I'm in North Chattanooga, TN where my choices for a grocery store is a small Food City, Walmart or Publix. Whole Foods (a small store) is also nearby but I can only afford a few items from them. Publix has worked hard to get my business with several new customer coupons, (that automatically took off the discount via inputting my phone #) At the N. Tried to get fried chicken meal of dark meat. They only had a drum in the warmer and the deli person stayed that there were no other dark meat options without looking in the back to see if there were more. I informed the deli manager of this and he said that he will talk to the person. However, he did not offer to get the meal or any other compensation for the terrible service. I would N OT recommend this Publix for anything as they do not know customer service or customer satisfaction. read more

Though their prices are higher than the competitors, Publix has the freshest meats, seafood, and produce. They have a healthier food selection on their shelves and also have the best tasting and freshest bakery food items. I love the fact that their pastries and breads are baked fresh everyday. Customer service from every employee (including stock personnel, cashier, baker/cook, management, etc.) is outstanding. The store is always immaculate, clean, and well organized. Parking lot is free of trash, and the grocery carts aren't raggedy or run down. ( Nothing worse than hauling grocery in a filthy buggy that squeaks loudly or the wheels get stuck, won't move, or move in the opposite direction of where you're navigating.) Again, though Publix's prices are slightly higher than its competitors, the quality of its service and product is well worth the value! F.Y.I: Also, if you are a first responder or a hospital staff, Publix is returning the favour by  reserving 8 - 9 p.m. on Thursdays and 7 - 8 a.m. on Fridays to give these valuable members of our community a little extra time to shop for themselves and their families. read more

Can I simply say, I LOVE Publix? Lol The people here are so helpful and keep the store clean as well as well stocked! I find great Buy 1 Get 1 deals on a lot of the products I use all the time, no matter when I come into the store. That in itself is a huge money saver. Sometimes I find freebies like last Friday night, shopping for groceries and receiving free meatloaf from the meat counter. It was a pre-made meal. Best deals to be found in our area, especially now that BiLo is gone. B1G1 is where it's at! The produce quality is reliable- I have been a regular customer for years. The selection is typical for the area so I don't fault them for the lack of variety. Their store brand goods are decent quality too. Ponzu sauce to red current jelly, they have the basics I need. Customer service is muy excellente. If they are sold out of a product, they try to make it right by the customer. Help taking groceries to the car, they are there, friendly and kind. read more

Being an Italian, from New York, I have high standards when it comes to Baked Goods, Cold cuts and bagels. When I first moved here 8 years ago I was mortified with the selection from the grocery stores. Not one bagel shop in town AND Italian bread was this soft mushy stuff. Publix has been a god send! My review will be by department: Cold Cuts- Board Head brand, Yeah! When I first moved here and asked another store to slice it thin, I was mortified when I got home and had a big pile of shredded meat, apparantly that's shaved. I didn't ask for that, I wanted thin. Publix will slice it so thin that you can see through it and it won't fall apart. Now that's how you do it! Their selection is amazing and for all you Italian out there they got all the good stuff! Soppresata and proscuitto...Plus they have Marscarpone so I can make Tiramisu till the cows come home and the price is 50% less the other stores! same brand. The deli department is cheerful and friendly. They don't scowl when you order more than 2 types of meat... Meat Department: Amazing cuts of meat and you can always find a good quality steak on sale. Go to the meat counter and they will cut it fresh for you and wrap for the freezer at NO CHARGE!!! Fish Department: Being from New York , I miss my little neck clams and fish markets. No more, Publix has amazing, fresh fish daily! And now for the most amazing part of this Publix........drum roll please!!! THE BAKERY... Bagels??- Fresh, crispy so so good....I order a dozen with everything whenever I can...as a matter of fact, I'm picking up a dozen today! Bread?? Ciabatta, crusty outside, so nice inside...mmmhmm Pastries?? Where is the south can you get a cannoli, mini cheesecakes (Just like Grandma used to make)..and other assorted pastries.... Cookies?? Here's my weakness, they have Black and white cookies, just like New York...nice cake like cookie w/ black and white frosting... Donuts??-- Try the Bavarian Cream. Nice well made eclair with real custard filling. No filled with whip cream...(although they do have those for the ones that like that) Jelly donuts.. Last, but not least, They have all the brands I'm familiar with from back home....everyone is friendly and go out of their way.....I left out some of the departments, but they all rock! Born and raised in Winter Haven, FL (site of the first Publix store), I am probably a bit biased toward the chain. Having said that, I have never been in a cleaner, nicer (overall more pleasant) grocery store. (Obviously, each store differs due to age and location). Their deli ROCKS!!! I grew-up eating their sandwiches and occasional hot meals to-go. However, I had my first sub the other night. Not only was it better than the other sub shops (Subway, Firehouse, Quiznos, etc.), it was cheaper (just under $6.00 for a 6-in, chips and drink). The deli also has a slew of made-to-order cakes (pick one from a catalog). While they don't compare to custom cake shops, they are much more economical (and quite tasty). Now for their chocolate chip cookies. (Note this has its own paragraph). WOW! I am a bit of a chocolate chip connoisseur. While the Great American Cookie Company has the Double Fudge, their chocolate chip cookies are VERY sweet (almost too sweet). Subway and Otis Spunkmeyer chocolate chips come in a close second, but Publix wins. And you can buy 2 dozen for the price of 1/2 dozen from the aforementioned competitors! Other reviewers have mentioned high prices. While this cannot be denied for some items, they beat the competition on other items. (For instance, their in-house bread is cheaper than bread at Wal-Mart). And they seem to always have some great sales (two for one and so forth). read more

