Tracy did my nails this time, and she did a fantastic job. Last time I went to another place for the same colored French tip style and the tips were not even, and the lines were not sharp. Tracy listened to what I didn't like about my last nail and gave me exactly what I wanted. I've also had Cody do my nails a few times, and he's done a great job as well. I went to this place because many reviews talked about Tracy and how good she is; well I definitely didn't get that experience. I was 5 mins early for my appt time and I was only getting dip powder on my nails which only takes an hour, well 2 hours later still in the salon. She was not personable at all or engaging with me at all. Apparently they are "old school" and don't do foil wraps she instead put both of my hands in a bowl with acetone to help remove my dip I originally had on. Literally I was sitting for an hour just for that; NEVER, literally NEVER had to sit that long for that; she claims the powder was too thick but the person who put it on I've been to her more than once and it's not taking an hour to remove the powder. Also the way the salon is set up how she left me to soak off my nails, my back is facing the front so if something were to happen or take place in the salon I have to literally turn around and get out my seat to see. Tracy stayed away the entire time my nails were soaked, answering phones, doing nails, toes or whatever with other customers and so I thought that was rude. There was a girl who came in before me, got her nails done and paid for them and was gone before I was in worked on. Then when she decided to work on my nails, it was like she was busy handing other stuff too, answering her iPhone watch for people who called, getting up assisting people, it was really frustrating to me. Also, I mentioned how I wanted my nails and she made them super sharp which is not at all what I had in mind(or wanted) but because she was was rushing and doing numerous tasks and I didn't have anymore patience after 2 hours, I didn't even let her know. It literally felt like I was in sweatshop. Whatever happened to building a rapport with new people so you can have a relationship with them, I guess it's out the window. Needless to say perhaps she is different with her go to people but it wasn't a great experience. I will not be back; already booked an appointment with someone else to see he will be my new nail person. You would think it would not be so hard because my nails are really basic but I obviously can't seem to find the right person for the job here in Gainesville. It was honestly the worst pedicure i have ever gotten. I couldve done a better job than this. I was waiting for my feet to dry and the lady said "time to pay" and had me go pay instead of waiting to dry. Nail polish was all over my cuticles and BUNCHING as if simeone tried to stretch the polish. My nails were not filed and polish covered 2/3 of the nail on some of them. My experience started out great. My pedicure was absolutely fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The pedicurist offered me water and took excellent care of my feet. I asked for rose gold polish for my toes and she created it for me. The foot, ankle and calf scrub and massages were incredible. My pedicure was a five star experience. I asked the nail tech for mood changing shimmering pink polish for my nails using the dipping method with a point shaped nails. It was a mess. I thought I was getting almond shaped nail but what I received was too drastic and not a gradual point. The nail tech and Ms. Tracy, I believe that's what I heard someone called her, were speaking in their native language 90 miles-a-minute excessively all over me and powdery substance was all over the area and floating in the air. The other customers next to me were looking over at situation with puzzled looks on their faces. One of the patrons next to me eyes stretched and she said she was going to try the dipping method but not anymore. I had a gut feeling that the nail tech and Ms. Tracy were discussing this botched job back and forth the whole time. I really felt like I was in for a huge disappointment, and I was right. There were lumps, clumps and bumps all over my nails and I was getting more and more anxious and aggravated at this point where the excessive native language speaking stopped. The pedicurist looked over at me and I asked her is it supposed to look like this, and she said it's part of the process and my nails will end up looking beautiful. Well, my fingernails look like an amateur did them and it cost me $45 and an enormous waste of time. The dipping substance is on my cuticles looking like glue. They set me up for failure, talked about it amongst themselves, and didn't care so it was zero-star treatment for this part of the experience at this nail spa. I will have to ignore this nail job all weekend and during my functions to keep everyone from noticing the botchery. My friend said from a distance at around six feet you can't tell, but any closer the cat's out of the bag. Totally unacceptable. read more

