Great availability for Tee times for any early birds. Signed up at midnight Friday the night before for a 5:50am Saturday tee time and it was available. Course is in solid condition. The tee boxes could be managed better. Hard to find a level surface and there's multiple grass types. Greens were in great condition. Finished the round in 100 minutes. Groups behind me looked very backed up. I even saw a group of 6 players playing. If you want a quick around I wouldn't reccomend starting after 7AM. Range facilities are solid with mats and chipping/putting areas. Theres a grass area for full swing shots which is nice but it is for members only. Pro shop staff helped me replace my golf ball sleeve after the new one I bought was missing a sleeve. The girl working there was kind but gentleman working answered all my questions and helped me check-in but his tone and attitude gave me the hidden message of "please stop bothering me". I'm not expecting country club customer service from here but I wanted to provide feedback because there's always room for improvement. My expectations were to get a quick round in on short notice and my expectations were exceeded. I definitely will be coming back for early bird golf. I would look at other courses if you getting a quick early bird round is not your priority. read more

Ok, when was someone going to tell me this is the spot to be?!?! I went on a Friday night to the driving range and I fell in love immediately. I feel like golf courses give a winery effect, just so pleasant and heavenly to be at!!!! I started at Ace's Ice house for drinks and food and OMG I literally cannot wait to come back just for Ace's. SUch a nice atmosphere and the food was so yummy! Loved the open concept with the firepit! The driving range is literally so much fun. You pay for your bucket, fill it up, then pick a bay. There are 2 levels so there are a lot of options to choose from. It was busy on a Friday night, but I got a corner Bay on the second level and it was so perfect. 2 buckets of balls lasted quite a while, I was shocked! Loving the look of this course these days. So well maintained like a mini oasis in San Jose. Got my clubs regripped here and the quality is so far so good. :-) Fun 9 hole course. Affordable. Play is about 1.5 hours, but you could probably play even quicker if you get the opportunity to play solo. Great for fitting in a little golf during the work week. Just beware of the dog that lives by hole 8 haha sometimes it'll bark during your back swing! read more

One star because I happen to like the course, minus four stars for customer service. My friend was tagging along to learn how to play and was going to borrow our clubs, which apparently isn't allowed here. Instead of kindly letting us know we'll need to rent clubs at the shop, the manager just gave us a hard time about it and told us it's in the rules posted everywhere. I didn't see anything when I booked, nor a sign on the door, but ok. We went down and rented clubs and had a fine time. Tried to book another tee time on their website but it wasn't loading any times. I called down and the same manager answered the phone, rudely cut me off mid sentence and let me know they don't book out over 7 days in advance. Would be nice if they mentioned that on the site, and would appreciate not having a pissy attitude about it when I called to ask. Customer service here is horrible. Will be booking elsewhere. read more

I regularly play a round, hit the driving range, or take lessons at Pruneridge as it is very close to my home, well kept up, fair priced, and has an extremely helpful team. I took a fair amount of time off from playing golf and when I was ready to come back to it I definitely needed some lessons and an updated club fitting. I've taken lessons, and or played with, Mark Crase, Steven Mayne, Matt Novak, and Ajay Nair. I can honestly recommend them all as they are all highly professional, have flexible schedules, and will work with you on your specific golf needs. For example, when I needed to work on some of my chipping, Mark teaches a great short game class where you actually get to go out onto the course to practice. Steve was also very helpful when I needed to get an updated club fitting and he also worked with me and Titleist directly after the fitting to get new clubs. Over the last year or so I've gone through a number of new clubs, shafts, and grips trying to figure out what best fits my swing. I highly recommend Pruneridge's Repair Shop as Kurt Uchiyama has helped me a ton with a number of repairs, shaft resizing, lie adjustments, and regripping my clubs for an affordable price and with a quick turnaround. I haven't been here in a few decades because I go to the range that's down the street from my house. Just went there for lessons and it's very well designed and, more importably, very well maintained. Hats off to the team. I am taking lessons for the first time and I'm seeing immediate results. The elder woman with the broken foot had a broken attitude which made for a miserable experience. I've never had to deal with so many rude people before. As much as I appreciated the service of the man at the shop, the Karen bartender ruined the experience for me. While trying to get some food and beer from the bar, I tried to explain that my wallet and my ID got stolen a few weeks ago and I have the official DMV temp license, but she wouldn't listen and was very degrading in her tone, saying things like, I would love to serve you a picture of beer. I understand that they have the rights to not serve if no valid photo ID, that's very reasonable, I was just trying to be reasonable and see if I can get a drink. However, even after I said, I understand, can I just get a sandwich, she became especially pressed and told me to get out, then threatened to trespass me. it looks like she feels like her authority got undermined when I tried to explain my wallet-lost and using temporary license situation. While I understand if she couldn't serve without an actual physical ID, the degrading attitude and threats to trespass me was insane to me, after just trying to explain to her the situation. Very unlikely scenario for others, just wanted to put it out there in case people also run up into this lady. read more