Something that Chattanooga has apparently lacked for years is a good quality grocery store. Your choices were pretty much limited to old, stale, dirty chain grocery stores, or Wal-Mart. I moved here from Atlanta, where i was used to the large clean, well-lit aisles grocery stores. So, I was particularly pleased when I learned that Publix had opened up a store in the Chattanooga area. Publix is where I used to shop all the time when I lived in Atlanta. I visited this Publix and I was not disappointed. True to their image, they still have those ultra-clean, well-lit aisles. The shelves are neatly organized by employees who care about what they are doing. The selection is great and all the shelves are fully-stocked. The bakery always has plenty of tasty goods ranging from birthday cakes to cookies and pies and more. I won't go anywhere other than a Publix for a birthday cake. The meat and seafood departments are also full of fresh, delicious looking (and tasting) items. If you're in a hurry, Publix also has a deli, where you can get the best sub sandwiches. If you're in the mood for something hot, they also usually have some type of chicken (tenders, grilled, etc) hot and ready, waiting for you to take home. The cashiers are always friendly, and Publix employees are not supposed to accept a tip if they take your groceries out to your car for you. That's just a common courtesy that they extend to all their customers. If it's raining, I've also seen them walk customers out to their cars with umbrellas. I will go out of my way to shop at Publix... I hope that they build more locations around Chattanooga soon. read more

The perfect example of what a grocery store should be, and a welcome alternative to over-priced Bi-Lo and God-forsaken Wal-Mart...and we won't even mention the "Food" Lion. (Also known as the sh**ty kitty). The aisles are long and wide, the store well lit and well organized. The produce is of a very high quality, I suspect that someone may well inspect it by hand before it is placed on the shelves - though this is only a guess. The store has a very wide selection of pretty much anything one could want, including specialty items. If they don't have something, they'll order it just for you - just speak to the customer service desk. What sets this store apart is the level of customer service. If you look remotely confused, expect a friendly green-vested employee to politely ask what they can help you find - then instead of just pointing you in the right direction, they'll lead you to it and likely place it in your hand. The carry out service is free, and they're almost insistent about helping you to your car. Also: huge pet peeve with other stores - you'll find that you're rarely wait more than a couple of minutes to check out. Even on Wednesday (in my experience, by far the busiest day), they have ample check lanes available. No loyalty cards here, the "deals" are for everyone they say. Is this the cheapest store in town? Not a chance - but one wouldn't buy a Kia expecting the features and quality of a Mercedes. read more

