Dana is right. She did stamp a "All returns must be within 5 days for store credit only" to my receipt that was given 10 day previously. It was not a "No Return" stamp. You have a great store, just be friendly and welcoming to EVERYONE and problem solved. If I could give a 0 star I would. We walked over to go see this store and purchase something we say earlier and the owner of the store was taking a picture of the boxes of inventory they got in for the day. We said wow busy day. And she said ya were closing in 6 minutes. And my mom said ok well is it ok if we just walk through really quickly and the owner said ugh no were closing. Made us feel completely uncomfortable and turned away our business cuz she didn't want anyone in her store with 6 minutes left. Very rude and will never be coming back here. Horrible service and to make a customer uncomfortable while being a small business and relying on walk ins is crazy to me. Don't go to this store. read more

I don't think I've ever experienced such poor customer service in my adult life!!!!!! I've worked very hard at getting over this experience and have decided I owe it to you all to share my story and save you the trauma! ( yeah, this was way more than drama) I took my very blonde good friend (I say that just so you get the picture, no she is not the silly stereotype people have of blondes but it's pertinent to the issue so read on......)on a 50th birthday shopping spree (didn't even have a total in mind) if she liked it and it "worked" for her, then I would have said "great, let's get it", as she is extremely picky and knows exactly what she likes. So we began to browse..... Well, my daughter asked to see something on a mannequin for my friend and the sales persons response was to give her the price!!! Seriously?? The price was inconsequential (and thank goodness I was not standing close enough to hear this particular exchange), however my friend who was waiting in the dressing room did and immediately felt embarrassed for my daughter and angry. No one asked the price. In the meantime I asked if the store had any black jeans or black cropped pants and was told "no" and then I turned to a rack where I found the exact item. Upon leaving a purse fell and my friend was so offended she just kicked it out of the way...... And kept walking, I on the other hand already knew the mindset of these individuals and reached to pick it up and the sales lady just quipped she would get it, so I allowed her to. I can't defend my friends behavior but I totally understand how hard it is to watch someone else be treated in such a distasteful fashion. She simply couldn't believe this was happening in this day and age and was simply appalled. We found my friend BAGS of clothing throughout the day..... AT OTHER MORE FRIENDLY ESTABLISHMENTS. She wanted to drive back to the store and show them the sales they missed...... I'm just glad they only received $74 of my money. The moral of this story is for those two females (the term "ladies" just doesn't fit their demeanor) who were the most UNHELPFUL people on the planet....... Stop judging a book by its "color"....... And you all know exactly what I mean!! People who care, Please show your buying power and do so ANYWHERE but this store!!! read more

Please check the exchange or return policies before you purchase from this store. I tried to exchange a Christmas gift without realizing this policy and they didn't even wince when they said no exchange 5 days past the deadline. Item had the tag and still in its bag. I will not go back to this store and will not recommend it to anyone. They are expensive and their exchange and return policy is not customer friendly. read more

I ALWAYS plan on checking this place first when it comes to birthday presents, Christmas, etc. They have tons of cute house decor items, as well as clothing thats really unique! I haven't had any negative experiences with the sales staff and I really love the selection of purses at such reasonable prices. The only two things that prevented five stars are the ABUNDANCE of idols in this store - seriously a big turn off for me. Why decorate with that stuff when you don't need to? If that's your faith, you don't need to broadcast it in retail. Also, why the limitation on returns? I am a shopper who likes to buy gifts early for my friends so it forces me to buy closer to their birthdays, Christmas, etc. due to the short turnaround time of the return. read more

It blows my mind that this place is still in business. Thank goodness they have decent merchandise and have a GREAT location because the owner is a nightmare. I have popped in to this location many times over the years despite all of the negative reviews flying around. I have never had a good experience and shrugged off some not so pleasant experiences; that was until last week. Last week may have been the first time I had direct contact with the owner and it was horrible. She was completely rude and snarky, oh and I should definitely mention dishonest. She was selling something on consignment (because she went back on the arrangement made when the item was purchased) and never called when the item sold?! I had to go in and inquire about the item to find out that it was no longer in the store. Of course she made up some excuse and proceeded to be one of the most unpleasant individuals I have ever encountered in retail. She should probably spend less time arguing with the many 1 star reviews she has been given and more time working on her customer service skills. This is a fabulous little boutique in Newhall that is right next to Egg Plantation. I have been going here for years. The store has home decor items, clothing and jewelry. I have bought a lot of really amazing items for my home over the years. If I need to buy a birthday present for a friend, I always end up going to Propinquities. They will put the gift in a gift bag with tissue paper and ribbon.....it saves some time for me! In the last year, I have started buying some clothes here. They have really cute unique items. There are items that are quite expensive but the majority of things are pretty reasonably priced. I always get compliments on things I do buy here. :-) It never fails......I have lunch with a friend at Egg Plantation and have to walk through Propinquities before I leave. They have so much merchandise that I always walk around the store twice to make sure I don't miss anything! Everything is displayed so nicely. When I have relatives visit, they always want to go to Propinquities. My mother loves the store as well as my 25 year old niece! read more

