Unsurprisingly an outdoor camp feel but well kept insides. The bathroom has 4 hand dryers. Wow for a rural area. Works great for last minute big groups. This center is near Lake Placid which has a USA Olympic Training Center. Another fully equipped rest area seems about 30 miles north. This explains a lot. Must be beautiful but isolating and serene here with the basics and minimal distractions. Also, not a lot of gas in mountainous Adirondacks and no gas at this rest area. I think I saw 1-3 stations on I-87 so far.

Lots of space to sit and chill. I saw few people working remotely from the center. There are lots of information about Vermont's history, nature and tourism. They also offer free coffee. There are multiple restrooms, some in the front and others in the back. There are two vending machines, one for drinks and the other for snacks. The outside area is also very neat and clean. They have picnic tables in front of the parking spots.

Williston North serves travelers to Burlington, Chittenden County and points north. The Vermont Information Center Division has a regional partnership agreement with the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce for operations. The center opened in August 2002.

Can't do better than this on the East Coast unless you are in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Note - The North area was already on Yelp as I passed through, and I did not think to add the South area until returning home. It is there now, and my comments for the North are equally applicable for the South. I stopped both coming and going. It is in North Hudson, NY. Can't explain how Yelp got it as Manhattan??

At the Morrisburg rest stop going eastbound, I was pondering whether to fill up my rental car. It's…read morean SUV and guzzles more gas than my own small car. I had thought about filling up at the Canadian Tire gas bar at the rest stop. However, all the pumps were taken. I simply drove off. I noticed a sign for this Petro-Canada. Perfect! I did a quick detour to fill up. This station is huge. It has Petro-Pass pumps and regular pumps. Pick your poison! I had no problems finding a free gas pump and filling up. I paid at the pump. Easy peasy! This station has a Hero Certified Burgers. It was sadly not open when I had rolled in at roughly 8:30 pm. However, there is a huge convenience store to take care of your munchies and more. This Petro-Canada is clean and bright. The signs were easy to follow to get in and out of the place. (240)

Unless you go in the morning there's a good chance the coffee will be cold, the coffee counter a mess depending on the employee or if only one employee is on duty and is too busy to keep up with the coffee area. Check expiration dates on EVERYTHING you buy! There are many outdated products! The flowers in the restrooms look nice too, but if you left up the toilet seat you may find its not so clean. I wouldn't count on bathrooms being sanitized either. Why? Many employees could care less because it's a part time minimum wage job that seldom gives raises, has little opportunity for advancement, and really bad supervisors. All the stores have a high turnover. Even poor employees don't stay long. Scratch the surface and its not so pretty.

Anyhow, this rest area is very similar to - and just as good as - the High Peaks Welcome Center some miles south on I-87. It's always clean, and the tourist information is plentiful. It has a Tim Hortons and a little shop so we were able to grab some drinks a bag of candy and a bagel from Tim Hortons. The bathroom bathrooms were really clean. The restaurant looks clean as well and they're seating area had a lot of nice tables and chair chairs. It was also very clean. Everything you need from a rest stop!

Tim Hortons, Burger King, wifi and washrooms…read more Ordered some fried chicken nuggets at the ONroute Morrisburg Burger King for a family snack to fuel up but something was wrong with the nuggets. Their taste was wrong. The whole batch was spoiled from being made with rancid, overused or overheated frying oil. This happens in two cases. When restaurants save and re-save their old frying oils, and reuse the cooking oils, it causes the oil to change taste become rancid, the taste changes and it creating nasty byproducts not good for your health. It can also happen if the oil is heated to high temperatures above 190 degrees Celsius, so cooks have to watch out for frying temperatures that are too high otherwise it will burn the oils and the foods being cooked in those oils. When Burger King used the rancid, spoiled oil to fry the nuggets, it left a horrible taste. Next time we'll opt for Tim Hortons.