This is the last time I come here. The last time and this one have been unsatisfactory. When I came right before Christmas- there was no one here and I came at opening the two gentlemen working argued over who was going to do my pedicure- keep in mind NO ONE was here. In addition there was not another person that came in for almost 30min after me arriving. Today while there- I wanted 30min reflexology and signature spa pedicure. Another two women come in, no appointments, demanding they have no time to wait. They sit my daughter and I for pedis and start mine. Nail shape was not that great even though it seemed like my nails were filed for about an hour and a half. I've been going here for my manicures and pedicures since relocating to Gainesville about six months ago. The service here is wonderful and I really appreciate how consultative the nail techs are. I started with acrylic nails and was complaining how much they damage my nails but I liked the protection they offered my nails. Becky and Tracy mentioned I should try SNS dipping powder for better results and I'm a convert! The location is clean, convenient and really reasonably priced. The techs are versed in nearly every nail fad, no matter how new. You can tell they're really dedicated. For anything super fancy or out of the box, I would specifically ask for Tracy or Becky, they're artists. They accept walk ins but this place is popular. I simply wanted dipped nails, chose a color, didn't like how bright it was, so I changed, once again he seemed bothered that I changed my color, I was considerate and politely asked to change. I came here for the first time after searching on yelp for a new salon. I made a reservation for a pedicure and they sat me down almost immediately and my feet soaked for a whole 30 minutes before they even started on me (talk about pruny toes!). If I make an appointment, I fully expect you to be on time with your service and if you can't, then schedule me at another time to come so that I'm not waiting. my friend and i went here because they were the only place open till 7 on a sunday and i wanted a fresh set for my birthday. we got inside and we try sitting next to each other but we got moved a couple times by the owner until they found seats for us even though the place was empty. we both begin doing our nails and i had to soak mine off first, while im soaking my acrylics off my friend has already started the process for a new set. i ended up soaking my nails for about more than 30 minutes to the point where my fingers were soggy and wrinkled. after this they moved us from seats again to another station. shortly after an hour passed the lady began working on my nails and moved my friend over to sit next to me (mind you, she had already put on her acrylics and was mid-process) during this time, 2 girls walked in and ask for a pedicure. my friends nail artist stops doing her nails to do the other pedicures. this makes no sense due to the fact that he had already started her nails and we were there first. while doing my nails, she did not know how to do the shape i asked for. we also never got a chance to wash our hands before applying the nail color. ANYWAY .. all this rant for the nails in the pictures below. my friend (red nails) wanted LONG olive green matte in the shape tapered square. the short red nails is what she got instead since they didnt have the color she asked for.. not only that but her nails looked as if a 10 year old had colored them since she had nail polish outside her nail bed. I asked for tapered square and I received a wide bulgy square that was cut with scissors rather than the nail cutting tool with no cuticle oil. I paid $70 (???) for a full gel set which makes NO sense and my friend paid $50 for the same thing. the workers were nice and all but this place was a scam and i will not be returning. I went to a different nail place the next day just to take my set off and get a new one on time for my birthday. as a college student, it sucks that i had to pay $70 for nails i immediately removed the next day. i wish i could get a refund... read more

I was extremely disappointed and upset at my experience. The first experience was not great but I wanted to give them another try and this time I made an appointment asked for a manicure and dip powder with the manager. I waited 45 minutes past my appointment and was seen to by another tech who did not know the dip process and when I tried to let them know it needs a base dip before color another technician stepped in and said it's different for every brand. (I went somewhere else to have them redo it and were shocked since it's not true and this could have dyed my nails). The shape of most nails were crooked and I have to tell the tech twice he was filing the tips of my fingers not the nail. My nails came out worse than when I went in. I would have asked to speak to someone or fix but after 2 hours, being shut down after asking for a base dip and a refile it was such an unpleasant experience I had no time left to have them fix it nor any desire to stay. If I were to have walked in like the first time during a busy rush I would have tried to let it go except this is not the case. But I specified what I wanted before and during my appointment and the fact that was completely disregarded and the fact it is the worse manicure I have ever had is why I am posting. I have never