On March 18, 2026, I met with Washington Memorial Gardens to discuss purchasing a headstone for my…read moremother. During that appointment, I was told I could not proceed with a purchase unless I had the photographs for the headstone at that time. Because of this, I asked another Washington Memorial employee whether I was allowed to purchase a headstone from an outside company. I was told that I could, and I was provided with the required size specifications and the fee that Washington Memorial would charge. Relying on that information, I purchased a headstone from an outside company on March 21, 2026. Beginning March 25, 2026, Washington Memorial Gardens has delayed the approval process. The first issue raised was the inclusion of my mother's middle initial. While her death certificate does not list a middle initial, her driver's license does. This discrepancy was used as a reason to delay approval. After weeks of ongoing delays, I was recently informed that Washington Memorial Gardens changed its policy effective April 21, 2026, and now requires all outside companies to complete a new application. This policy change occurred after I had already purchased the headstone and while the approval process was already underway. Applying new policies retroactively has caused unnecessary delays and added stress during an already difficult time. I acted in good faith based on the information provided to me by Washington Memorial Gardens and am requesting that my headstone be approved under the guidelines that were in place at the time of purchase.

Do not use these losers. I inquired in July as to where my great grandparents were located. They…read moredon't have a kiosk or any other method of finding out yourself. There is only a phone number. We called and left a message stating what we needed. Two days later, no return call. We called again and spoke to 'Tony' who looked and said there was no record of my great grandfather, even though I sent him a picture of his headstone from findagrave. I asked 'Have you LOST him?' Then finally we got the location. When we arrived, the groundsperson was working with a shovel in the general area and we asked for his help. Well surprise, he was digging years of muck that was on top of their markers. There was a red flag there, so obviously they were warned we were coming. We were still missing my great-aunts grave, so we messaged again. Silence once more. I wrote to the Better Business Bureau and after 45 days they have no response, but gave me additional options, like the Illinois attorney general, along with more. I'll be following up this week. Shoddy place, horrid customer service. If I could give negative stars, I would.

During a visit yesterday, I saw my grandmothers bronze vase attached to her headstone had been completely cut off of the headstone. The front office was no help and claim to have no responsibility for thieves entering their gates to steal the items we have paid for for our loved ones. The young woman in the office was extremely unbecoming and rude, when I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to I was told there is no one else. Don't recommend burying your loved ones here, look elsewhere for a facility that will actually show concern and has some sort of policy in place when things like this occur.
