The fact that I'm no Martha Stewart is no secret - I guess I was born without the home-decor gene. I find the whole thing - paint colours, window dressings, matching loveseats - totally mundane. And that's why I was surprised to find a quasi-furnishings store I actually liked. Granted, Provide in Crosstown carries more than just fixtures and accessories for your abode. Among the designer espresso makers are some pretty fashionable clothing items, which, for me, broke up the monotony of the selection of housewares (lamps, vases, tables, cushions, etc.). Someone must have had people like me in mind when they came up with the concept for this store. On to the fashion! The general vibe of the store is very bright and open but still warm and cozy. Soft, luxe James Perse casual wear for the ladies and the gentleman inn your life will be welcome with very open arms as a gift for someone else or yourself. Tucked-away on the start of Beatty in Crosstown, across from Chambar and beside Fatburger it's home decor with a flare. Think of James Pearse casual t-shirts, sweats and that pancake-waffle material pajamas, cashmere and Marino wool throws, candles, wine decanters, vases and art paintings. Best of all? They sell Shereen De Rousseau, my favourite jewellery designer. I'm not sure what line of candles they were, but they have the most amazing scented candles and there are a lot of places that sell candles. They also sell Nespresso, the little Italian machine that makes individual cups and you just pop the little espresso packet in the machine? So neat and easy. read more

This shop in heritage row (Beatty Street) in Crosstown Vancouver is great! The customer service is consistently great and their product lines are always unique and very interesting! The last time I went in I was offered a nespresso and this is where I tried it for the first time. this was a great way to make me feel more at home and their autmosphere is a very warm and welcoming. We bought our new home while I was pregnant, so I really needed some help decorating and settling into our new place. We enlisted Provide for their design and home decorating services and we have not looked back since. After they were done, I can honestly say that our home looks fanEFFingtastic! Immediately from street scape PROVIDE HOME caught my eye. A sophisticated white interior complimented with local fir paneling and a unique custom line of fir furniture. A modern interior that features unique home accessories from some of my favorites: beautiful modern pottery from Rina Menardi to hand blown glass light fixtures from Niche Modern, to glass candle holders from Laurence Brabant, Paris, or the glass collection from Anna Torfs or Lawrence. For those who appreciate the art of Pottery, each of the pieces produced by Rina Menardi are sculptural pieces, seeing them in context with modern furniture will give you a good sense of how they compliment modern interiors, even the family at Inform Interiors showcases them in their B&B Italia room settings. I first came across the beautiful hand blown light fixtures in New York when I attended ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) and was in awe of their modern translation of the traditional exposed bulb, what a pleasant surprise to see that Provide Home introduced this New York design company to Vancouver by providing a couple of my favorite restaurants Chambar & Medina Cafe with their accent lighting. In contrast to a previous negative comment about this retail space being "pretentious?" - it does take a sophisticated eye to appreciate good design. There are no knock offs or cheap representations here, only fine investment pieces that are all about quality. What I love about this neighborhood boutique is that the Owners Robert Quinnell and David Keeler feature a number of local designers and artists as well. Too often our local talents are missed, Provide Home provides a platform to showcase the local creative community. Check out the jewelry designed by Shereen de Rousseau or the resin vases of Martha Sturdy or the stationary designs of The Pink Door. I came here to get some inspiration for some home decor since my basement suite is under reno from a flood. Very basic designs from many designers, however, there's a running theme which is unique cuts and materials varying from soft and hard. Neutral colors with some things having character. The guy running the shop was super sweet, friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable. read more

Provide is a great addition to the Vancouver marketplace, carrying unique and gorgeous lines - the space itself is absolutely beautiful and the service impecable. After having lived in New York, I was amazed to find such a gem in Vancouver! The owners are amazing, hand delivering (and wrapping!) a present for my brothers wedding at no additional charge! Absolutely worthwhile! I first disocvered Provide following a leisurely delicious brunch at Medina on Beatty street. The moment I walked in the door, the owner, Robert, immediately greeted me with the biggest smile and made me a fantastic caramel cappuccino just upon entering! He politely introduced himself and invited me to take my time and browse around the store. He was so demure and kind, one of those people that makes you feel you've known them for a long time upon meeting them for the first time! I immediately spotted the James Perse collection, being the clothes horse that I am. I tried a few pieces on and Robert was perfectly on cue, giving me bits of helpful advice when he saw I needed it to decide which pieces I should get without any personal investment on his part! Believe me I have shopped enough to know when there is the underlying investment on a salesperson's part just so you will buy anything! As I made my final decision I noticed Shereen Derousseau's jewelry collection, beautiful(!), and fell in love with it more when Robert told me she was a local designer. I was acutely aware, as I glanced around and chatted with the owner more, that everything Robert carried in the store, Rina Menardi, Jonathan Adler, Martha Sturdy, were of collections that the owner had taken great care to know, study, and love before choosing to carry them in his store. In the course of the time that I was in the store, I also noticed the owner had the same warmth and respect toward each customer that walked in, offering just the right amount of help, tailoring it to each customer's needs(magic!) and cappucino's for everyone who desired one! Provide left me with a true shopping 'experience', the store itself is absolutely enchanting and the owner reflects the balance of the quality of the objects/decor he carries along with the enticing charm of the store itself.