I went to the driving range yesterday with some friends and went to the food truck after to get dinner. When ordering at the bar, the man taking my order was one of the most rude people I've encountered. I simply asked if I could swap the potato salad in my order with fries and he just goes "NO!"... doesnt make eye contact, and treats me as if I'm not even there. I thought he was kidding at first since it was so blunt but he wasnt. He goes onto say in a condescending manor that I have to buy them separately. In addition to this a woman fully budged me while I was in the middle of placing my order and this guy goes out of his way to cater to her as well.. This guy clearly has zero pride in treating customers with respect and due to this has lost my business along with my friends who were with me. Hire people with some class next time read more

Golf course is okay. It's not the best or the worst. Sometimes you will have to wait when you go on the weekend. Seems like every time I come here, the bartenders will chum it up with the male patrons but won't even say hello when I'm standing at the bar waiting to order my drinks. Had a club fitting earlier this year with Steve. He was very knowledgable and fit me into a set of Ping i530 irons. After playing these irons all summer and fall I can confidently say these were definitely the right clubs for me. If you are looking for a club fitting Pruneridge should definitely be on your list of fitters. They have a great setup with many brands and shaft combos to test. I've been coming here for years, and this is a great 9 hole course, perfect for anyone who's looking to have fun golfing and to practice. The driving range is two levels and on weekends and weeknights, you may have to wait your turn, because it gets busy. But if you can go on a weekday, you'll almost always find a spot on the second level. The range is old and needs updating, IMHO. There's a free putting area, and a chipping area for people who pay a special member/access price. They've remodeled the clubhouse and eating area in the last few years so those are nice, and the food and drinks are good, too. read more

There is a lady there who really just isn't all that nice, and really ruined the night for me and all my friends with her aggressive and harsh attitude. I dropped my clubs off over a month ago to get regripped by Kurt in the repair shop, and the entire experience was nothing but frustrating and disrespectful. From day one, he gave me attitude, acted like I was inconveniencing him, and made unnecessary snarky remarks about my older clubs--which were passed down from my grandfather and have sentimental value. Completely unprofessional. I was told my clubs would be ready in a week. When I showed up, they weren't. Kurt casually admitted he "lost track of time" and asked me to wait 30 minutes. I couldn't. I came back two weeks later--still not ready. Staff told me I wasn't the only one dealing with this problem, which says it all. When the grips were finally put on, they were done incorrectly. After all the wasted time, I just wanted my clubs back. One staff member tried to make it right by waiving the fee, but another stepped in and forced me to pay anyway--even though the job wasn't done as requested. Bottom line: zero accountability, zero customer service, and blatant disrespect toward paying customers. This wasn't a one-time mistake--staff admitted this happens to others. I'll be taking my business elsewhere, and I strongly recommend you do the same. read more

Took my first lesson today. It got very political at one point. Then when I said I'm out of if goes to politics. The other guy accused me of judging him. I told him I'm not judging. I just don't want to come here and pay to have political arguments. I'm came to learn golf. The funny thing is, I couldn't even tell which side of the fence he is on not that it mattered to me. I didn't want to talk either side of the fence. The instructor shut it down when I asked him is it always like this in the golf course. And by the way the lesson was good. My swing is already improving. I haven't played golf in 25 years and I don't want to relearn all my bad habits so I'm taking lessons for the first time and I'm seeing improvement already so I'm excited to continue my lessons. read more

I have to give this place credit. They have a double story driving range a chipping area, putting area, a bar/restaurant and a 9 hole course. It is the absolute complete package for practice. The driving range can be used in all weather situations as they are covered bays. The bar is full of on tap beers, wine and local favorite seltzers. A golf buddy and I have been playing a quick round on Sunday evenings this past summer. It is not a conventional time to swing a round but it worked out for the both of us. As it turns out I love playing on warm summer early evenings. It doesn't get dark til past 8pm so even a 5-6pm tee off is quite doable. And I can't speak for everyone but for some reason that time of the day is the most optimal mentally and physically for me. Put it this way, I'm not fighting fatigue and morning haze at this time of the day in the height of summer. I literally play my tightest rounds around this time frame. Pruneridge Golf Course has been a part of these optimal 'zone' moments for me. Straight up urban golf dead smack in the middle where millions hustle and bustle, but boy did the original designers draw up an old school gem. Classic American style with tight tree-lined fairways. Slightly elevated greens heavily guarded by sand bunkers, so when you do get into one, the top of the lip on that bunker can be at eye level. It is a nice mix of easy holes with a dotting of challenging ones which makes it more friendly for the not-so-serious golfers. Par 4 #3 is a legit tough hole. If you can par that with ease, then you're 98% better than anyone here. The only par 3 I felt was on the tougher end was hole #5. They finish with a much easier par 4 which I easily parred, even gave birdie a good look. Finish on a good note. Did I already say this was a well designed course that I happen to love?! read more

