Rented a unit from this location December 5, 2022 to hold prizes for our Schools Annual Gift Auction. An Auction to raise money for our school. (A Local school to this facility) Our Auction is March 4, 2023. I asked if they could please make an exception to extend occupancy of our unit by 3 days since we can't set up for our event until March 3rd and was hoping to avoid our PTA from having to pay for the unit for 3 days! 3 lousy days and they couldn't help out a local school. I even offered a page advertisement in our Ad Journal thanking them and supporting them for free. They didn't care. They could have easily helped even prorated us for the month. Very disappointed. Less than 60 days after moving in they increased my rent substantially. I'm still here after a year because the cost of moving to another facility would not be cost effective in the short term. I've gone from $248/month to $371/month in a year which is daft. I understand increases but 50% is highway robbery. The facility so far has been dry but there are no interior lights. I recommend finding a place that locks the monthly fee in for a year with reasonable increases. read more

Looking for a storage rental situation? GO TO EXTRA SPACE STORAGE IN TOMS RIVER! My family and I rented out our 10 x 15 storage space for two years at this Public Storage facility. Reflecting back, I wish we did not. When we first rented out the unit, the gentleman, I think his name is Matt that helped us was very nice and answered our questions well. The last manager, Heather was great in helping out any issues. However: - During the time we rented, the company increased prices at least 4-5 times on our unit. However, we did not complain about the increased rent. The first rent increase happened pretty soon after we rented the unit, which is a bit unfair. -The facility is not that clean -Lack of customer service and availability from the onsite team during business hours. I understand because of COVID-19, not many employees can be in the small office. Sometimes, the employees can be working on the property. But whenever we needed help or had questions, there was no number to contact on the office door if you need urgent help. Extraspace Storage in TR has a number that you can text or call if you need help if someone is not in the office. -No courtesy or customer appreciation. Because we had issues with our lock, we could not get movers to help us vacant the unit at the earliest before June 13th. No one would be on the property to help or even talk to. Calling the facility directly was a pain. We had read our contract knowing we would have to move out by June 1st, but our situation would not allow us to move out of that unit by that date. We finally figured out the lock issue ourselves with help from a friend to get even get into our unit. Customer service is not the priority of this organization clearly. As a courtesy, we asked if we can get a pro-rated refund back especially considering COVID-19 situation and its financial impact. I spoke with Dean and Caitlin who were the district managers I am assuming, who were nice but remained adamant on their stance. I know they want to treat all customers the same but in a pandemic and a recession, sometimes you need to also be understanding of circumstance and not only worry about your business profit and "policy." Clearly, this facility and company are not customer-centric or appreciate their customer's business. I would not recommend it. If you are going to pay using your hard-earned money for a service, go somewhere where you are valued as a customer. This is not the place at all. read more

We came here Sunday and were pre-registered. What a disaster. We are moving to Brick and need an interim Storage unit. On Sunday we brought our family to see the new house, planned on dropping all of our boxes, and then going to lunch. We had to wait 45 minutes in the car since none of the units that we would've been eligible for had been checked one was leaking two were not available since the people had not moved out. We ended up having a miserable day thanks to the disorganization of this company. We have another unit in Roxborough and had one in Jenkintown both with stellar service and never a problem. According to my husband the agent did try to help us but certainly we should not have had to wait 45 minutes when we were already pre-registered a great inconvenience and the units had not been checked as to availability prior to our arrival. The agent had called us on Saturday to schedule an appointment. So it was no surprise that we were going to be there. I was very unhappy as well as our family. Totally unnecessary. read more

Rented a 10 x 20 unit to store my corvette and store some other items since I was renting a semi furnished house on the water. Renting here was very easy, management and staff is very friendly. This place was a lifesaver when we needed a last-minute unit the night before we closed on selling our house. We called at 5:15 panicking because they closed at six, and they were able to quickly and easily set us up with a unit that fit our needs, and did the whole payment and reservation instantly over email. We received a text message with a personalized gate entry code and everything was set up when we arrived, including the correct lock. The only reason I'm giving four stars is that I wish it were open a bit later -- the gate locks at 9pm, which I think is slightly early. I also thought it was slightly expensive, with a $24 processing fee on top of an already slightly pricey rate. Still, easy and smooth experience all around. read more

