Public Storage came into Ocala, bought all of the independent storage properties and then jacked up the price of storage. There is no onsite support and the remote support is terrible. I pay for a unit on the second floor and the elevator was broken for over a month. No one ever responded to my multiple inquiries about when it would be fixed, but they charged full price for rent! read more

Public storage management is very poor. Tonight I tried to exit my facility and the gate would not open. The customer service person had no one to call. We had to call the fire department or we would have been locked inside all night long. Other problems I had in the past required at least three calls each time to get things resolved. One problem is the person you get on the phone has no authority to handle it. It has to be passed onto a manager who often does nothing. Recommend you use another company if possible. read more

Do not rent here, no matter what deal they offer you- they will increase your rent by $20 every few months & are literally impossible to contact. Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Automated phone system for your location sends you on a loop- 1800 CS number as well- and chat w an agent is bogus. The facility itself is fine, safe, secure and well lit. I was never nervous to go alone at night which I did many times. HOWEVER, the run around you get trying to get in touch with someone from Public Storage, the new owner, is infuriating. You stay on hold for too long to be told that they've handled the issue, mine was move-out, after several weeks and 4 calls they have finally finalized my move out. All the while emailing and texting me that my rent was past due, which they can turn in to the credit bureau, but the unit had been cleaned, emptied and lock removed since the day before my scheduled move out. Good luck getting in touch with the property managed, goes to an unanswered voice mail. Forgot to mention my rent also went up $70 over night because of the change to Public Storage. read more

I closed my account due to excessive increases. I empied out my locker the day before it renewed and called and closed my account. The next day they charged me $181. I called them back and they said they would mail me a check. Its a month later now and still no refund. There customer service is trash. They refuse to put the money back on my account they took it from and say I have to wait almost 2 months for a check in the mail. read more

I have been renting a space for my RV for severla months when the storage center was sold to Public Storage. Within a month they raised my rent by over 20%. Then they sent me an email stating that my RV was not in compliance with a number of their bylaws. My RV is an almost brand new Winniebago. I went through the list of infractions in the email and none of them applied to my RV. I visited the RV the next day and everything was in order. The RV was clean and in running order. I called Public Storage to find out why I received the email and they couldn't find the email. They said I would have to speak to the site and they transferred me where I imediately went to voicemail. I left a message asking for a return call to find out exactly what the issue was. That was a week ago and I have not received a call back. Because of this I have decided to discontinue renting storage from Public Storage and will be moving to an indepentdent storage facility. read more

This auto self service facilities concept is a FAIL! THE SIGN SAYS ON THE GATE CLOSES AT 10PM ! your customer service department says the sign doesn't say that because the computer told them the facility closes at 9pm! So if you leave to grab something and come back and you left ppl there or your animal there you can't even get a customer service rep to open the gate and there is no.pedestrian gate to access your literally trapped outside and no one will help you get in under any circumstances! Your customer service reps tell you things like well I would never leave my kid there or my animal to run down the street, as if their opinions matter to the customer! Just because California wants to close at 9pm don't mean the rest of the country stops moving and goes to bed ! There are 24 hours in a day and we should have access to our property at anytime! I had no choice but leave a larger note wrote in chalk for the maintenance man to see on the window because there is no one answering supervisor calls at 9pm there's no property management there's no remote access and no way to get help or acknowledgement of needing immediate assistance! We are humans not machines we all have different needs and schedules ! If your company wants to go fully automated no human support even in emergency situations then i suggest you give your reps access to remove entry or one day your gonna have ppl trapped just like me who won't use chalk to leave notes ! Those gates are not cheap to replace and desperate times call for desperate measures! This is definitely not a good company to leave your belongings with ! I'll be calling the attorney general and better business bureau and I'll post this same review all over the internet because if your willing to water my time and money I'm willing to spend time writing bad reviews to decrease your profits off people! Hidden fees including a mandatory insurance and a lock that is $20 but less quality than a $14 dollar lock from Walmart and a admin fee of about $30. That being said the lock is refundable and they currently have a $1 for first month making everything a little under $60 for the first month. Secured with a gate that can be unlocked through their app or a gate code. Fairly sized but when they say 10 by 10 it's really 9 by 10 of usable space as a foot is included in the gate and the small part outside of the gate. Employee is very helpful and kind but there is only 1 working at a time so I had to wait outside the office while she took lunch and then helped another customer. Not her fault but it is public storages fault. I feel it's closer to a 4 star quality but if I could I'd give 7/10 (3.5/5) read more

My significant other died. The unit is in his name. Due to extended illness & having a problem with them about me having access. The unit manager had him set.me up as an "authorized representative". He died on 6/22. I have struggled with half income to keep it good. I just paid $400 to keep it good. My daughter is coming to help me unload the unit. They are refusing me access. Says he must come with his ID. Or a death cert & a notarized letter giving me permission. Who is the letter to come from? Dont make the mistake I did. Cause they must be a crooked company trying to hijack a unit. We have rented from them for 15 yrs dont make the same mistake as they are liars & will non stop jack up your rent!!!!! read more

we're getting new tile put in sunday and we need to move our couches out temporarily ... so we figured get a 10x10 at the storage place right up the road.... my husband went up and asks price gets quoted 105... ok whatever... the person says do it online... so i go to do it online... reserve it... fill out rental stuff... submit payment and then it says there's an issue ugh so i call.... it's a KNOWN ISSUE FOR THEM where payments don't process... but !! it's holding on my card now... so i'm out the money being held and don't have a unit and the storage place can't do anything and the hold won't drop for at least 6 days.... THIS is why i don't do this stuff online!! they KNOW this is an issue and still tell people to do it online !! i'm just... i was using a cc because i didn't have that much in the bank.... and they just shrug their shoulders say sorry nothing we can do ....0/10 would not recommend working with this company! read more
