When I am in the area, my family and I try to stop by this store. It is a nice store. Parking is very easy and clean. Its such a nice parking lot. There are many other stores in the area. The layout of the grocery store is easy to navigate, and the aisles are wide enough to get through. They offer an array of products. I find their deli selection to be pretty expansive. The produce is generally clean, and I hardly see rotten produce. Their meat is cut nicely and they offer a variety of meats. The cost is comparable to other stores. There is often pretty good deals/sales. The staff has been great. They are so kind. The cashiers are amazing, well at least the ones I have come in contact with. read more

I love this Publix. Although it's busy, they still provide you with great service. I ashamedly saw the viral salad online and drove here to try it. Just so happened that full sized salads were half off. I did get the hot honey chicken salad and it was SOOOOOOOOO good. Then I got the Mac and cheese bites from the ride home and they were ok. I must only give 3 stars because of their PRICES. Very up there in value but price is overwhelming. You cant possibly want for anything in this store, and its very clear, well kept up and employees seem to please. For the.most part Publix's is the place to go for hard-to-get products you just cant find anywhere else. I don't shop here often because of the trekking distance, and, the prices. Publix is a popular grocery store chain in the south and Williamsburg has the closet store for this area of VA. I heard of good finds that is a staple product of Publix, but unfortunately I did not find any of my wish list at this store. This particular store used to be Wegmans and the set up is still of Wegmans. The prices are a little more than other stores, which I believe they are actually known for that Lol! What a great store! I wish there were one in Newport News. A nice associate told me there will be one in Suffolk soon so I may have to check that out. We grabbed fried chicken to go- and yes if you thought Farm Fresh was good... try this! Lots of cool brands and offerings you can't find at other grocery stores. This is my neighborhood grocery store! What on earth would I do without them? I am so lucky to live just around the corner from them. They have almost everything that I need for everyday living. Organic produce, breads, proteins, dairy, and even the probiotics our family uses. The staff there is always courteous and oftentimes asks me if I need help to my car, even if I only have a few grocery bags. There is a cafe, a sandwich counter and probably some of the best fried chicken you'll ever have. I'm actually obsessed with their fried chicken, especially when it comes out freshly made! They almost always have it, except for early in the morning or late at night. Of course I love it when some of my favorite products are on sale, too! Parking is plentiful and if there is something you can't find there, go to the nearby Target store (in the same plaza). read more

Looking for the worlds greatest grocery store? Well this is it! By far the best grocery store my family and I have ever been too. We saw so many things I've never seen before! Greatly impressed! I was literally taking pictures of so much stuff because I loved it here so much. I did notice some things were about $1 more than Target, but I simply do not care! Review of my visit to the deli on Friday, November 11, 2022. 3-star for first visit. Long line made for a slow go. Popular handhelds! Anyhoo, once I placed my order, it appeared that I required a translator. Not too sure how one cannot comprehend a turkey sub (wheat/grain roll; with extra onion, spinach, swiss cheese, tomato, and oil and vinegar). Everything I wanted was on their board. Sub made as ordered though. Best full sub so far for the price! 9 bucks and change. A simple sub does rival other places. So, throwing in this little observation. Not sure what the problem is. Too many people strolling around the store with masks on. WTF? Be free people, stop this I'm scared, lib-like nonsense already! Highlight was the friendly elderly lady at the check stand! Superb attitude, and she wanted my holiday cookies. I told her no because those are part of my snack resources this week! LOL! I don't review stores, but I need to come back early in the day to check out their grocery selections. read more

I have upcoming event coming next week. Ordered chicken over the phone for future purchase and pickup. I went to store today to pay for the chicken in advance so whomever can pick it up on my behalf. Kelsey happened to be having a general conversation with Carol. I explained that I am buying the chicken prior to the event and the honoree is with me and please be secretive about this purchase. Kelsey walked me over to catering section and searched for my name and order. Found my name and she explained that Carol is the right person to help me. Quickly she found my order and completed the sale. I just want to acknowledge that although Kesley did not work on the deli, catering section she helped me anyway. She could have ignored or very snobby replied that's not my area like when asked at OTHER retail businesses. But she made sure that I was directed to right person to finalize my order. About 4 days ago, I asked the Manager if he had the big black and white cookies in Bakery. He came out with them and I purchased 6 of them. They were in the freezer. Yesterday, I was in the store again. I asked for those cookies and the worker said that they only have the tiny black and white cookies and never have the big ones. I asked her to look in the freezer. She came back really fast and said to me there wasn't anything and that they don't ever have those cookies. I asked for the Manager and was told he left and no one was there. I walked out of the store very disappointed. By the way, every single Publux in Florida has these cookies. read more

I was delighted to see that some of the employees from Martin's, the supermarket that came before this, are now working here. This store beats the competition on price--cheapest King Arthur's brand flour in town, if you want an example--but also service. Indeed, it was the enthusiastic recommendation of a friend that brought me out of my usual Lion Food/Trader Joe's orbit and out here. A kindly elder employee saw me go for a cart and offered to wipe down the handle, citing the coming of flu season. I thought that was a welcoming gesture and immediately wondered how many cart handles he'd wiped down that evening. The manager was on hand, greeting patrons, and other workers helped me find what I needed in this cavernous store. In my experience, that level of service isn't merely the glow of a new opening--it's solid management. One additional lagniappe was the free coin counter near the restrooms. read more