I'd like to take a moment to put my "two cents" in regarding "Propinquities". As a frequent Santa Clarita shopper, I have my radar poised as I survey the layout, the organization and the friendliness of staff of any store I enter. I will say, without question, that Propinquities has - in my opinion - the nicest and most beautiful interior. I have had nothing but helpful, and not cloying, service. I personally do not like to be followed as I browse through a store. One of the aspects of Propinquities that I appreciate is that the staff lets me walk in peace. As I read some of the earlier reviews, I can only think that - as we all have "off" days - certain members of the staff were not on their game. That is forgiveable. I am not always on MY game! DO NOT GO IN! The owner is a gray haired woman with the most smug look on her face that doesn't seem to change. I went in yesterday with my boyfriend after eating at Egg Plantation to browse around. I found a few items including a dress that I loved on the mannequin. I tried on two sizes, eventually landing on one but the whole time I was talking to my boyfriend about which one looked better, the owner kept chiming in by saying, "It's a dress and it looks great, what's the big deal." She was a little rude but I still bought the dress. About 20 minutes later I decided to go back in and return the dress because I just did not feel that it was a good fit for me. I walked in and asked the employee at the register if I could return the dress because I had changed my mind. I had been in 20 MINUTES BEFORE and she was the lady who had checked me out. She knew my face. She said that they do not accept any returns, only store credit so I would need to ask the owner if she would make an exception since I was just in. I walked over to the owner and said "Hi..." She cut me off and said she had already heard me talk to the other lady. Then she stared me down waiting for me to talk so I said, "Okay, well I was just wondering if I could return the dress because I realize that I don't feel comfortable in it after all." She looked at me and said, "Well, I hope you feel comfortable with store credit because that's what you'll get." I was shocked that she was so rude to me. I asked if she would please make an exception for me since I was just in only 20 minutes before and she again shut me down and belittled me. By this time other customers were around and I was getting embarrassed so I walked up to the register to receive my store credit and leave. I told the lady at the register that I think that the customers should be informed of the "No Return" policy before they buy the item so that this misunderstanding doesn't happen again. The owner, who was over by the window, chimed in very abruptly and said, it's posted on the counter in front of your face!" By this point I had had enough of her rude condescending attitude. After exchanging more words, where she was yelling at me and making me start to cry, I told her, "You know what, it's a shame that you are such a rude person and you won't even be a descent human being and make an exception for a customer who was just in your store earlier, and who is still keeping the shoes I purchased from you by the way. I would have loved to come back but now I will never shop here again and I will let everyone know how terrible you are." I walked out without the dress and without my $57.00. Please do yourself a favor and do not shop there. She embarrassed me and made me so upset and other customers saw this and saw how malicious she is. What an amazing location they have, well maybe not to them by the reaction and comments of the people below. In a way I do understand the comments by the reviewer and also the replies by the owner. Diplomacy is a good thing {selling 101, as a previous reviewer put it). Other stores would kill to have the foot traffic thanks to Egg Plantation. The odds are that this store might gain new customers on a somewhat regular basis. Be truly welcoming. It is actually a darling little store and a stand out in this rather dreary area I am almost positive that many ladies would find something (well, men too) here. The owner has a good eye for things. I have been peering into their windows many times on my visits to Egg Plantation next door and this time I was lured in by something I saw on my last visit to EP. I wanted to do a "side bar look see" during my long wait for EP. I actually was contemplating purchasing one or two items but for some reason I did not want to give them my money. I guess I was not "romanced" to do so. Now, this is an odd comment you say and I am not sure if you understand this, but obviously this has not happened to many people who have popped in this store.....again they have a lot of foot traffic continuosly. So, my comment to the owner, I am just a somebody who landed in your store. I am the public and the public thinks rather highly of themselves cause they have the gold. One has to enjoy working with the public and have the right personality cause it can be not so easy. Every store policy should be clear and handled politely and respectfully with the client, even if it is stringent. Also, is that your office right in front in plane view? The customer service was horrible and manager rude and condescending. Will never shop here again. I am a frequent egg plantation girl. I have browsed the store many times and have thought that the stuff was cute, although way overpriced for the quality. This isn't unique boutique high quality stuff. More costume stuff at boutique prices. It is what it is. One day I bought two large Tyler candles (love them), a $60 fad purse and a $20 mint green bracelet. When I got home to put the bracelet on, it snapped and beads went flying everywhere. I have tiny hands, size 4 3/4 wedding band and wrists that match. (Just wish the rest of me did, but that's another story). It was nt bc it was too small for me. When I looked you could tell the stretch cord it was on was defective. I called right away and was so politely put in my place by them. They do not do returns or exchanges. Only because they were feeling generous could I bring the item back to be inspected. Which I did only to be told I would have to wait several days for the manager to call me to tell me what they were willing or not willing to do. When I received the call I was basically told in a very condescending way that they don't believe me and I must have worn it a bunch and wore it out (really in less than 24 hours I had owned it???). At this point I admit I started getting a bit agitated. After going around and around, the manager let me know that because she was so kind she would make an exception this once and give me a store credit. I was stuck exchanging it for something I didn't want but luckily could gift later. I will NOT ever buy from them again and will be sure to tell my friends too. Defective items happen all the time and I am okay with that, but manager, your attitude and self-righteousness is NOT. read more

