As a new customer of HomeStar, I have been very pleased with my system, installation, and great customer service from their staff! In light of the recent rash of home invasions on the news, I'm very relieved that I got the system when I did. I feel so much better having the peace of mind of knowing that I have security for both when I'm home and not at home. Also I had great experiences with their employees: the appointment setter, in-home rep, office staff, and the technician have all been very positive. Everyone that I interacted with seemed friendly and helpful. I was impressed that I had my system installed the same week that I met with the in-home rep. The tech was great and patiently walked me through how to use my system. He was professional, friendly, and seemed to take pride in his work. The company as a whole seems sincerely committed to their customer's safety and security. Needless to say, I was shocked to see the negative reviews for Homestar, because I had a completely opposite experience with them, which is what compelled me to write this review. However, it's also interesting to note that the negative reviews are not from actual Homestar customers. These reviewers don't have any real experience with this company post-sale, which I think tends to lend a lack of credibility to their reviews since they have no working knowledge or experience with the actual product or service provided by this company. Also with regards to the in-home appointment, I actually appreciated all the information the rep provided because I felt it helped educate me on on the added benefits of having the system. I had previously thought of getting the system mainly for burglary protection, but the rep also educated me on the medical and fire protection services, which I learned could both be time and life savers. I also learned about and got a cool smoke detector that ADT offers, that tells them if there is a fire in your house, so if you're not home, ADT will call the fire department to put out the fire! It's really great because I have and pets, and now I don't have that worry about them left unprotected when I'm not home. I think the information the rep provided also made me more confident in making my decision about ADT. It's good to to know that they take the time to educate buyers, which I think says a lot about the quality of their business practices. I have been very pleased with my experience with HomeStar Security, and my husband and I are having our system installed on Saturday. At first I was very skeptical because of some of the reviews that I had read on Yelp, and was already swaying toward another authorized dealer of ADT, but after a very pleasant conversation with the owner on the phone, I decided to give them a chance. David was the Promotions Rep that came to our house to go over the service details with us, and both my husband and I were happy to do business with him. He was very pleasant to talk to and very knowledgeable. He was not at all pushy, and answered our questions. I felt more like I was in a meeting with someone discussing the ADT protection options available to us, and what would make sense for our home and family. I was very pleased with the meeting, and my husband and I were happy to sign-up with HomeStar Security. They were also willing to match the deals provided to me by another authorized dealer of ADT, and their rates are competitive with the market. I hope others don't make the mistake that I did of just reading the first couple negative reviews that pop up on Yelp. Some of them are outdated, and there are a number of 5 star reviews if you read further. I am happy I decided to do business with them! read more

Had a really great experience with the HomeStar Security team! They were extremely friendly and did not feel pushy at all. Sam and Brian were the salesmen to come to the door and they were both really nice and knowledgeable. Brent, the technician who came out, had to fix a lot of the problems left from the previous owner of our house. He was very patient and did an amazing job. He definitely is a very experienced professional! He even climbed around in our crawl space to make sure he could connect to the power source without unsightly wires showing! We had the camera set up on our porch (I was very excited for this feature since so many community members have been posting about their packages being stolen right from their porches!) and it looks amazing. He made sure to get the best angle so we have a great view from the camera, and no excess wires can be seen at all! It looks fantastic! And so does my house, he didn't leave any mess at all (and I can be a bit ocd!) Plus anyone who deals with my toddlers and cats barraging them as well as all of these guys did, get an A+ from me. These guys came to our door on December 9th around 8pm, it was dark outside so we were a little suspicious at first, that ADT would come to our door asking about a security system, the young man was very friendly and said by putting an ADT sign in my yard he could give me free equipment, being skeptical I asked about the catch, he informed me that it would only be the cost to have it monitored, we had been thinking about getting an alarm and had no idea that ADT had such a great offer, long story short we let him in to talk,he did a walk around of our house addressing areas of concern we had, and put together a camera package that would work with our cell phones! Because we had someone snooping in our back yard and had to call the cops a week ago we decided to get the system, we are so glad we didn't let our skepticism deter us from inviting him in, the tech came next day did a really great job with the install mounted our camera in the back facing the cars it took approximately 3 hours for the whole install. Now we love checking in on our driveway and indoor cameras it's awesome! A+++ Homestar ADT was great! read more

My husband and I were referred by a friend, for having a alarm system put in our house. I made an appt. to have them come out to go over everything with us. The sales assoc. was wonderful, she walked thought everything that we could do with our house. Then sat with us and spend all the time we needed going over all questions we had, with no pushy sales. At our install appt. a week later, I meet Brent that does there install work. He was wonderful couldn't say anything bad, he stepped inside my door while removing his shoes out of respect of my home. Which is very important to me, also I don't like it when my dogs bother people when they are not there for them. He had no problem with them going though his tools and watching him work . :) He was fast did a great job, no mess and made sure I knew everything before he left. Brent gave me is mobile number in case we had any problems going into the weekend. I have had Brent out on other time for something I messed up, he put me in at the end of his day and fixed it asap.... I would recommend them to anyone, wonderful group. read more