This is a run down, shoddily managed property. (I was also a renter here in the early 90's. So I know how it was then: Better) the lights in my 2 units both had dead bulbs. The office person said she would have to schedule and to wait for their Maintenance person. After 2 weeks of no lights from 'maintenance', I bought my own bulbs. The one unit then had light. The Other unit had No electric going to the lights. I informed the on-duty manager, and she argued that the lights are a 'Convenience that we provide. They are Not in your rental agreement', Huhhh? This is winter in NJ. It's Dark at 4:30PM. Every unit has a wall switch and an overhead light fixture. Did the builder supply and wire them during construction as a Free Convenience to PS?? The Run Down part continues with the rusted out metal between every outside unit. The unit I just thankfully moved out of had a leak in the rear roof that soaked my boxes with metal components in them. The paved roadways you drive on through the property are full of ruts and bumps. Drive slowly and carefully avoid if you have a truck load of sensitive items. Now onto the Biggest Problems: The unit sizes, and the frequent rent increases after the teaser rates. I based my storage needs on the Advertised Sizes. My 10' x 15' Unit is actually only 9' - 10" Wide. And it is Only 14' - 2" Long Inside. That's the closer to size one. My first unit is listed as 10' x 20'. It is also the same 9' - 10" wide. But the Not Even Close Part is that it is ONLY 18' - 3" DEEP! (200SqFt minus179 SqFt = 21SqFt missing. They RENT 25SqFt *Alleged Sized* units for $75/Mo!!) I planned on 5 rows of 4' shelving in there. Obviously 4 feet times 5 is 20 Feet. Not 18' - 3". Hence I was forced to also rent the 10 x 15 that is really only 14' - 2" x 9' - 10". And if you think you will fit something 10 Feet wide in these 9' - 10" wide units, you better bring a big hammer. I have pictures of the tape measure sizes, but this review will not allow pictures. If I find a way to post them, I will. I have phoned this to upper management and told the counter person several times. Never a return call. I personally think that there should be a lawsuit on deceptive advertising. Bottom line: The ever changing staff there is pleasant enough. But I see why soo much turnover. They probably are frustrated by upper management that care Zero about correcting anything at these Orange Door'd cash machines. My advice: There are many others all over. And most other storage places have the Gate Code keypads that you can reach from inside your car or van. This one, you have to get out in whatever weather. Then leave onto the Drag Strip roadway that Brick Boulevard has become there. No Problem in a fast little car. Solid issue with a full truck that you can't jostle what you just loaded. Rent elsewhere. I can't wait to stop feeding this low quality rent monster. read more

Public storage as a whole as no customer service. Got an attitude when I only asked to use their dumpster to clean out my unit, then told that they don't pro rate rent anymore when you close out your account. So for only using 5 days of the month I had to pay full months rent. Also its hopeless to try and reach a manager or DM they are not helpful either. I have have this unit since Sandy and have spent a ton of money over the years on it. read more

My experience the day before with the manager Heather was awful. She was rude and lacked customer relation skill. What makes this experience even more unpleasant is that I payed an additional $56 for a 10 x 20 verses the 10 x 15. Problem is the 10 x 20 is actually 10 x 18! I had an excellent experience with today's move-in, thanks to the professionalism of Heather, the property manager. I had to change my move in date several times prior to arriving today, due to weather and work-related priorities, and Heather was more than accommodating. In addition, after we examined the unit together, we noticed that the overhead light bulb was broken and the door latch was a bit rusted. Heather promised that she would change both of these out for me, which only added to the positive experience. read more

I just rented a unit from Public Storage this weekend. I was very happy with the service I received when I walked in. Emily was helpful, friendly and informative. The units are clean along with the property and it seems they have good security. It was easy to rent a unit and made me feel comfortable leaving my stuff there. read more
