After making ageist comments about our father (he was a very young and active 80 year-old) and reminding us several times, as an excuse for why they weren't invested in continuing life-lengthening care, that he had been in and out of hospitals over a handful of months, the nephrologists and a cardiologist got together with a representative of the hospital's ethics committee and decided to allow him to die. Indeed, our father had been to hospitals several times. He was on a journey to discover why his legs were swollen. The doctors treated him with kidney-damaging diuretics (Lasix), which acutely (temporarily) damaged our father's kidneys, prednisone (which damaged his skin), and gave him a medication for destroying his immune system, as they incorrectly assumed he had an autoimmune issue without first confirming this diagnosis. Destroying your immune system apparently prevents it from attacking the body in an autoimmune issue, but it allows you to be more predisposed to getting infections or not fighting them. Our father did finally gain an accurate diagnosis: a very manageable form of leukemia that doesn't shorten life, if managed, which, after his correct leukemia diagnosis, he was doing. The side effects from the medications he was incorrectly prescribed during his hospital visits caused additional hospital visits, as the side effects were worse than the leukemia and leukemia treatment (which he was tolerating beautifully). While hospitalized for the side effects from the incorrect medications the hospitals gave him, he obtained infections such as RSV, C Diff, and a bladder infection. Due to my father's physical issues from the side effects of the medications, the doctors at Providence decided to not provide life-saving treatment and instead wanted to give him pain medication to lessen the effects of the death sentence they decided for him; otherwise known as "comfort care." We argued that dialysis could be an option as his biggest issue was fluid accumulation in his body. Providence's nephrologist said no, but when we asked for a second opinion, the second nephrologist said she would give him two weeks on dialysis only. We worried about this as it sounded like they would "pull the plug" after two weeks no matter how our father was doing. The dialysis was very effective. My father began recovering. His blood work revealed steady progress, which we were monitoring. He was chipper and not in any pain but also very worried, like we were, that the hospital would "pull the plug" on him as they had threatened by saying they would only give him two weeks of dialysis. We searched for how we could get him needed continued care after the two weeks and discovered that the state of Oregon shut down all long-term care facilities in the state. It would appear Oregon doesn't value the life of anyone who might need long-term care. The closest long-term care facility was in Seattle, Washington. We were ready to have our father moved to Seattle, Washington, if needed. While at Providence hospital, our father's kidneys showed signs of improvement, as he urinated with the appropriate color. On the last day of his two weeks allotted for dialysis, the hospital gave him a pill form of a medication that helped to stabilize his blood pressure so he could tolerate dialysis, which lowers your blood pressure while being treated, instead of the correct IV form of the same medication. The hospital admitted that the pill wasn't as effective or helpful as the IV version of the same medication, which our father was previously getting. Thus, on the last day of the two weeks of dialysis, his blood pressure dropped too low to safely continue. The nephrologist known as "Dr. K" let us know that she was going to let our father die. She refused to allow our father to again be on the IV medication that had worked for him which would allow him to continue dialysis. We argued with Dr. K on behalf of my father that if his blood pressure improved, would she allow our father to continue dialysis? She said if his blood pressure improved, she would okay it. We asked our father if he had seen a cardiologist while at Providence, and he said he hadn't. We got a cardiologist to review our father's chart, and she confirmed he could indeed continue on the IV form of the medication that effectively stabilized his blood pressure so he could continue dialysis. Even though our father's blood pressure was stabilized by the IV medication that was cleared by the cardiologist, Dr. K, would not allow him to continue the needed dialysis. According to the dialysis technicians, it takes a few weeks up to approximately three months for an acute kidney issue to heal. We were invested in giving our father that time. I received a bill from the Oregon clinic this morning. It was from an appt I had in 2024. When I…read morecalled them to see why I was just getting this bill today they said they had some "trouble getting authorization fully from my insurance (employers insurance). Its been over 16 months since my appt and I can no longer use my FSA for this bill- through no fault of my own. The Oregon Clinic gave me to other options and will send me to collections if I don't pay in 90 days. Beware of their billing department -they do not work with you and don't let you know if they have a bill still in process for over a year.

Their business/billing department is an unprofessional quagmire…read more They over bill, they harass & then threaten the customer with collections instead of contacting the insurance provider that they THE OREGON CLINIC HAS A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT with. The Oregon Clinic has a structured fee schedule with in network insurance companies, the insurance carrier will only pay for fees that have been negotiated per their contract. When a patient receives an insurance EOB identifying that they are responsible for payment of a negotiated amount, the customer is legally required to pay that amount. It is then The Oregon Clinics responsibility to contact the insurance company to negotiate any additional fees outside of their contractual agreement. I will never step foot in an Oregon Clinic facility again. Once was enough. I have also informed my family practitioner not to refer patients to The Oregon Clinic. I had a procedure performed, it took them 5 months to invoice me, and paid it promptly. The Oregon Clinic is now threatening me with collections for their over charges. They will loose this one.

He met me at my apartment balcony with my prescription meds. We cannot even drive it's icy windy and super cold in the middle of a pandemic. I am speechless. These pharmacy people are always kind and dedicated. I love the whole place. Very professional!

