking rude. Little did I know, *my* place was hiding in Benton Park. A coworker heard I was not having success finding an artist, and suggested I reach out to Lucky Cat, where he had had one of his tattoos done. I emailed Amelia, set up a consult, and sent her my artwork. Literally from the first 5 minutes we spoke, I knew she understood the vibe, thought it was a badass tattoo, and that we would get along like friends. When you're doing a big piece, you sit for hours and hours while this other human inflicts pain on your body. Also, did I mention tattoos are hella expensive? Well, all that is to say, it was worth every second and every cent. I trusted Lucky Cat (and Amelia) with my artwork and vision, and was NOT disappointed. Shit, did I get lucky. Since that first sleeve, I've been back several times, and covered both arms. I've also got 2 beautiful thigh pieces from another artist there, Aidan Monahan, and I'm in love with them. I'm a HUGE fan of Amanda's art, and hope to get a piece done by her someday too. As far as the space itself, it's super comfortable, super clean, and very easy to spend multiple hours in. They also have a really cool gallery space attached, and frequently hold popup events supporting other local artists. They're honestly a St. Louis gem, and we should feel incredibly happy they put roots down in this little space.

I saw Amelia here. She is friendly and helpful and will not make you feel pressured. The atmosphere…read moreof the shop is very welcoming and inviting. The tattoo area itself is an open space but they do have privacy curtains should you desire them. It's also probably one of he most well-lit tattoo parlors that I've been in. Be aware that wait times here can be long depending on which artist you wish to see, but in my opinion it's worth it. This is also one of the only majority-female tattoo parlors in the Saint Louis area.