Your Deli department sucks, try to order some food and employee refused to cook or place the order for me. Won't even take my name, told me that they will be ready in 40 to 60 minutes. Try calling the deli and was transferred to catering. Catering transferred me back to deli and of course no body will pick up the phone. I know good help it's hard to come by, But I never had such a bad experience with Publix except this one. You should see how they do it in Florida! read more

We were visitors to Williamsburg and stopped in here to pick up some breakfast sundries, some snacks and of course some spirits. The store was clean and well stocked. They even had somebody baking and providing pizza samples. Our experience here was great. Everyone was really friendly and willing to help us out. read more

I'm so glad to finally have a Publix less than an hour away! Prices can be a little high, akin to a Harris Teeter, but the quality of products are excellent. Oh and of course, $8 for a whole sandwich at the sub shop (Boars Head meat!) and only another buck for a bag of Dirty chips and a drink. And the service is friendly as can be. When I was in the medical section, I even had a pharmacist walk up to me and quickly help me find what I was looking for. How can you beat that? read more

Publix is committing fraud. Many, many times I have gone to buy apples. Almost every time, the price listed is lower than the price charged at the register. I tell them and they say they'll fix it. A few times - maybe it's a mistake - but it's repeated over and over. I doubt the commonwealth attorney will care (it's usually about 50 cents a pound or so), so all I can do is complain here. read more

Publix is ALWAYS a pleasure to work with, but today they went above and beyond what they normally do. My husband and I ordered a sub platter from the Apron catering department. Jo made sure we had everything we needed, from beverages to plasticware. She even walked our rather sizable order over to my office (I work across the parking lot) so I didn't have to make several trips. I am a huge Publix fan. When we go to Florida one of our stops is Publix to get a sub. However I live in Virginia and drove an hour to The Williamsburg Va location. First off it is a beautiful store. It has a space to eat indoors, The atmosphere is really nice. But they spent all their money on The exterior of the place and forgot about the employees. The lady who made my subs had no idea what she was doing. I have no idea how you mess up a sub but she did. I truly believe she did not give me boars head meat or cheese. Also she was not friendly at all. She pride herself or not using manners and looking like she would rather be anywhere but there. Even the bakery did not seem to have the quality Bake good like other public stores has. Come on Publix Williamsburg, get yourself together. read more

It's been more than a year since I shopped at this Publix because there were so many problems. Today I purchased several items including a plastic clamshell of honey dew chunks. By the time I got home, the clamshell had split open and there were honey dew pieces all over everything in the bag. This really is the worst Publix ever. And no, the bag was simply lifted out of the cart, into my car, and into my home. It didn't fall, get hit, or... And of course, Publix could care less. read more

I was looking forward to an additional market coming to our town. One place I could find a good deli along with everyday items. To me, this new store falls short on all counts but their sub sandwiches! A great product at fantastic prices. This is why the wait is always long. For my husband and I, we shop at the following: the somewhat new Harris Teeter on Centerville (everyday items, produce, bakery & Deli); Fresh Market has excellent meats & fish along with specialty items; Trader Joe's (many specialty items with great personnel). These are my go to stores for most of our needs. Maybe because it is new but I find shopping at Publix very difficult. Not relaxing ... in fact frustrating. It is difficult to find things. That's often the case with a new store but this adds to my frustration. Too much work! Be careful to check your selection of deli products when you are handed your item. I ordered sliced chicken on special - $8.99 lb. My total was $10.89 for a different cut of chicken. These things happen but trying to get to know all THIS store's food choices is way above my ability. Yes. I admit it. On my first visit a woman walked me out to my car pushing my basket. She explained that their prices may appear higher but by going on line and creating your own personal account would help you find good bargains. I tried it. OMG a mess. I did manage to put specials on my account that were connected to my register when I checked out using my phone number and received the discounts. This takes way too long for a few pennies I saved. I recently I tried their meals to go. You select items from the case by color code. Wow, in the end I realized I didn't understanding the coding. I feel sorry for the one person working the ready made food meals. To give it a try I ordered what I thought would be a dinner special at $6.99 and wound up with a $10+ meal. I got my colors mixed up!?? I was very frustrated and put it in the cold selection case and left. If you want good baked goods I choose Harris Teeter fresh baked loaves of bread. Fresh Market for specialty baked goods. Love their brioche rolls. Even Fresh Fare has a nice bakery that I think is superior to Publix. Try the roasted chicken salad at Fresh Market - divine - along with many other selections in their pre-prepared case. Go early. They sell out many selections by late afternoon. Their thin sliced cut bagels that are great for breakfast. I discovered these recently. Their English muffins are good too. My husband likes both of these. Their produce can be a little expensive but worth the price on many things. Often there are specials on meets and fish. Their meat counter people are helpful and know their product. I guess I have the time to spend on shopping at all these different markets. I absolutely love that we have so many good choices close to home. I make my lists for each store for our meals. Maybe Harris Teeter for household items, deli, bread and produce. Fresh Market for meats and fish (love their trout) along with all the specialty items - always something new to try. They are superior in this way I find. Publix won't be on my weekly list. Too much trouble for this old shopper. read more
