At first, I was afraid they'd be way too expensive, and went to the hospital's own PT clinic, which didn't help my neck problem at all. I contacted Sports and Ortho in Evanston, and once I learned that my insurance did cover PT sessions with them, I started right away and am very glad I did. Two, three months ago, I couldn't walk because the gravity of my arm caused great neck pain, and I had to sleep upright on our recliner couch. Now I'm almost completely symptom free. They do a lot of manual work here, meaning that the PT works on you with their hands. I won't call it a deep tissue massage, but to a novice it might look/feel similar. After the manual work is done, one of their techs guides you through appropriate exercises, which you do at the clinic. After a certain period of time, they'll add more exercises and also give you some to do at home.

As for the care itself, Emma, Christine, and Jose were exceptional. They truly listened to my concerns about my lower back pain and guided me through every step with clarity and expertise. Their knowledge and attention to detail made my decision to come here feel like a no-brainer. The facility is clean, well-organized, and equipped with everything needed for effective treatment. I especially want to highlight the dry needling, it was a complete game changer. I only wish I had started it sooner, as it provided significantly more relief than stretching or traditional PT alone. Within a short time, I noticed a major improvement in both my pain and mobility. I am able to (honestly!) run up the 12 stairs from the basement and ride my bike for six miles every second day. There is no pain in either hip. In the morning I wake with a pain in my back, but as soon as I have completed my exercises, I am pain-free. What a blessing! I use no analgesics, so that all systems are working well: no laxatives or sleeping pills! I have been seeing Dr. G for a few years for reoccurring knee issues. I was sad in 2012 when I had to switch him out because I had to be seen quickly and I didn't want to fit him in. His back up doc was a great replacement but Dr. G has the best bedside manner and has been painfully truthfully with my diagnosis and how I can get better. Now I insist to only see him. He'll fit me in therefore I should be able to fit him into my schedule as well. I've seen him a few times already in 2013 and honestly feel so much better knowing that I'm getting the best possible care. He's honest and kind and speaks to me as if we're on the same level, as if! I was not surprised when I looked under the hood to find ATI is private equity owned. The employees in Evanston are great, but when they tried to get visibility on how much visits would cost, it was an incredibly arduous process. When I finally received what I thought to be reasonable guidance, I proceeded but was told I wouldn't know for sure the exact bill until weeks later. When I saw my bill, the sticker shock was terrifying. Had I known what some sessions would cost, I certainly would not have been able to afford and would not have sought service here. Perhaps this dynamic was in play from the beginning and is why they don't make it easy to understand a general range of what service might cost. When I finally got on the phone with someone to discuss my bill, I was offered a 5% concession, then a 10% concession, then a 15% concession - rather than fixing my bill that was 200% higher than what I was led to believe. My heart breaks for others in similar situations and I hope healthcare gets the regulation and oversight it deserves to provide consumers with price visibility - especially for private equity owned businesses.

The tone of voice, attitude on faces and unwillingness to be courteous. When they claimed we were a no show when we did show she asked for a deposit and upon denying it bc we were not a no show she rudely said good day and hung up. No consequences at this office for the staff and poor management enabling staff to act unprofessional. This was August 4 2025 around 11:30am to 11:45am and then again today August 7th around 10:57am. Both employees were female. Save yourselves and go elsewhere bc according to other reviews they do not care about patients and have a track record for disrespecting. Shame on you all at this office.

I went to Dr. Gerber for bunion issues on both of my feet causing a lot of pain after reading…read morenumerous positive reviews about him. After a few rounds of cortisone shots and some inserts for my shoes the pain was only getting worse. After lengthy discusssions regarding surgery, a bunionectomy, he told me that the combination of my bunions and my second toe being longer then my first toe (the metatarsal bone) that the surgery technique he would use, which he said he invented, would solve pain/issues. He was going to cut the metatarsal bone on my second toe and remove my bunion. My first follow up appointment, 1 week after surgery, he was shocked that I was still feeling any pain. I have a very high threshold of pain and this was only 1 week after he cut into 2 of my toes! At another follow up appointment when I was out of the boot & in regular shoes, I told him how both of my toes (big and 2nd) were not touching the floor and were sticking up. He said, "they will never go down again." I obviously was shocked as this was NEVER told to me as a possible or probable result of having the surgery. Long story short, my foot is still in pain a year and a half after the surgery, and even more pain then I experienced originally because I am walking on the outside of my foot because my 2 toes do not touch the floor any longer. There is constant swelling on the top of my foot and swelling and pain on the under side of my foot. Also, my big toe is still curved in and looks as though there is still a bunion issue. I am including a picture of my now mutilated foot. I am so thankful that I never had him operate on my second foot! My foot looks deformed at this point and elicits gasps from people. Not exactly what I had hoped for.
