Code says you can not pass a 4 inch diameter sphere through the openings. The mesh I used is 1 7/8 x 3 7/8 inch wire opening. The wire gauge is 1/4 diameter. This is heavy duty stuff the railing going up to my second floor he's throwing a 2018 code out at it saying it doesn't comply. The house is built in 2004 I'm very skeptical about this place

He is knowledgeable about Pittsburgh-area homes and what to look for based on the time period in which a home was built.