I had dropped my 4 hybrid back in August to get the head repaired. Had no call back, so I would come in person from time to time, to find out that it was covered under warranty. To this day, I still haven't received a call back about my 4 hybrid. I'm convinced it's lost and I'll never get it back. While some golfers will tell you the course at Pruneridge cannot really compete with 18 holes, don't let this deter you from trying this challenging 9 - hole golf course that borders an urban setting at San Tomas Expressway and Saratoga Avenue. Long story short is, do not spend your hard earned money at this course if you want the staff to treat you with any respect whatsoever. Today was my first time at this course. When I checked in at the front desk for our Tuesday 11:20am tee time, I was met with a grumpy older white man who proceeded to question me about whether everyone had their own golf bags. Fine, fair enough, those are the rules. We did have our own golf bags, so no issues there. Later out on the course, after hole 2, my buddy and I got a little lost. There is what appears to be a net on the left backside of the green so I didn't think we could walk that way. So instead we walked through sort of a maintenance area that looked like there was still a cart path. We emerged from the other side and played the hole that was there. Turns out it was hole 9. I didn't realize until we teed off and found ourselves walking down the fairway to the club house. At that point, I proceeded to tell my buddy to pickup our balls and we turned right back around get back back on track. I want to be clear that, I acknowledge that we screwed up and teed off at the wrong hole. I take responsibility for that. What happens next though, is the front desk guy comes out of the clubhouse and marches down to me aggressively and confrontationally. I was actually quite apologetic, and explained that it was our first time at this course and we got a bit lost, but found our way back to hole 3. He doubles down and keeps arguing with me as I'm apologizing about getting lost on the course. Has no one ever gotten a little lost at a course they've never played before? I was treated like I had committed a war crime. He then proceeds to interrogate me further and ask me what my tee time was. I pull out my phone as I felt I needed to prove it to him. At that point he's pissed or something, turns around and walks off to let us continue our round in peace. I'll caveat as well that this was Tuesday at 11:20. My buddy and I play quickly, and had no one in front of behind us. We got lost, we realized it, turned around asap and found our way back. I'm not sure why I was so nice to the guy to be honest, the way he was coming at me was so aggressive, I can't help but think that he might not have acted so confrontational towards me if I was not a rather friendly looking Asian man. I hate to pull the race thing, but looking at some of the reviews on yelp here, I don't know what to think. I'm still a relatively new golfer. I've played at about 10 courses, and this front desk guy was one of the rudest I've ever come across. I really hope that management looks at that review and thinks about whether they want their course to be welcoming and inclusive, or if they want to continue the tradition of gatekeeping and elitism in golf. No one is perfect, and if someone is coming to your course for the first time and makes a mistake, the golf staff should start with kindness. Help me find where I'm going, don't come at me aggressively. We are at your course spending our money trying to have a good time. Instead, I have a sour taste in my mouth about what should have been a fun time. I won't be back to this course. read more

as a beginner golfer who prefers 9 holes, i recommend this course because there are short holes sprinkled with longer ones, which allows for more swings/practice. the spacing is pretty tight (welcome to the heart of silicon valley tho). women's restroom is clean & tidy! their club house offers a variety of beers on tap & they have televisions to watch sports ball games. read more

Overall positive experiences at Pruneridge. Their course is a fun, easy going 9-hole, but a little tight so if you slice you might end up on the next fairway over. We primarily come here for the driving range. Only late night spot in the area. It's usually busy after work, waiting for a stall is pretty common but turnover isn't too slow. No yardage limit on the bottom level but the top level doesn't allow drivers. All my encounters with the patrons here have been nice and pleasant. Unfortunately, we did encounter one female employee who was extremely hostile and rude when asking everyone to leave during closing. If you live in the area, this is a good home course to practice at. If you live far, not sure if it's worth it. read more

My so called Home course, lol. If you are new to golf or been playing forever, this is a cool little spot. I've finished a (9 hole) round here in as short as 1.25 hours. Obviously depends how busy it is. 3 Par 4 holes, rest are par 3. Good place to bet your buddies for GIRs (Greens in Regulation). the course is pretty well maintained. Offers some challenge like a narrow fairway on hole 3 which runs parallel to San Thomas Expressway. i HOPE you don't have a mean hook or someone's windshield may get cracked on San Thomas! I try to play here every other week or when i can for a quick round. The practice facility is good- double decker bays (no drivers on top bays). They have replaced a lot of the range matts so they are nice and spongy. Work your short game and try to hit the plates on the range (~35-40 yards) with you wedges. Cost of balls is a bit more than other golf courses around here. Food here is solid. Get the tri tip sandwich and a cold one from the bar. The place is pretty crazy here on a Friday/Sat night, which is a good sign. the staff here is awesome. My kids took the golf classes and the teachers are good. Pricing on classes is a good price (1 hour group lessons). Just sign up early and be courteous and cancel classes you will miss. People try to lock up the schedule, don't show, and screw people on the wait list. read more
