First of all, for anyone complaining about the sign and, the shop being closed during posted business hours. You have to push the door to get in. I was greeted kindly. I found this cute boutique, while searching online for jellycat locators. They have a nice collection of them. I bought 2, including a rare one. Besides that, they have so many beautiful items to pick from. Clothes, jewelry, home decor, baby stuff, paintings, little knick knacks, scented candles etc. the environment is cozy and very beautiful. Rose & Chelsea are so sweet. The boutique is very inviting. The customers were all happy and I had a lovely conversation with a fellow shopper. I highly recommend this boutique. I have nothing bad to say about Propinquities. My experience was wonderful. I'm originally from San Diego. I had been meaning to check out the local boutiques, and this one has a warm welcoming feeling to it. Very charming and whimsical. Buyer beware! : REFUSED to do a refund even after an overcharge on their end (we went to get it fixed day of). Went here recently. The shop has some cool things, with a variety of jewelry and clothing. We went and got many pieces from this store but by the time we headed out, we noticed an overcharge. Immediately went back, not even 5 minutes later - the cashier said that this has never happened before and did not issue a refund. She settled for store credit instead. We had the receipt as proof and even showed her the item tag. No accountability on their end. If it's a mistake on your end, it's only right to get it fixed for the customer especially when YOUR mistake just happened minutes ago. Cute store, terrible "return policy". I don't like to use absolute words very often, but i can say with confidence that i will NEVER shop in this store again. I'm aware of her stingy return policy, if you can even call it that. You get 5 days to return for store credit. I bought a couple of pictures and a top, after the sale was completed, i told the woman at the counter how pretty the one pic was and wished there was another, she thought there was, so we walked back through the store to try to find it. Well, i saw a picture i liked better and decided to exchange it. The original was $72 and the new was $54 or something. So it had been maybe 4 mins since the purchase and they made me do store credit. I live 45 mins away, and knowing how stupid their policy i decided to buy a pair of earrings instead of taking their store credit as i will never be back. I owed around $8 for the earrings and wanted to pay cash, i had a $50 and $100 (that i had gotten from the casino on a cruise), they tried putting it through their counterfeit machine and both wouldn't go through. My mom was with me, gave them a $20 and $100 neither worked. Finally we found $9 in cash and they accepted it. So not only is their return policy a joke, but they also made my mom & i feel like criminals. We're both done shopping there, and usually spend quite a bit of money. Oh, and why would you name your store something that no one can pronounce?!?! read more

This place is terrible and the customer service accounts for most of the reason why. The owner is a bitter individual and made the whole experience unpleasant for me. This is sad as it made us never want to return, so we decided to go a few doors down to another store instead. We told the owner of that other store about the owner of Propinquities, and how she was unpleasant and rude. The owner agreed and confirmed that is her typical behavior. Regardless of the owner's attitude, I can't say this place is my taste. It looks like a glorified thrift store and the clothing style is just atrocious. To each their own. Spring 2019 we went to see the poppy superbloom in the high desert between Santa Clarita and Lancaster. On the way back, one of our party wanted to go to the comic book store in Old Town Newhall, so we stopped. That led to the discovery of The Victoria Shopping Plaza. We happened to park near Propinquities, but alas (for me) it wasn't open at the time. Recently, Dear Hubby, Adored Grandson, and I had brunch at a restaurant not far from The Victoria. I remembered Propinquities and wanted to stop by. This time they were open! Worth the wait. Good thing they aren't closer to me, or I might have a hard time staying away and keeping my credit card holstered. The layout and displays are beautifully pulled together - a masterful curation of women's clothing and jewelry, unique gift items, beautiful comfort items for the home (like soothing bath treats, pillows and throws), and whimsical accents of many kinds. So much to see and appreciate, and definitely a visual feast. As DH and AG were waiting for me, I kept my browsing to a minimum, but still found a canvas print that spoke to me for a reasonable price. Given what a wonderful meal we had at the nearby restaurant, I expect that we'll be going back to Old Town Newhall, which means I can go back to Propinquities for a longer browsing session. They are observing social distancing and requiring masks inside. Prices are retail level, but they do have a mix of different lines of everything, with some being reasonable. I could easily find some gift items here that you wouldn't see everywhere else. read more