I Like Publix overall: good meat & produce sections. They have good BOGO's too. But one thing I find extremely irritating is each store has discretion on what products to stock, or so I've been told by store employees. You'd figure the inventory should at least be the same in a metropolitan area, but no. I can get this item at the East Brainerd store only. Having moved here from Chicago area, I was looking for a neighborhood grocery store! I found this Publix to exceed my expectations. The supplies aren't what I am use to and the prices are about the same. The customer service is excellent. I had a older gentleman that really was friendly and when he noticed my out of state plates, I told him that we had moved and he welcomed me to the area and even encouraged me to make this PUBLIX our store. Just moved down here from a place that didn't have publix and I'm stoked! Publix is the best supermarket with the best customer service.

This is always my first pick to go grocery shopping. The produce is always the freshest, the deli has the best selections and the meat department always has great deals and a wide range of different portions. I think certain canned goods and those type of groceries are a little overpriced but for the most part I can find deals on the things i buy the most. I also enjoy the amount of gluten free items they sell and that they list them noticeably as such. read more

It would seem as of lately half of the deli staff, including and especially the deli manager at the Publix at Hurricane Creek, in Chattanooga, TN needs to be replaced or retrained. I love Publix as a Supermarket. But on three separate occasions within one weeks time I've had deli employees using improper and unsanitary procedures while slicing and handling my deli order. I watched a deli employee attempt to slice my turkey on an obviously filthy blade that probably hadn't been cleaned all day. She quickly realized that it needed cleaning and stop cutting in an attempt to clean off the cutter. Using the same gloves, she got some sanitary wipes and poorly wiped off the blade. Then decided that using another slicer would be better (the one they've designated for cutting pork on, which I do not eat). She proceeded to slice my turkey wearing the same gloves she was previously cleaning with, handling each individual slice because she never put down a plastic sheet to lay the meat on. She nearly weighed the meat on the scale without the plastic as well until realizing at the last minute "hey I forgot the plastic". On my last visit the deli manager himself had on dirty gloves that he did not even change between customers before he took my order and I was 3rd in line. I noticed that in the past deli employees always change their gloves between orders. Not this manager. He then proceeded to fill my order starting out with what appeared to be the last bit of the turkey I needed. Instead of opening a new batch to slice from, which they normally do when the product gets that low, he proceed to slice me virtual scraps of turkey instead of slices. Some of which were no larger than my thumb (I have pics, I wish I could upload for you to see). He cut it down to the very end including the skin, put it all on the scale, then open a new batch to complete the weight. When I got it home and opened the bag to see what was inside I was quite disappointed. Don't shop at this Publix deli. They obviously don't care about how they fill a customers order. Very unsanitary sometimes. read more

Let me just tell you every single time I have been to this Publix everyone has been so incredibly sweet and helpful. I've done my groceries here many times and every time they help me if I need anything no matter how stupid it is and recently I am moving and I needed boxes I called to see if I could grab some from the back thinking it would be just one or two boxes The customer service lady and the produce guy came to the front and brought me almost all the boxes they had and search for more and said if I needed any more to call and let them know it was amazing I can't express how great this Publix is in their employees thank you so much!! read more

Everything about Publix is amazing...except the Deli. Having to go to the deli at Publix is like having to do community service, have an appendix removed and walk across fire...all rolled into one. All of that to say, it is the most unfriendly experience in the entire store. The deli associates are apathetic and clearly have no desire to uphold the Publix slogan "Where Shopping Is A Pleasure" - because no one smiles, attempts to help with your questions, or make sure your needs are met. Publix fried chicken is one of the things the supermarket chain is famous for and being able to purchase it at this location is about as undependable as it comes. I literally hate knowing I have to interact with the deli and will go out of my way to ensure that whatever I need can be located elsewhere in the store. Publix is such a great store and all of the other employees go above and beyond to treat the customers with such outstanding customer service. It's so puzzling to try and understand why the deli has never achieved the same performance level as the rest of the store. read more
