My new Bride and I recently celebrated our Sep 2015 Wedding with a Reception at The Providence Cotton Mill. Wow was I shocked to see the review left by Charlene S. Apparently this woman (if she is indeed really real) was not fully informed by her Bride about the "Construction Discount Deal" that all of us were given by Josh to compensate us for the ongoing construction that is taking place on the mill in 2015. In leaving my "GREAT" review, I will address her complaints that really should be directed to her Bride and not the mill since I know for a fact that all of us (including her October 2015 Bride) were told upfront about the construction at the mill this year and therefore we were offered a HUGE discount over the regular 2016 rates to make up for any inconveniences. First, I don't know how she could say that "the photos on the website are misleading". I have seen all of them on their website and Facebook page and can attest to the fact that the pictures were indeed taken at The Providence Cotton Mill. The place is gorgeous and has that "Rustic" look and feel that we were looking for. I don't know what she was looking at but there is nothing fake or misleading about the place. Second, the "bridal suite" and "restrooms" have not been built yet and will be constructed during the second phase of construction that will take place this winter according to what Josh told us. The 2016 Brides get the new facilities. All of us 2015 renters were told this upfront and I am certain that this October 2015 Bride was told this as well. We were all told that in 2015 we would use a portable dressing room (like they use on movie sets) and a portable restroom (with real flushing toilets, sinks, lights, A/C, etc). We and all of our guests used those same portable facilities and did not have a problem with them. I remember Josh saying something like: "if Jennifer Lawrence can get ready in a portable dressing room for the biggest movie on the planet, then your drunken "BFF" from college can get ready in the same thing for her "big role" as a Bridesmaid!" Of course, in Charlene's defense, we knew (like her Bride did) that we were getting to have our Reception in a gorgeous venue that we would not otherwise be able to afford at the regular 2016 rates. It seems to me that this October 2015 Bride did not fully explain the "Construction Discount" to her guests and therefore Charlene S. should be fussing at her Bride and not the Venue. From what I can remember, I believe that Josh told us that the Sep/Oct 2015 Brides were getting a $2500-$3000 discount over the 2016 Rates. Josh basically told us that he was renting it to us for what it would cost us to go out and rent the tables and chairs on our own. I guess Charlene's Bride could have just waited until 2016 and paid the FULL PRICE to have her wedding in a completed facility! Third, Charlene S. is angry that the driveway wasn't paved?! Once again Charlene S., THE PLACE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND YOUR BRIDE KNEW THIS WHEN SHE BOOKED!! We had no problem driving and walking on a gravel driveway. Geez lady....we're talking about an industrial building that was built in 1888 and was on the verge of collapse before Josh started restoring it. We consider ourselves lucky to have been able to hold our Reception in such a Historic venue that is still undergoing extensive renovations and didn't mind that the grounds did not resemble a multi-million dollar resort! Once again, maybe this October 2015 Bride should have checked with Charlene S. first to see where Charlene wanted her to have her wedding at! I'm certain Charlene S. is a high roller and would suggest the White House but I don't think they would have rented it to her Bride for $1500 like Josh did! Lastly, we didn't experience any unprofessional or rude behavior from Josh or any of his staff. Of course, we all didn't show up with unrealistic expectations like Charlene S. apparently did. Everyone at my Reception was in awe of the mill and treated it and the staff with respect. As for being "unorganized", I am certain that Charlene S. was not told by her Bride that Josh and his staff DO NOT direct any of the ceremony, reception, or decorating activities. All of us do our own "directing" or hire someone else to do it. Maybe Charlene S. should check with her Bride to see who she put in charge of "organizing" her event! In summary, my new Bride and I were VERY PLEASED with our September 2015 Reception at The Providence Cotton Mill. We and our families have nothing but good things to say about our experience at the mill. Yes, I am a real person and you can actually view pics from my Reception on their Facebook page. Josh has done a wonderful thing by saving the mill and it's not right for this woman to bash him for things that he had already gone over with every single 2015 Bride. I am sure that my "Good Review" will probably be overlooked, but that's the way it goes.....the SQUEEKY wheel gets the grease! read more
