I told her I would add it up myself to save her time and me money. Then she changed her mind and told me I needed a single document from my employer stating my overtime, which my employer could not provide. They told me to just add up the overtime myself. I told Jenny this. She then flat out told me that she will not claim my overtime unless I gave her a single document from my employer stating my overtime, and my pay stubs were not acceptable. She then told me I will not get a deduction from my overtime. Using FreetaxUSA all I had to do was insert a dollar amount for my overtime. I was able to deduct another $200 thanks to FreetaxUSA accepting my overtime claim. I paid $0 for Federal and $15.99 for state on FreetaxUSA. Jenny would've charged me $300. Overall I came out $500 ahead compared to having Jenny use her "expertise" by letting the computer do the work for her. Thanks for pushing me away, we will save $10,000 over the next 30 years by doing our taxes ourselves. I wish we would've done our taxes ourselves years ago. We've been loyal customers to H&R Block for several years now. Our taxes are always done within 2…read moreweeks and we've never had any issues. So when we relocated to the area we didn't hesitate to go to another H&R Block. We scheduled an appointment with a senior representative, as instructed by our previous tax guy, due to the complex nature of our taxes. The first meeting with the new rep was less than impressive. We were there for close to two hours. We left under the impression taxes would be complete within 2 weeks as usual. Fast forward 6 weeks later and we still hadn't heard anything. Called and left a message for the tax preparer. Received an email with a slew of questions about our taxes that had already been answered/hashed out/written down. Finally get to the closing appointment and everything looks great. When we were told the cost of having our taxes prepared we were floored. Our taxes have consistently cost the same for years, maybe only fluctuating a few dollars. But the cost this year DOUBLED and pretty much cancelled out our state refund. We were told it was because the last H&R Block we went to was a franchise and they could charge what they wanted...but this location was company owned and this was going to cost us 2x as much. This information would have been helpful to know when we called to make an appointment, before the taxes were complete, pretty much at any point during the process. Instead we got slammed with an OUTRAGEOUS bill in the end. We will no longer have our taxes done by H&R Block. I wouldn't recommend this particular location to anyone, let alone recommend the company ever again.
