I just had a very interesting experience in the public's deli (5211 Sheridan Plaza). I was trying to order one of the subs that are on sale as their deal of the week which is normal. I asked them for lettuce tomato and onion on the sub and I was informed that they do not have any tomato right then. I asked if we go to the produce section and get a tomato so you can cut it and I can have it on my sandwich. They replied no because it messes up their inventory for the week as they are a multi-million dollar business and their concerned about a tomato over making a customer happy. Mind you this is the answer I got from the manager not the employee. We probably going to this Publix four or five days a week on the way home from work to pick up something to eat for the night this will be the last time that I shop at this Publix I'm going to go to the one that's a little further from my house because they've always taken care of me and I've never had an issue I think this is utterly ridiculous I couldn't get them to slice a tomato. read more

Whenever I am in need of specialty items, like kosher meat, I make my way to this location. I usually avoid coming here because it gets extremely busy especially after 4. At that time parking is scarce, the ailes are crowded, and taking a number at the deli counter is serious business. It also takes forever to check out no matter if all registers are open. They do have a lunch area where you can take your sandwich and coffee and relax. I try to go early in the morning. read more

I realize I'm reviewing a chain supermarket but just indulge my South Floridian nostalgia for a moment. Now, for those of you who know me personally, which is many of you at this point, you know I am not the biggest fan of South Florida. But, there are some areas in which South Florida just cannot be beat. Beaches and chain grocery stores are the two that come to mind. The beaches in South Florida have spoiled me forever. No beach compares in my mind to Hollywood beach and no supermarket compares to my childhood Publix. So, I'm yelping about my favorite chain grocery store of all. The Publix on Sheridan and 56th Ave. This is the Publix I grew up going to. Sure, there were closer ones because there are more of these than one knows what to do with but this one was the best. And they were open really early and really late and for some reason we were always going to the grocery store at odd hours. And while this Publix was great when I was growing up, it is simply fantastic now. First of all, it's huge. It has everything you've ever wanted. Things that I wouldn't have thought would have caught on in South Florida like organic items or healthy products are now well stocked in this Publix. It is clean. Super clean. I have lived near some smelly, sticky, gross supermarkets and Publix is just a gleaming mecca of a grocery store. The produce always seems the freshest to me in South Florida and this Publix is the freshest of all. They have a fantastic bakery and deli and their ready made food is really good, too. Honestly, I'm just happy strolling around this Publix and went simply for nostalgia's sake and enjoyment while I was there last week. I know, I know - this truly is evidence of there being very little to do in Hollywood, FL for entertainment. This Publix has spoiled me. As far as regular chain supermarkets go, this is the Hollywood Beach of supermarkets! So, go ahead, make fun. Call it "Pubics" as you laugh as though nobody else has ever made *that* joke. Worst guest service i had experienced at this Publix. Came in for 3 items and was behind someone who had 20 items give or take. The lady told the cashier she for got her wallet outside and she ran out to get it. One of the largest Publix's I've been to and seemed very clean and organized. They even have a liquor store, which I don't recall ever seeing in any other Publix. Parking can be a pain, just because it's always so packed, so expect to park a little far and walk. Even though there were a lot of people they have several lanes for checkout and also for 10 items or less and it moved quickly. The Publix in my new neighborhood is the best! Everyone was so cordial and respectful, everything was so clean and organized, and when I asked one of the employees (a young man of about 16? Wished I would have made note of his name!) where the almond milk was, his response was "it's right around the corner ma'am but don't move, I'll get one for you!" Whoa, color me pleasantly surprised. Sooooooo disappointed!!! Today we celebrate the birthday of my 2 Y old daughter and all my friends always said that the bakery in Publix is the best way to go. I ordered ONE WEEK AGO empanadas and the cake. Because some of the guest by religion are vegans, 1/3 of the empanadas was of spinach. Today, 1 1/2 hour before to the pick up they call me to say they don't have spinach empanadas, just to let me know and asking if I want to fill the order with Oder kind and I don't hear along the whole conversation any kind of apology even after I explain the situation. Also when I pick up the order, the cake was done in a different color that I request. Not a very nice experience at all!!!! Don't you suppose to order with time to let them plan their supplies?? Came into the Pharmacy for a Varacella vaccination. I handed the pharmacy tech my insurance card and was originally quoted $165 for the first part of a two part series. She asked if I had a prescription card and unfortunately I didn't. Crystal went to great lengths to call both my insurance company and CVS pharmacy(because my father has filled prescriptions there) in order to get the pharmacy card number. She typed the number into the computer and my price for the vaccine went from $165 to $0. If it wasn't for Crystal I would've been paying $330 for both vaccines. Thank you so much Crystal! This is directed towards the Deli counter at this location. It's horrible! If you have to wait in line, plan to wait a long time. They are always short staffed and extemely slow. So then you try to order online to avoid this, but when you come to pick up your order at the time its says it will be ready (which is an hour after ordering it) it is never there! This has happened to be more than once. In fact I am waiting at the deli as I'm writing this because they "never received" my online order. So ridiculous! read more

At this Publix I probably go to get lunch and groceries multiple times in a week. One person that shows her professionalism is Sheila at the front express cashier. Each and everyday she is quick and I am always back on time to work. Without her ability to be consistent and effectively run the express cashier I would probably not come to publix for my lunches and groceries for our staff. This is really one of the best supermarkets. Everyone is friendly and attentive. This store has everything along with great management. I always find everything that I need and feel great about being in that shopping center. I sometimes wait a bit more so I can purchase everything I need there. ive been shopping at this location for the past 18 years since I moved to Hollywood. Everyone is nice, helpful, and the customer service is good. I shop there between 2-3 times a week, and I decided to put a complaint because it's the second time that I was mistreated by Micaela. She is very rude, unprofessional, and I do not think she should work with customers. If it was up to me all I think she could have done is put items on the shelves. When I complained to her of how she treats a customer and I told her I will complain about her she started laughing. What a shame I thought Publix trained their employees. I've been coming to this store for over 18 years. This is my favorite store. They're always fully stocked and the food is always fresh. Throughout the years I've had a couple of issues with some of the employees. One of the workers is in the deli and she just has a horrible attitude, I don't know how she works with the public. I've told the manager Chuck about her and he never did anything about it. The other issue was with a cashier and of course I've only seen her once and immediately called Mike the store manager so that he can check her. She asked me a question that made me feel very uncomfortable I told her not to ask me again and since when was it a policy and she said since now so I did not appreciate her attitude or her lies. I won't let those two women bother me. I'll continue to ship there for as long as I can. read more
