I was at the Public Storage on S. Gun Club Road yesterday (12/31) with my son when the female property manager (Barb) approached us while I was loading my car and asked me "What's up" "What's going on"? She was very suspicious as if we were doing something illegal? She then explained that she had contacted the person whose code we used to enter the facilty and that we weren't the correct person? I told her my name and then she corrected herself and began to apologize. This was a very odd exchange but most importantly a very unnecessary exchange and it seems as though she was working beyond her scope of duties. I went there 3 times on that day...the 1st time I drove my white car...she was outside and I greeted her with Happy New Year! I left and returned in my black car and this is when she approached us as we loaded my vehicle. Public Storage facility is no different than a gated community. You need a code to enter and exit. I am leasing a month to month unit there. I have 24 hour access. The authentication process is pretty simple and straightforward. However, if the property managers try to match unit owners to thier perspective vehicles or try to match codes to faces things will only get worse. I can only assume that switching vehicles is what confused the property manager but I need clarification on why 2 people loading a vehicle at PS peeked her suspicion? Unloading and loading vehicles is primarliy what happens at PS facilities? What troubles me more is that she began to wilfully misrepresent the truth by saying that she called the person whose code we used to enter the faciltiy and she didn't? I am that person and she didn't call me? There's no need to lie. She did apologize profusely but it was a very unnecessary moment and a potentially dangerously combustable situation. Clearly Publc Storage property managers need to understand that you can't profile people based on race or gender because this is what happened. It's insulting and very uneccesary. It tells me that although I am paying for the same services as others that I am not safe in this environment and that I should be particularly careful when I am there. There's nothing that says I can't send someone else to PS with my entrance code and storage unit key to pick something up? There's nothing that says the property manager has to be familiar with my vehicles in order for me to enter the faciltiy or that I have to be driving a vehicle? Again, this was a very unprofessional and a very unnecessary authentication step that your property manager took and was probably given instruction to do as such if necessary. What's more peculiar is that this all took place within 1-2 hrs? I looked her in the face the 1st time and said "HNY!", returned and she doesn't recognize me? What's important to me is that I, my son or whomever I send, be able to enter the facility without suspicion, without approach and without being lied to. There's no need for that. When I originally leased my unit, I inquired about PS not having an eye scanning device in order for customers to enter? But it's clear that even with that device you still have to pass the eye test of the property manager in order to safely be on the premises. read more

Heather was the young lady that helped us and she was amazing. My daughter and I waited while Heather finished helping a woman that was there before us. The woman was complaining about things that were completely out of Heather's control but Heather remained polite and very professional through the process. I don't know if I would have been that patient. Heather was very thorough in explaining everything to us and showed us different size units to make sure we made the right decision. She even came and checked up on us while we were unloading to ask if there was anything we needed. I will definitely recommend Public Storage and Heather to anyone who might ask!! If you like like ridiculous rent increases this is your place!!! They are going to take such good care of you. When I started storing by belongings here the rent was $ 214.00 6 months later it was $242.00 six months after that it's $292.00. I mean I feel a 30% increase in rent in the coarse of a year is very fair don't you? Now I get to move all my belongings. I wish I would have known this before I started. Beware!!!! read more
