DO NOT RENT HERE! Pros: The staff is very nice. Cons: They work for a corrupt company whose CEO must lack a soul! They're doing the devil's work for less than $50k I'm sure. This is a classic tale of American capitalism, deception and greed! There are many loopholes in the safety and security here. If you must rent here, do not buy their insurance! IT IS A SCAM! Bring a homeowner's or renter's insurance policy with you when show up. Their insurance company will give any bogus reason to not pay out claims. I'm curious to know what percentage of their claims are actually approved. I've been renting here for 3 years. My storage unit was recently burglarized. MY LOCK WAS NOT BROKEN OFF; BUT MANY ITEMS ARE MISSING! Because I've been paying for their insurance policy, that I was told that I had to have at the time I moved in, I filed a police report and insurance claim. Needless to say, they denied my claim. The goal is to get as many consumers to buy coverage, only to deny claims when things happens. Their reasoning for denying my claim is that there is no proof of forced entry! No, my lock wasn't broken off but clearly some really savvy thieves found their way inside. It could've been the mesh ceiling or wall! In my case, it is believed that the tenant next door to me removed the screws from the adjoining wall, then took just some of my things in hopes that I wouldn't notice and put the wall back. The district manager sawed the lock off the neighboring unit and went inside with police officers and detectives to see that the screws in that unit were mixed and matched. Some were even missing. The wall was also somewhat misaligned. The renter had virtually nothing in there, which proves that he uses his lawful access to the facility to steal from other tenants. Because I am missing two big luggage sets, that wall seems to be the best way that thief was able to take them, along with other things. Two of the items that I am missing were placed in the unit on April 17th. They were gone when I returned on May 2nd. The insurance company wouldn't accept footage of me dropping items off just weeks before as proof that I had it there! When the employees of Public Storage reviewed the alleged thief's access history, it was found out that the man had been there regularly and spent an hour or more in the facility on occasions. The security footage from the parking lot shows him leaving with nothing at all even after staying there over an hour. Another video shows him putting several things in his car. However, the surveillance video is so poor, especially compared to the technology that currently exists, that we couldn't make out the items that he loaded into his car. The police could barely make out faces on the footage. Since his personal lock has been sawed off and he's been locked out of the unit, that tenant has not been back to fight his case. This speaks volumes about his guilt. How is it that he'd been there regularly in the past, but now he's missing in action? Weeks have gone by and the same lock that was was placed on his unit by management is still there. What makes matters worst is that when the city of NBV police arrived on the scene, they noticed that their unit, which is on the other side of my old unit had been burglarized also! The wire ceiling above their units was cut open. The staff told the officers that they didn't know how long their ceiling was cut open like that! So they don't even check regularly! I was given a new unit to make me feel more comfortable. The one they gave me had a wired ceiling that was already busted open! I rejected it! The ceiling in that unit is still busted weeks later. The ugly truth is that THERE IS NO WAY TO REALLY SECURE YOUR ITEMS HERE! Don't let their big display of camera monitors in the office make you feel safe! There are about 3 cameras! None in the elevators or on the floors. The pedestrian doors to the gate can be opened without a code. The entrance to the facility is open 24/7. All of this makes it super easy for people to get in and pick through people's things without ever being caught. There's even possibility of violent attacks without any proof of the crime! Employees will insist that you have to have insurance at the time of move-in BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THEIR INSURANCE SCAM! Based on my research and my recent experience, Public Storage is scamming the American public out of millions of dollars via the bogus insurance policy that is forced upon tenants. Its affiliate, Sedgwick CMS is wrongfully denying claims to satisfy its client--Orange Door Insurance. Do not be fooled. Orange Door Insurance is just a subsidary of Public Storage. They have no intention on providing insurance for the safety of your property.Their goal is simple--take your money and keep it. I've read horror stories of customers on various websites that were denied claims even when their lock had been broken off! read more

The staff at this location are horrible, unprofessional, useless, lazy, and incompetent! Has to be by far the worst customer service I've ever experienced anywhere! I had furniture I needed to bring from my car to my climate control unit. The dolly that's supposed to be at the door was not, so I went inside to ask the staff if they new where it was. They told me to go look in the building down the aisles. So I went and looked down the aisles for the dolly and didnt locate it. So I went back into the office to let them know it was no in the building. They then told me to look at the next building. At that point I told them I dont think its my job to search their facilities for it. They suggested one of the smaller dolly's across from the office. So the manager Diana finally got up off her hot seat to grab one. She tells me the dolly's are courtesy and they did not have to provide them. She hands me the dolly then grips it and begins to lecture me about returning it. So then I said did you lecture the other customers who did not bring back the dolly I was looking for? So she begins to get upset, and would not let go of the dolly. So then I ask if she was holding me hostage to listen to her lecture. So at this point I'm getting pissed because I just want to get my furniture in my unit. So all of a sudden the guy Greg storms out and snatches the dolly away and puts it back in the storage unit. So at this point, I got on the phone with corporate to make a complaint, and one of the first things I ask is, if its the customers duty to search for the dollys. The agent on the phone said that "it WAS NOT". While on the phone, Greg says he's calling the police. I'm like really? Because you don't want to do your job? I said please call them so I can report the harrassment. All in all I had to carry my belongings to my unit by hand by myself. If I had knew I would not have been able to use the courtesy dolly I would have made arrangements to bring my own or at least have help. This staff is a bunch of lazy bums, and all need to find another career maybe one that requires them to reject customers from using the courtesy dolly's, they would stand out amongst the incompetent. If you dont like your job or want to work there....FIND ANOTHER JOB!!! Dont take it out on the customers. I work for customer service, and in the end, the customer is always right. I give this public storage at Oakland the biggest HEE-HAW, because they get "Donkey of the Day" everyday! Sad. read more

Public Storage has to be the worse company to store your stuff with. Beware of their tactics. They don't send complete invoice, when they do send an invoice it's incorrect and missing line items and not sent in a timely manner. They don't answer any emails you send them. If you give them your phone number. They will spam you with text messages and refuse to stop. Asking that you come to their facility to sign paperwork for them to stop. Which is illegal. They constantly change your monthly payments without proper notice. Avoid storing your items here by any means necessary. Public Storage is a scam company with absolutely no ethics at all. One of their biggest scams is the locks on the units. They charge you $24 for each lock that cost $4. But here's the thing, they don't tell you this until after you've paid for the unit. The locks they use can't be found even at Home Depot or Walmart. The locks are only available online at a cost of no more than $8. If they remove the lock from your unit. They keep it, they don't return it. They actually use a master key to unlock and than make you buy another one for $24. Dollars read more

I have been a customer of Public Storage since last year, I started at other facility but was not as happy with them as I am with this one; the staff and specially Diana make feel like having my storage room at home. Diana is a really customer oriented manager she does "the extra mile" with the customers without loosing her professionalism and sweet attitude, she is always eager to help and support. The staff is very helpful and very friendly, even the "Big Guy" of the facility. This place on Oakland Park Blvd "sucks" the even the unit was on an AC controlled building it never worked.... was hot as hell all the time. The trolley car to move the stuff around one have to look for it because it's never in place. They affirm having security cameras but don't mention that inside the building there is no such security camera working at all. I made reservations online for a 4x7' unit. Public Storage followed up immediately and I made plans to go and see the unit. I was met by Mark at Public Storage who showed me the unit and thoroughly went through what would be required. Mark was efficient and pleasant during this experience. I had a short stay at this Public Storage. My experience was a very positive one. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Shortly after I moved in I received a call asking how my move in went and if I was happy. They called me to remind me of my rent so I could avoid a late fee, which I really appreciated.
