This past Spring I was in the process of relocating from IL to TX. We were less than a month away from the move with no place to live. I happen to call a listing that was represented by another firm. Shy answered the phone and said he would do better than just show me the listed house, he would be my renting agent until I found a home! He was with me every step of the way. Shy picked me up from my hotel on South Broadway took me to all of the properties available. The next day he set up other homes for me to look at even though I had pretty much made up my mind. He had 8 on the list, with only 2 left to show because the rental homes were going so fast. He told me before I left his office that I would change my mind and want to rent in this neighborhood. As much as it pained me to be wrong, he was right. It was a great neighborhood, the house was in a cul-de-sac, and there were new homes going up across the street!! My wife loves the house and neighbors!! Even after we moved in Shy came by to see how we were and to answer any questions, not to mention I called multiple times for advice. He did all this with a $200.00 commission from the rental company, not from me!!! He spent more money in gas driving me around then what he made. This speaks to his character and his desire to help people as a real estate agent. He wants to help people have a great experience, and he definitely goes all the way. At this point I am unsure whether Philip Shinalt aka Shy Shinalt is a scam artist or just an incredibly bad property manager. We entered a contract in July of 2013 for him to manage my duplex in Galveston. After the first two months of no monthly statements and no payment distributions, I repeatedly tried to contact him via email and phone. Absolutely no response for the last six weeks. Due to his breach of our contract, I have submitted a written letter of termination and have yet to receive any of the monthly statements due or the deposits due that he was holding for the current tenants. I also contacted several other property managers and Realtors around Galveston. None of them had ever heard of Philip Shy Shinalt or his management company before. Additional online research showed that the glowing testimonials that he had displayed on his website were actually pulled from another website, and just edited to include his name. Furthermore, I found a news report referencing a Phil Shinalt getting arrested for "fraudulent use of identifying information, a state jail felony," that I believe to be for the same person. Last, I got in touch with both of my tenants since this time, and was told he had not responded to any of their maintenance requests or messages over the course of the last few months. I will most likely be pursuing litigation in the near future and doing whatever I can to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

A True Professional and a Friend is how we feel about Shy. We first met him when he listed a home for us in South Tyler. We didn't know him, but we were immediately confident in his abilities. He was easy to talk with and he was obviously telling us the truth, even the "bad" stuff. After he finished his short, but informative listing presentation, and making no promises except to do the best he could, we signed all of the papers. Like clockwork, the sign was in our yard, the home and photos were in the MLS system when he said they would be, and he scheduled the first open house. We, then began looking for a home to buy with Shy. As luck would have it, we got an offer on our home much quicker than we thought we would and the pressure was on us to find a home to move into. To make a long story short, Shy worked overtime and we found a home we liked and got the two deals on paper at the same time....It took some work to coordinate all of this, but Shy stayed calm and got it done. 3 years later, we listed our home with Shy and the same thing happened. Like clockwork..........he got it done and we are in a new home in a new community. Shy is a professional and we also like him and count him as a friend. We highly recommend him! read more

As first-time home buyers, we were not familiar with the home buying process and we were also relocating from out-of-state, so we really needed someone to help narrow down our search. We were fortunate to stumble onto Shy and he helped quickly eliminate houses he knew would not be a good fit for us. We basically had two days to find a house and looked at many that would have worked, but just didn't feel like home. We hadn't considered new construction homes, until Shy suggested we look at one that he thought we would like. We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it and are now glad to call it home! Perhaps it's not until you have so many bad property managers that you can really appreciate a good one. I have worked with property managers in Florida, Virginia, and California. Of all these, I can say that Shy and his employees have been absolutely the best. Service is friendly and efficient. Repairs are speedy, prices are affordable, and payments are prompt.