posted a review for nails and I hate to post only negative but this was the second negative experience here and would not recommend. Also, in the picture it is hard to see but some of the polish was dried to the top of my fingers and underneath the nail and my finger so it looked and felt glued shut. There was no manicure either and the polish looked bumpy in some places. My cuticles and fingers were so dry I had no oil or lotion put on. PROS: -Pedicure came out nicely; the massage that was included in it felt great and the technician was very attentive (i.e., asking if the pressure was good, if I liked the color, if water temp was good) -I love the way the technician (same one as above) did my eyebrows (waxed). Also attentive in this regard--asked me if I liked the shape BEFORE going on to the next brow. I usually never shape my brows (just clean them up) because I have pretty thick brows with a naturally nice shape, but I've always wanted to try giving them a little shaping while still keeping them relatively thick, and she did an awesome job! -For the most part, my manicure was good (please refer below for reasoning behind saying "most") CONS: -I called before hand because I saw pictures of the marble nails on here, i.e., Yelp, that clients have had done at ProNails; I wanted to make sure I would get assisted by someone who was experienced with doing it (like the same technician who painted the nails in the picture). I was told by a lady over the phone who I believe is the owner (but not 100% sure) that she is the one who does the marble nails and that she would do them for me. When I got there she was busy with someone, but since I was getting other services done I was told the other technician would complete the other services and then the lady who does the marble nails would do my manicure; however, once it came time to paint my nails, the technician who had been assisting me began painting my nails. By that point we had already established rapport and I figured she wouldn't be doing it if she didn't know how to. Unfortunately, she was not experienced at doing the marble nails. I'm not a confrontational person, so of course I said they were fine. The owner came and looked at them when they were done and I could tell she didn't think they looked as they were supposed to, but she didn't say anything. I paid $10 extra (on top of the $35 for the shellac manicure) for the marble nails, so it's a bit disappointing that I received something that looks like chicken scratch (refer to picture attached), or at least nothing like "marble;" I even showed the technician a picture of what I wanted (refer to picture attached) and they had a sample of the marble nail art at the salon, so it's not like there was a lack of communication in regard to my vision. I don't think a customer should have to be put in an uncomfortable position to have to tell the technician that she shouldn't be doing something she doesn't know how to do. The technician was a sweetheart, so I didn't have the heart to say anything, but the owner should've stepped up. I even checked online to see a tutorial on how to do the marble nails afterwards and she didn't even attempt to do the technique properly, which again makes me believe she hasn't even been taught. Bottom line, if someone (i.e., the owner) asserts that she's the one that does a specific service, she then should be the one to do it. At the end of the day, I honestly think it came down to the fact that I wasn't getting acrylics done and she didn't feel like having to waste her time doing a regular manicure (which is fine, I don't care if the technician who helped me would've done the manicure and the owner cut in at the end and do the paint). OVERALL: I know I should have been more vocal about my dissatisfaction, however, a business should be attempting to provide the best service they can, which means either training their employees properly in order for them to offer different specialties, OR only allowing the employees that are skilled at a specific specialty to offer those services (I didn't go to a beauty school where you sign one of those waivers acknowledging the technician is a student and I surely did not pay "beauty school student" prices). I'd understand if I never had called and asserted that I wanted my nails done in a particular way to verify that someone was there that could do it; however, I did do that AND reiterated it when I got there. On the other hand, service was great (aside from the discrepancy above), employees were cordial, the salon was clean and beautiful, they offered an extensive list of services (from massages to eyelash extensions to nails to waxing), and the pedicure massage chairs were the best massages chairs I have EVER used. Pricing was a bit on the expensive side, $88 being the total; break down was $35 for the shellac manicure + $10 for the "marble" nails ($2 a nail), $28 for the 2nd cheapest pedicure (there was one that was $25 but it didn't include the scrub or removing of callouses, which I think should be included in the basic pedicure), $15 for eyebrow waxing, and I left the technician a $10 tip. It wasn't overly expensive, but probably about $15 more than an average salon (not including tip). read more