Went there last Sunday after brunch with my family and grandchildren. My granddaughters were admiring the stuffed animals by the front window. I said I would buy them each one and to pick one they liked. My granddaughters are six and four years old. As they were shopping and touching the merchandise to see which one they wanted,a very rude woman (the owner) ran over and ostracized them for touching the items! She ran towards them like a crazy woman and scared them! I certainly didn't appreciate how she was treating these beautiful innocent children! How are they supposed to Shop if they're being reprimanded for touching the stuffed animals? She told them that it took her a long time to set up the display and she would appreciate it if no one touched it. My daughter told her we spent a lot of money here, and her rude response was "that's what you're supposed to do!" We will no longer be supporting this local store and I will I will make sure to let everyone I know how awful our experience was in that store. The worst customer service in Santa Clarita! I often frequent Propenquities when l finish dining at The Egg Plantation. Honestly I have found the merchandise beautiful but a little a little out of reach. I had a very pleasant experience the last time l visited I was showing off our fair city and after dining at restaurant we stopped by She is an impeccable dresser and she loved it She loves her purchases. I found some beautiful ethnic art and they pieces were reasonable priced and greatly enhance my home. The staff has always been fine with me. Shopping is always a buyer beware situation so the incident regarding the candlesticks being cheaper at Hobby Lobby does not deter me. I guess it is a bit of a tourist trap in that regard. I love the vibe and the merchandise so l will definitely be going back. read more

Today, my friend and I decided to go to Propinquities as we were next door having brunch. As we walked thru the store's threshold, the owner walked directly passed us, literally in front of us, and didn't acknowledge us. I really do try not to come here as the owner could care less about her customers as she never says hello or thanks her customers. I spent $300 today, my friend spent $200. On our way out she was sitting by the front door (that's where she prices all her merchandise). Not a thank you, or any type of acknowledgment. The store has great merchandise. I'm confident if the owner took a little time to be grateful for her patrons she could double, or triple her sales. People like to go where they are welcome. There is no other store like it in Sta Clarita. Truth-be-told I avoid this store like the plaque. But if I'm next door at Egg Plantation I do walk in while I'm waiting to be seated. And 100% of the time I spend a few hundred dollars here. And it annoys me every time that I'm supporting a business owner who doesn't care. read more

The proprietor and staff don't wear masks or get tested. The sales person was all stuffed up and when I asked her to put on a mask, she put it on under her nose, so that I had to ask her to pull it up. She said that she has allergies, but do I believe her?. I asked the maskless owner directly if they do not wear masks, even though it is mandated and she said "no". This place has such great selection and customer service. The women who work there are just such fun conversationalists, and then they have all sorts if clothes and jewelry. There's so much to see here. Another really great thing about this store is that because of the selection, it's a great place to find gifts for ladies. I got several things for Sheryle, and we saw some things for one of the women at church as well. I pretty strongly recommend visiting this store, and when you do you'll see that it's a really nice place, and you can have a great time and find fun things to buy. read more

Spent a lovely afternoon having lunch at downtown Newhall as we do every year when my mother comes into town. We celebrate Mother's Day a week early. The first time I went into this store was a few months ago. I was absolutely loving all of the trinkets and decor items. I found these "vintage" candlesticks, a little one for $26 and the big one for $36. I was in love and was treated as if I found something so unique.... Just yesterday I was walking in Hobby Lobby and happened to pass the exact candlesticks in bulk... for $9 each. The business literally took stuff from hobby lobby, took off the tag, and added a written tag for a 300%-400% price gauge at their store. Also marketing something as unique/vintage when it's actually down the street at a craft store in bulk feels shady. I then noticed multiple statue items I had seen in the store were all over home goods for much cheaper. I guess you could call it good business since they're making an insane profit on cheap items from chain stores and rebranding? But I just feel like I got had so I won't be going back since I don't trust the quality and price. Sad, I thought I found a new favorite. read more

