So I booked the truck then called the location. It was the best experience I have ever had with U-haul. Both gentleman (yes, I forgot your names. I'm sorry) were kind and knowledgeable. Very helpful. This place was fine until a few months back. I have had a vehicle stored there for a bit over…read morethree years. A bit high priced, but still, indoor heated storage with reasonable hours for access was what I was paying for. Then, earlier in 2024...then...they raised the rent and went crazy. OK, rent increases happen, but then they added a boatload of ridiculous 'fees' with little explanation, amounting to a double hit - raising rent twice. I'm tired of added fees for everything; just have an honest price and stick to it! About a year ago, a truck hit the main access gate destroying it. It has taken almost a year to get the gate replaced, meaning they have virtually no security, especially for outdoor storage. Now, they deny access unless you call them first. I used to have a code and I could access my property whenever I wanted (during access hours), after all I was a paying tenant. Nope, not any more. Now I have to call them to have them let me in because apparently I am not to be trusted to access my own property! I gave notice over a month ago as I found cheaper storage. I'm moving out on 5/29/2024 (tomorrow), the last day of my rental period. They know this. But, they sent a bill for June 2024 anyway! Really? They honestly think I will pay for June? Then, they decided to 'enforce' their policies and demand a certificate of coverage proving that each tenant has insurance. I sent a copy of mine to their e-mail address, as I have always had insurance on my property. They STILL added insurance to my account two days (5/27/2024) before my move-out day (5/29/2024) and think they will be paid? Disorganized and incompetent are understatements. If I were to search out indoor heated storage again, I'd avoid this place like the plague. They are unorganized, they don't return phone calls, the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing, their 'policies' are ridiculous, they are heck-bent on scamming every penny from tenants, they won't let you access your own property without a 'Mother-May-I?' (which is not what I contracted with them for). Were I to be just a tad more litigious, I'd sue them for breach of contract. They give lip-service to being 'nice' but really, actions speak louder than words. They wish to favor one tenant at the expense of all the others. Fine. I'm out. Oh, and sue me for the insurance fee and your 'other' fees. Not paying. Two stars because the facility did protect my vehicle for a few years, so it is better than zero stars. But I would not recommend them nor would I go back.

"Go try to find local indoor RV space..other than a barn we are all that's around". I have parked an RV on and off with Airlake Storage/Mayflower Properties since 2018. I have always paid a year in advance (or longer) and never received a discount. They have blocked my RV in, parking other RV's in front of mine, after telling me I would be able to get my 5th wheel out when I wanted. They even went as far as putting other RV's in my space for over a month forcing me to park in my home driveway and offering no apology or refund. After selling my 5th wheel I cancelled my space, gave them 30 days notice and understood there would be a $100 admin fee for the cancellation. Instead they used a clause in a new addendum to invent "Rack Rates" that they said were $674 dollars a month versus the $295 a month I was paying. This was the basis of keeping over $1000 of my prepayment. So not only would they get the space back and rent it for more than what I was paying but would also get to keep my money. Getting something for doing nothing is never good business. Developing contracts and policies that allow them to do this to customers is not what we want in America or in our local communities. Good luck trying to communicate with them...they can't see or hear you..."they have plenty of customers".

After calling around to multiple storage facilities in the area and being told they were completely full and they couldn't fit us in, Tim at Lake Marion Storage came to the rescue. While at first he said they were currently full, he sensed the urgency in my voice, and offered to walk the property to see what he could do for me and called me back soon thereafter saying he found a spot that might work for my camper and to stop by and try it out. When I wanted to move the camper to an indoor spot in the winter, without any hesitation, he stopped my payment for the winter while still holding my spot for the spring and summer months of this year. We recently moved to the other side of the Twin Cities and had to find a spot closer to our new home. I just called and said I had to cancel and Tim immediately stopped payment, thanked me for my business and cheerfully ended the call with "Happy Travels!" Only adjusting this overall experience from a 5 to a 4 because we didn't experience the indoor storage spaces, but as for customer service, accommodation and friendliness, I give Tim at Lake Marion 5 stars! I am writing this review as a WARNING!!! We recently needed some "climate controlled" clean…read morestorage for our furniture and other belongings we did not want to put into a pole barn we have during a home renovation. When I walked in to lease the space (we ended up renting TWO large climate controlled units) at over $600 per month I was told that the units were climate controlled, had no moisture or water issues and I specifically asked about rodents. I was reassured they had no problems. Let's fast forward to when we checked out. We ended up using the units for approx. 8 months, so we paid Lake Marion Storage around $4,800 in rent for the peace of mind that our valuables and furniture would be well kept. When we went to remove our furniture (moved in and out by hired professional movers). We found severe water damage to expensive furniture, and extensive RODENT damage!!!!!! The water damage was only in 1 of the 2 unites we rented but the RODENT damage was in BOTH!!!!. We took care to actually purchase our own moving blankets to protect the furniture and the RODENTS made several nests in them with the stuffing from our furniture and the moving blankets. When I walked to the main office to report the RODENT INFESTATION and WATER DAMAGE I was met by a manager who listened but had an excuse for everything. CLEARLY NO OWNERSHIP of the RODENTS OR WATER DAMAGE was going to be made by the management. The movers were very surprised I did not get more upset at the treatment of the MANAGER. Now in fairness the management will tell you to read your contract that says they basically have no responsibility no matter how badly infested with RODENTS or how much WATER DAMAGE occurs. The management actually said they have had no reports of RODENTS or WATER DAMAGE! When we showed the MANAGER the WATER DAMAGE and RODENT INFESTATION he asked if I had picture of our furniture prior to being placed in storage. At this point I said I can see by your attitude where this is going and walked away. If I wanted WATER DAMAGE and RODENT INFESTATION I would have kept our belongings in our pole barn and saved nearly $5,000 in rental fees. I did wait to send this to see if the MANAGEMENT responded in anyway. THEY DID NOT! WARNING!!!! STAY AWAY!!
