We were with Northwest Security and Sound for home and small business for quite a few years. The technicians were always polite and friendly (shout out to technician Joel!). Other than billing error where they thought we owed on past bills until I sent proof of payment they were fine. Then a problem developed where the alarm would not set in our small space and NSS could not figure it out. The nature of our business is such that we absolutely cannot go without an alarm set but was told by Rick to just deactivate a zone (which would be great until someone breaks in through a door of that zone). Repeated trip charges for this same, seemingly basic problem prompted me to finally ask via email (can post if necessary) if there would be a charge to come yet again for the same problem and Rick freaked out and sent a certified letter saying they are dropping us? Seriously? That's how you treat a long time customer? And out of spite, I guess, he terminated service at our home as well. All for asking if there would be yet another trip charge for the same problem. Who wouldn't ask that question? They also couldn't figure out the cause of a repeated false alarm on a smoke detector and kept charging us for trip charges, alarm replacements, keypad replacement, and even a whole new panel and still couldn't get it resolved. Very disappointing to be treated this way. So far, so good with another local company.

I spoke with their main operational head who explained that my fire alarms were old (beyond their 10 year life) and needed replacement. Rather than pitch their services, he explained that this was something I could probably handle myself, where to go and the appropriate next steps. Within a few days I had replaced all of our smoke detectors with the latest edition - problem solved. SO WHY am I writing this review. Because the guys at Signal Services didn't have to walk me through what was happening and how to fix it. They didn't get paid, had plenty of other things to be doing that day, but took the time to help me out for free. With that, they earned a 5 star review and my pledge to use them again in the future if I ever need services that they offer. It's all too rare these days that someone helps when there's no sale to be made and this is a true testament to their customer-centric approach. Great guys - thank you!

Thankfully, did a little more research and came across HomeStar Security, and it was day and night difference. Talking to Mike was great - totally understood my needs, didn't press for any features or services that I didn't want, and got me scheduled for an install appointment (upgrading existing equipment) in a short timeframe. Brent - the technician who came to the house to perform the install - was on time, friendly, efficient, and helpful. Was quoted 2 hours for the install, and finished exactly within 2 hours. The system got installed the second day after they came, and everything worked precisely and accurately. The package comes with a motion sensor, but I already have one from my old system, so they give me an extra key fob with no charge instead of the sensor. It was very nice. They also put an ADT secured sign outside my house to increase the security level more. They called me after installation, making sure everything is okay. I have some troubles using ADT pulse (the iOS app for controlling the system), and they stayed on the line helping me trouble shooting and fixed the issue. Also, got quick enough replies when I ask them questions via text msg. Very nice product and even nicer service. 5*.