I have shopped at this store for many years. The store has some really great stuff. My review is based on my most recent visit. The woman who helped me was rude, as a matter of fact she yelled at me for going into one part at the front of the store that is apparently an office. I wanted to buy a stand for the Tyler candles I was buying and was informed they were not for sale, even though I could visually see about 7 to 10 of them throughout the store. The woman who waited on me was asian and seriously lacked in customer service skills!!! A previous review mentions that the owner lacks customer service skills and I can definitely say as they mentioned that it has poored over onto the employees. All I can say is, "WOW!" I witnessed the OWNER tell 2 women in front of me to "WRAP THEIR OWN GIFTS" telling her employee, Pam, to put some tissue and bags together so they can wrap them themselves. The OWNER said to the women, "as you can see, we are pretty busy so we can't wrap these for you!" RUDE! She never even stopped to help, Pam or any of the other customers. She just barked orders to Pam. These two ladies were spending upwards of $300+ dollars. Pam was as accommodating as the boutique would allow her. Very busy with a line forming behind these two ladies. All the while the OWNER and one other woman stomped around the store. For the prices this OWNER charges, Pam would have gone A LOT quicker had she not had to have HAND WRITTEN two extensive receipts. Purchase a computer to make employees job easier and your patrons wait time less. Surely you can afford it. AND my receipt had a generic black ink stamp for their business. The credit card receipt looked like that of a fast food restaurant stating, YOUR RECEIPT CALL AGAIN. I'm surprised the OWNER even has a cc machine. I have a fancier address stamp for my home. Again, with the prices of the items in this store, the OWNER needs to invest some of the proceeds into customer service and the "fine touches" of business labeling. Purchase a computer and program to scan items. What baffled me even more, was the fact that these women were accepting to the fact that they had spent almost $400 dollars and were ordered by the OWNER to wrap their own gifts, because her shop was too busy. Unacceptable! Oh, on a side note, there was a stone that had Hope engraved on it. The gals that were spending all the dough said she wanted it. The OWNER bellowed across the boutique, "NO, THAT'S MINE AND IT'S THE LAST ONE!" More WOW'S! Kudos to, Pam for keeping her cool and being polite to all the customers in line. read more

I was just here with my mom a day ago and we had a fantastic experience. The store has walls and walls of beautiful items for sale. The ladies that worked there were more than friendly from the time we walked in, to the time we left. The only thing I can say is some of there pieces of clothing are pretty pricey, but other than that, what a great hidden treasure we found. They were so extremely rude and pushy to us, meanwhile they were drinking wine and talking shit about every person in the store, I don't think they realise that customers can hear you!