I have been shopping at Propinquities since the store opened, but will never return again. I have overlooked the rude and rude owner and inattentive staff, but was appalled that the sales associate who was wringing up my purchase was not wearing a mask and made no attempt to put one on. There was also a customer in the store who not wearing a face covering. This store is lucky that they are located next to Egg Plantation as it is the only place to go while waiting to be seated. I was in there today with my mother (a senior citizen), and as she was at the register purchasing an item when I noticed the employee assisting her was not wearing a mask. Lo and behold the employee sneezed all over the counter, and my mother! Then proceed to hand my mother a pen to sign with that had just been sneezed on. I confronted the employee about not wearing a mask and she responded, "I know, I'm going to put one one now." As if that helps. This in inexcusable. The owner was not in the store at that time, and when we called the listed phone number, it only goes to a general voice message. I love this store and have shopped there many times. I have never had a bad experience till today. I wanted to purchase a coat and noticed there was a rip in the pocket. When I asked if they could discount the price since it was the last one.....she said no that she had fixed it. I looked at the hand stitching and it was sewn crooked. I said I still wanted it but she would not discount the price. She said she could sell it to someone else. I was shocked. I was even more shocked to find that it was the owner. She was a rude snobby old woman. Obviously just an angry curmudgeon. Although I love the store and the sales staff I won't be shopping there again. read more

Let me start out by saying I never leave yelp reviews, but my experience today warrants a warning to future shoppers. I was visiting my family a few months ago (I live in San Francisco, please note the most expensive city in the USA) I noticed a beautiful large dream catcher in the window. My mom kindly offered to join me on a visit to this store to hopefully grab one up as a last minute Christmas gift. After 10 minutes of shopping around the store (no offer of assistance) I finally asked if they had the item I was looking for. A brunette, late 60s women, responded with 'oh no we have a small one in the far room', I asked again for the large option, her immediate response was 'ha do you know how much that one costs?' I responded politely 'no' (although, I'm pretty sure I didn't ask) she responded with '$595'...yes totally outrageously priced. But the fact that she assumed I couldn't afford it was completely disrespectful. This store needs to take a Sales 101 course ASAP. 'Nasty Women' work here...and not the good kind. read more