Any good review you read about this company is fake. They created two different YELP listings to try to avoid the negative reviews. Homestar is the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. First the bait and switch you with a special 'limited time offer' and then they over charge you for their service. When you finally CAN get someone to respond they promise to credit but never do. I am STILL getting billed monthly for service that I canceled almost a year ago. I finally drove all the way to their company headquarters because no one would fix the billing error and their office was a dump with mail piled up outside. Looked like only one person really worked there but on the phone they told me they had a complete service team. What a joke of a 'security' company. I have complained to ADT, the company who they resell services for, and have been assured that Homestar will be taken care of but I won't hold my breath. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. read more

There are so many security companies that don't care about their customers, however, HomeStar Security does! They were great explaining their services, answered all of my questions and the representative was very knowledgeable not only about what HomeStar offers, but also the security business. As a single woman it is nice to know I have an alarm system that is easy to use and helps me feel safe. Another thing I liked is that the representative made a follow up call after installation to make sure everything was going well, which showed me they don't just take your order and run. I also love that it is a family owned company, which was a factor in my decision to contact them in the first place. I have referred them to my family and friends, who have reported a great experiences as well. It's tough to find companies you can trust...I'd encourage anyone to use HomeStar Security! read more

I had a great experience. Our grandma thought she needed a system installed after our grandpa passed away. She had Homestar come out but quickly realized that having the system just didn't work for her. I contacted the local office and Brian the owner went above and beyond to help me get the cancellation processed and have the system removed to relieve grandma's anxiety over the situation. I was pleased with the quick and repsonsive service that we received and the caring and compassion shown by this business. The installation and service of my ADT HomeStar Security system was top notch. Unfortunately, I had it installed AFTER I had been burglarized. I experienced none of the issues that others have noted in their reviews. I'm puzzled by the reviewer who noted that the person parked his car down the street. What am I missing there? Also, this is a business and of course they are going to try to sell their product. Don't understand that comment, either. Maybe these negative comments are from competitors? The installation of the sytem was quick and the instructions for use easy to follow. I was very pleased with all aspects of this transaction and highly recommend this business. read more

Had a great experience with the company. All questions are answered quickly and I find them very helpful and assuring while learning to use the system. Our phone service was incorrectly installed, so HomeStar's tech wasn't able to finish his work. Even so, he was really friendly and patient and HomeStar sent another tech out to finish the job. At that time, Brent, completed the install as well as updated all of our smoke detectors. We especially like knowing there is a functioning smoke detector outside our girls' bedroom, which is upstairs. We also really like the the monthly payments are so affordable. I have used Home Star Security 2 separate times since I have been a home owner and every time has been a great experience. I had my first system installed in my original home and recently in my 2nd home. The level of professionalism with my security rep and the installation rep was excellent. The security reps on both occasions seemed like they genuinely cared about our well being and both did a very thorough job when helping us decide what type of security system was right for us. Lee H. is full of crap and has no first hand knowledge of what he is talking about he got his info from gossip he is the biggest ass I ever met. I know who he is and to say what he did with out getting the facts shows that he is as dumb as they come and should be sued for slander by Homestar for any lose of business that they may suffer from his comments Homestar has been in business for many years and cares about the people that work for them as well as the customers and will try to resolve any issues that come up so please don't believe everything you read get the facts for yourself . read more

I have to say that I agree with Sue R. I had the most professional and efficient service. Like Sue I have not experienced any of the issues stated on here by others. I was not pressure sold by anyone, in fact due to my schedule the office manager herself came to do my walk through. As a mother, she knew exactly what I wanted to make sure was covered in my home and did not try upsell me or try to tell me I needed more than I truly did. I like the fact that they are local and that you speak with a human every time you call. I would and have referred them to friends in the area. Had system installed for over 4 years now and can't sleep without it. Michael the owner takes pride in his business and has been there for us anytime we've needed an upgrade or on rare occasion a maintence need (once battery replacement on sensor). I chose Home Star Security because of the family business mentality, didn't want to be just another number when it came to the secuity of my family. I'm very perticular about my home, install went as scheduled and actually exceeded my expectations a bit by connecting my outside lights and garage door to my keychain remote. I had a great experience with this company. The representative who came to our home to get everything scheduled was super helpful and friendly and did a great job walking my wife through how everything worked. The installer came out a few days later and installed everything correctly and was fairly quick and again helpful. I have had a couple of questions after the fact and they have always been very responsive and on top of it. I have recommended them to others and they have also been very impressed and have provided me with great feedback. ON TIME!!!!! Very courteous! Chris was professional, efficient, and such a hard worker! Our older home had some wiring issues that made the job much tougher (and longer) than the average install...he never complained or came close to giving up! He knew how important it was to me and my family to have the security system up and running, and he stayed for about 7 hours, until it was complete. Excellent service with great communication skills and tech support personal better than the ADT arrangement ,I do believe ADT doing best to help everyone but HOMESTAR Security does what ADT simply don't have,willingness , when you call this number 425-412-3734.