After seeing the doctor, I was left alone in the exam room for so long that I eventually got up and walked out. I was pretty much told there was no reason or need for me to come in. As I left, several medical assistants avoided any interaction with me, and the front desk staff didn't even acknowledge that I was leaving. At the time, I wasn't particularly upset. My frustration started when I received the bill. I was charged several hundred dollars. I was billed for a higher-level office visit than I expected based on the care I received. I asked my insurance and the office to review and I got canned generic responses. Between the unexpected charges and the poor customer service, this experience was incredibly disappointing. After waiting nearly a year to be seen, I expected much better communication and treatment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office. The wait wasn't worth it, and I did not feel valued as a patient.

I can't get into my doctor and am pushed off from one doctor to the next that doesn't want to deal with me. I can't get half my meds, basic referrals and tests. Simple follow up care after an ER trip where I may or may not have had a stroke has become a living nightmare. The entire OHSU system seems to exist to prevent accurate diagnosis and medical care. I've never had as negligent and abusive care anywhere and I used to go to Kaiser. Nowhere else takes months to make simple referrals and order MRIs. I have seen multiple OHSU doctors that need empathy and ethics training, at a public corporation where willful malpractice is tolerated to compensate for their critical lack of doctors and a CCO that routinely denies routine medical care. Doctors will lie to, gaslight and fight with very sick patients to get out of paperwork. Then they will lie in your record to hide the patient abandonment they know they just committed. Omitting dangerous vitals, abnormal tests and concerning symptoms is just business as usual at OHSU. This sicker you are, the more of a punching bag you become. I have seen 3 different doctors in this clinic trying to get follow up care and still have had not had my brain evaluated for a possible stroke I had a month ago. Recovering from a possible stroke has been like going to WWW wrestling matches where I repeatedly get beat down for having a major health issue. At a certain point this negligence starts to look like a system that does not want their sickest, most neglected patients to have any evidence of OHSUs negligence. I cannot imagine how many patients have died waiting for needed tests and referrals while these doctors lie to and abuse the sickest patients as if their medical conditions are a personal attack on their egos. I saw some attack dog NP yesterday who went through all 5 stages of gaslighting to get out of paperwork. She wasted my time acting like she wanted to know what was going on and proceeded to lie to and abuse me for 15 minutes straight. I told her the whole traumatic story and how I have a swollen artery and at risk for a stroke and that I need the MRI and a more urgent neurology referral that the ER recommended - very normal healthcare requests I have never had to fight like this for anywhere else. Her first response was that Medicaid wouldn't pay for it (discrimination). I said if the referral is urgent, Medicaid is supposed to. She then tried to tell me nothing indicated these referral/order and started invalidating all my symptoms and abnormal vitals and tests line by line. She twisted facts and rewrote reality while I was sitting there with a severe one sided headache. She denied I had unstable BP, lied about what the orders/report said and even read it off to me as if it proved her point. She literally read the words of the CT scan report "follow up with an MRI" out loud to me. She then said it didn't say MRI, it said I needed another MRA, like I'm an idiot who doesn't understand English, to try to make me question reality, which is the definition of gaslighting. She then became offended that I was getting emotionally distraught and shocked by her reckless disregard for my life. She said I had a bad vibe and "I'm just meeting you," as if it wasn't her job to meet patients for the first time in a literal urgent care clinic. She used this line twice, causing me to apologize and repeat that I was just afraid I could have a stroke due to swollen arteries that were seen on that MRA. She said "I'm a medical professional. I know what a stroke is," because my mere existence was an affront on this woman's fragile ego and her "not a real doctor" complex. This is the 3rd OHSU practitioner to abuse me in one month since I was in the ER a month ago. No one has denied I have a swollen artery in my head where I'm having pain. There is no follow care for me at Richmond clinic. So I will pay for my own MRI and will probably have to drop Medicaid to do so. Why not? Im already my own doctor. OHSU is performative medicine that looks very clinical on paper but doesn't exist in reality. At a point patients money-saving deaths appear to be the goal. How many former patients became disabled & homeless from preventable conditions and died living outside? I can imagine that the poor radiologists who dare to say the truth on a report get beat down in some sketchy OHSU backroom. Richmond clinic is a fake store front for money laundering scheme where patient care is "rationed" out until they die. What will they do when rationing medical care becomes illegal next year? The same.

In this case, I had something that I decided to go in for. It was easy to make an appointment for the next day online. I was seen promptly at my appointment time. The doctor was kind and professional. The front office and back room were clean. Ultimately my issue was a "wait-and-see" kind of thing. My insurance didn't cover much of my visit, which was pricey for nothing having been done, so I recommend making sure that your insurance will cover a visit. Ultimately I wish I hadn't gone, but that's not due at all to the Zoom Care experience, just the cost of medical care these days.

After two hours of sitting in a wheelchair next another chair with a decomposing meal under it, I asked if it could it be removed since it already reeks of human filth and cigarettes in the waiting room. I noticed diet and debris all over the floor and no one cleaning it up. I asked if the rotting meal could be removed and was told soon. Two hours later, it's still there but now I notice it has a dirty syringe in it also! When I was told it would be fours if waiting and this is late at might. I got there at 11, I decided to go a hospital with enough staff to actually run it and not this capitalism abuse den where clearly the money is fueled to the top while the hospital belongs in a third world country. There is no excuse for this. Do better.