I love walking in this store; it's full of lots of unique gifts and items. I usually go in while waiting for my table at a local restaurant. I wish my experience matched my expectations. Last Friday, I wasn't browsing. I came in to buy an item for a friend. I found the perfect pendant and was looking at a chain. When I asked about the item, I was told "You can't buy that; it can only be ordered on catalog." Hmmm. OK. I'll order it. That's when I noticed the catalog. Hey I can wrap the catalog and let my friend know it's on the way. I got . . . "the catalog costs $5.00, we can't just be giving them away." Wow that's a bummer, I really wanted to spend over 50 dollars on an item in your store. I wonder if you could have handled the sale better. Perhaps think outside of the box and sold it to me and then re-ordered a replacement of the item instead? Instead, I'd be giving you a rave review for outstanding customer service not just one star for your lack of servicing skills. BTW, I also had four other things in my hand . . . totalling over $150 dollars. Let's just say, I put them down and now I'm looking up local sellers of jewelkade on line. Don't waste your time... While this store does have some great items, they are overpriced and the owner's customer service skills are non-existent. I honestly don't know how she has stayed in business this long. The owner's poor attitude has rubbed off on most of the employees as well. If you enjoy shopping in a hostile environment and spending hundreds of dollars without being acknowledged, this is your place. I had 8 items on hangers in my arms before anyone offered to start a fitting room for me and there were only 2 of us in the store. I was not acknowledged at all. I didn't expect anyone to end her conversation, but isn't it good business practice to at least smile or say good morning? We have been in this store at least a 100 times. Generally, we stroll through as we are waiting to be called for breakfast or after breakfast as we are going to the parking lot. Every time the experience is bad. Items to purchase are quaint but overpriced. The service is non existent to rude. The only reason they stay in business is the fact that they are next to egg plantation which is massively busy. They Have a no return policy; they are snobby about the purchase; they can't remember you from last week; they are rude when you are purchasing; they don't even thank you for your purchase. The prior comment about a hostile shopping environment is spot on. I would NEVER recommend this quaint but torturous experience. We will never spend any more money at this place. The staff is always friendly and they carry Tyler candles (my favorite)! I purchased a bralette for my wife. My wife asked my daughter to return the bralette as it did not fit. The women that were working in the store were not friendly to her and just stood their waiting for my daughter to say what the problem was. One of the sales woman working looked at the product and said that there was a stain on it and said that my wife had used it. That was not true. She said that it was worn, stained, and washed. My daughter told her that the only reason she was there was to return it. She accused my wife of staining and using the bralette when my wife purchased it that way already. My wife saw the stain, thought that it was part of the bralettes color pattern. The point here is: my wife never used the item. She was accused of doing so. As my wife has purchased many items in this establishment, the accusations and attitudes are definitely uncalled for. Propinquites has lost a customer! First time shopping here, and I was drawn in by all the cool stuff they had. When I checked out, I noticed they stamped a return policy on my receipt saying that all returns are do be done within 5 days or exchange only. The girls there that day were friendly-ish. I came back to exchange 2/3 pieces, because I did not try them on in store because of Covid and it didn't seem this shop had any protocols. I was actually going to return them and get higher priced pieces I had seen last time I was there. I figured I'd pay the difference. When I came in, the women with short hair, I think the owner everyone is referencing in these reviews, greeted me, but her smile was gone the minute she saw my bag. I asked for an exchange, she said, "oh no that's a sale item." So I pointed out the other item and she said both were sale items. So I told her I didn't know I couldn't exchange because the receipt only says about the store credit and 5 days. Her and the girl with brown hair both began to take my clothing and look at it and then take the receipt and continuously say their sale items, and the girl with brown hair says that it says it on the receipt. I read her the policy on my receipt and they both continue to stay their sale items. It would've been nice if it had even been mentioned when I made my purchase! Also, to come at me so snappy and condescending was not good customer service. You've lost a customer who you could've had coming in ever week. I really liked the decor, signs, pillows and candles that they had for sale. A great place to search for a gift. Everything is so beautiful. It was my birthday the day I went to this store and my aunt surprised me with a candle that I was planning to purchase myself. They wrapped up my gift quickly so that I wouldn't see and my aunt presented it to me at the store. That's how great the customer service is at this store. What a great experience here. It's truly sad that I've spent my money in a store where I find that the owner is the most RUDE and insensitive person I have dealt with in years! This was my "go to" store for the cutest items, candles and much more but I will NEVER spend another dime here. I was fortuante enough to always deal with a lovely lady at the counter but when I went in this weekend, the owner was there, I thought I noticed a smerky look when we arrived, but thought...nahh....and then when one of the workers was assisting as I searched for a candle that I purchased on MANY occassions in a tin, she had the nerve to say "I don't get those becuase my STUPID customers drop them and they bend....So, I don't get them anymore"....with an attitude and I was actually taken back and almost lost my kool but decided to be the better person and when I told her that I also owned a business, she changed her attitude and tried to smile it off and say "you probably understand more then me"! I wanted to tell her that I would NEVER call my customers stupid. My sister from Arizona was so upset at me for giving a dime to her store but I told her that I will NEVER do it again and advise all of my business owner friends and family to go elsewhere. When I got home, I read reviews on several sites and bam.....so many have said that same thing and had I known this before, I would've never shopped there. Trust and believe me, there are other places that have gorgeous items with staff and owners that appreciate their customers so if I have to drive to it, it's totally worth the drive. While sitting across from Propiniquities at the Egg Plantation, I saw the cutest kimono. I had to have it! My girlfriends and I went over after our lunch and shopped. We all purchased an item, the kimono for me. Score! Brought it home and laundered it according to the label instructions...delicate wash, lay flat to dry. Then sadly I saw a hole! Oh no! Surely they will exchange it. Right? It is after all, brand new. Went in to the store the following day to exchange. Was greeted by two older women, one nice, the other....I have no words. Rude comes to mind but does not nearly touch how she behaved towards me. This woman proceeded to attack me at her shock of my washing this newly bought garment (Was I not supposed to?), carried on about how it can not be resold (Is this my problem?), and that they cant even get this item again. Wow! Is this how you treat your customers? Especially one who spends their hard earned money in your store? Never once was there any mention of being sorry that this happened or here, let me fix this for you. No! Instead I was told that the kimono that I had exchanged it for (which thankfully there was another who the nice sales lady helped me find) would be a FINAL SALE! Oh yes, she made sure to stress this to me as this would be the owners instructions had she been the one dealing with this. Also, I was schooled on how to wash clothes in the future (thanks for the lesson but I am a grown up woman who has been washing delicates for quite sometime). What in the world!?!? I do not believe I have ever been treated with such disrespect and rudeness. Such a shame too as I have often enjoyed coming into this store with friends as well as my mother (Who by the way, has dropped a lot of money here). Never again!!! This little shop is a great place if your in a rush to find a nice hostess gift or a little something for someone; however, it's pricey and many items can be found at Home Goods or TJMaxx, sooooo as much as I love the ability to always fine something just know you're paying a little more than you should be.
