One of the many things I appreciate about this business is they have a LOT of counselors to choose from and they work in tandem with their psychiatrists for the best possible treatment options if needed. His investment in getting paid became a huge issue in my treatment. He ended therapy when I was robbed of my life savings. He was also unable to make the agreement with me that we never discuss the financial aspect of treatment. He stated this is part of private practice. I disagreed. When I first contacted them I was given the name of a male therapist and at first said NO. I am glad that I changed my mind and went with Dr. Kukoleck. He has helped me more than the couple before him. As for the veteran, there are procedures that must be followed and dishing the company because you didn't get what you wanted is WRONG. Other therapist has said I suffer from PTSD, Dr. Kukoleck sees something different. I think their both right. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PLACE

In trying to find out about a drug prescribed for me by one of the other counselors, I hit a brick wall. Twice I have had a prescription refused by my insurance provider. I have tried to resolve this asking if there is a different Rx the insurance might approve as I can't afford the large out of pocket expense. The counselor who prescribed these is either not in or will not return calls. The office staff person who said she would call back did not call and is not in, nor will the other staff member assist me. She said "I don't want to get involved." It's never a good sign when a mental health agency destroys your mental health with its poor behavior. In addition, the prescribing counselor also ordered a drug that we had just agreed I would stop taking. I had no way to stop the order or to reach the counselor. I had to pay for something I no longer can use. Benhaven Counseling is becoming increasingly useless.

I've tried CBT, Art therapy, Counseling, and just about every medicine under the sun during that time with little to no results. I was convinced I was just going to have to live a life of unexplainable sadness and anxiety. Then I stumbled across Alternative Therapeutics and learned about neurofeedback. After speaking with a doctor there and doing a little research I decided to give it a go. This was the best decision I've ever made and the results were nothing short of a miracle. They taught me mindful meditation, controlled breathing and performed neurofeedback on me twice a week for ten weeks. Upon completion of these 20 sessions my sleep schedule was now normal and consistent, with very little fatigue during the day. This was a huge change as I was previously sleeping 12 hrs a night and tired ALL day. I was missing out on a lot of my life and just going through the motions. This is no more, I sleep 7-8 hours a night and feel energetic ALL day. I was also very sad without any real reason the majority of the time and feeling hopeless. This slowly subsided over our time together to the point that I have absolutely zero symptoms of my depression. This was a first in 10 years!!!! One year later I am still completely symptom free from my depression. I was able to get off of all the medication I was taking, which was exhilarating for me and helped me lose 65lbs. Weight that the medicine put on me. I think of my life on two timelines now, BNF (Before Neurofeedback) and ANF (After Neurofeedback) because the two are like night and day. The staff here is highly intelligent, dedicated, and compassionate. They made me feel very comfortable and were wonderful at explaining and guiding me through this process. Laurie didn't just sit in a chair and ask boring questions, she was very hands on. I was up and down, moving/twisting/turning this way and that way, all the while she had her hands on my shoulders, hips, legs - measuring/assessing/evaluating. Laurie determined my treatment plan and put together my team of people who will be helping me through this journey. Laurie was fun (a requirement of mine), laughed at all my jokes (another requirement) but stayed on task and kept the process moving. She was very engaged and a good listener.
