Pua'a Ka'a Falls is located on the Road to Hana and offers a small waterfall. They have a decent amount of parking and restrooms although they weren't the cleanest or nicest. There were covered tables which make for a good stop to eat and rest. You can view the waterfall from further up or you can go past the rocks to get closer. We saw some people diving into the water although there were signs saying it wasn't allowed. read more

Definitely a good stop to stop at during your road to Hana trip. There are 2 falls, a small and large one. We parked and immediately headed for the small one as not many people go to this one and it's easier to get to. The water feels amazing. There's bathrooms available but bring hand sanitizer as none of the bathrooms on the road to Hana have soap! read more

If you want to jump of a waterfall or take a swim by a waterfall without a 30 minutes hike, this is your spot along the Road to Hana. It's only a 2 minutes walk if even and a few obstacles in crossing the stream to get to a beautiful waterfall. It was ice cold compared to the warm beach water, but very refreshing and clean. read more

Stopped by here on our Road to Hana Tour and the waterfall was very pretty. We swam in the little pool. Totally would recommend having water shoes and the rocks get pretty slippery due to the algae. Water was pretty cold but everything was beautiful. read more

This was a great stop while on our road to Hana Tour. There is limited parking as usual, restrooms, and a short paved walk up to a waterfall and swimming area. The water was COLD (during our visit 11/2024) but worth a short dip given that the temperature was starting to climb by the time we got here! It would have been nice to have water shoes to navigate some of the rocky areas. read more

We stopped here for lunch on the way into Hana. The have about 3 covered picnic tables and bathrooms across the street. We knew we wanted to take a dip until my 9 year old saw people jumping from the atop the waterfall and she wanted in. The water was refreshing (although slippery in some places so bring the correct shoes) and she did several jumps. She had such a fun time she wanted to stop here again on the way out the next day. Since it was the end of the day, we pretty much had the place to ourselves and she continued to jump from the waterfall for what seem like an endless amount of times. She had a blast and we all had a great, relaxing time here. read more

So we made it back to Maui and the "Road to Hana" was once again part of the itinerary. The Puaa Kaa State Wayside Park was the most convenient stop we took during our first go. There were plenty of parking spaces, real bathrooms, picnic tables, and a couple of beautiful waterfalls! However, our group used the Shaka Guide app on our latest trip and this was not included as a destination. How did you miss this, Shaka!?!? Relatively small compared to the other falls, the first waterfall was just along the roadside. No one paid too much attention to it because the better option was just a few steps away, so I took some time experimenting on slow shutter speeds to get a silky flow on my pictures. No tripod and no ND filter - no problem as there were no people, too. The second waterfall had a big pool which was why everyone was in a hurry to get there. It was not as dramatic as The Three Bears, but it was easily accessible and parking was not an issue. There were people swimming and going under the waterfall. Maybe the Shaka app had a different criteria, but this was definitely a good spot to get the limbs stretched out and the bladder emptied. The waterfalls were a big bonus. read more

On the Road To Hana, be sure to stop at this little gem. It's a beautiful spot, with a lovely fall and nice ponds to swim in a nice, green area. There are lots of parking spaces, a bathroom and even some picnic tables. Even so, the place was pretty empty. I wonder, why this lovely place doesn't get more visitors. It's one of the best stops on the Road To Hana for me. Just cross the road and walk to the pond/fall for about 1-2 minutes. The few rocks are easy to cross to access the swimming pond. There's also an upper pool or some lower falls on the other side. It's really great to relax a bit, walk a bit and get some great views and pics. A great, well-maintained little gem. read more

This is a nice stop for several reasons. Restrooms You have the ability to use real bathrooms (not port a potties). It is recommended to bring your own toilet paper and sanitary wipes. Cleanliness and toilet paper are hit and miss. None the less, restrooms are available Picnic Tables There are picnic tables where you can sit and rest. There is enough room to have lunch and relax. I believe the tables are covered. Falls/Pond Finally, there is a waterfall that is very easy to access. Its a great place for some photos. This is a nice little stop to refresh and relax. Does this park have the best waterfall? No. but it is an added bonus as you rest and relax. read more

Enjoyed our time here a lot. Clean water, clean pinic areas. The rocks are kind of slippery but the water current is not strong so you won't be too scared to swim further out towards the main water fall. There are smaller ones down at the bridge but nobody swims there for some reasons. I was pointed to a muddy path at the right hand side of the water fall to go up on the top of the big water fall, we didnt go so now we are regretting it. I would stop here for a quick dip in its cool nice water, some awesome pics and a good time to eat your food with your friends and family. P/s they have restrooms across the street too. read more

-Went searching for Pua'a Kaa Falls and found out later that we did in fact find it, but didn't realize till after the fact (because it wasn't near as spectacular as advertised, as Twin Falls and Garden of Eden, right near by, were much better imho). Don't go chasing waterfalls...melody hums in my head by TLC. The Hana road that carries you there, a windy road with one car only pass bridges, beautiful views and breathtaking lush green trees and tropical plants of every color. It's should be a must on your Maui bucket list! Skip the twin falls and head directly to Pua'a falls. Which btw, is about 5 miles from Black Beach in Hana. (One of the best beaches on the island)! Back to the review... Well worth having to suffer slow drivers that may take turns even slower than the posted signs...lol. Along the way stop by the best BBQ on the island, Ka Haku's Smoke Shack, (look for my review of them on Yelp). Once you get there, pass the posted signs that says this is how far you should go. Go over the slippery rocks and jagged edge volcano rocks carefully to get to the Pua'a waterfall. Swim out to it, grab on to the rocks and go behind it and after act silly...that's what I did!
