I like The Fresh Market. It's very clean, and it just has a relaxing vibe. They have a nice selection, and sometimes they have some really good deals. The chicken salad they make in-house is probably the best I've had, and they usually have a promo that includes 4 free croissants if you buy a little tub of chicken salad. The staff is generally friendly, and the little coffee bar is nice. If I'm in the area, sometimes I just stop by for a cup of coffee. read more

This place is wonderful and happily reminiscent of a Sprouts Farmers Market. They offer a variety of specialty and organic groceries. I love their deli, bakery, tea, and spices sections, to name just a few. They carry unique brands that you won't find in conventional grocery stores in this area. One item in particular I was extremely happy to find was Rufus Teague's Steak Rub. I've only been able to order it online until now! Prices are on the higher side but to be expected at a specialty market. This place is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for something unique and quality. The produce has been good, and their bulk barrel section of various snacks, coffees, and sweet treats is just as wonderful. Overall, it was an excellent shopping experience with a thoughtful and cozy atmosphere with friendly service and a clean store with great offerings. I had the strangest interaction with a store manager this evening that I have ever had in my life. First of all I went to the seafood department and asked for four Chilean sea bass cakes and four lump crab cakes for my dinner this evening with my kids. The worker next to the one waiting on me said " there are crab cakes already packaged behind you in a case" and I responded "those are frozen" and he responded "these used to be too." Now my 21 yr old son told him to mind his business because we wanted them all to be at the same temperature and he wasn't who was waiting on us anyway. We carry on shopping buying oysters and creme brûlée and fruit tarts and asparagus and risotto and a ton of other things. Suddenly at the end the store manager comes up to us and says another customer complained to him that we were abusing his seafood guy and he wouldn't tolerate that. I told him what happened and he argued with me. I then asked if I had to leave the store without my hundreds of dollars of purchases and he said no so I said "well I am going to go check out then." He came back to my son again while we were in line to argue more about the situation. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? Without us you don't have a job sir. read more

At Fresh Market, there are standout items you usually can't get anywhere else that match their freshness. I come here mainly for a few items. One being sushi, but again, I'm going to quantify that and say sometimes I've gotten not-so-fresh sushi at FM and fresher quality sushi at Publix. As with all fresh-made take away foods, it depends on the time you shop. It's generally a good indication the sushi is going to be fresh if you see the sushi-guy there making it at either grocery store. One item in particular I do love that you won't find elsewhere is the Fresh Market brand Limoncello Gelato. There are a few other flavors, but the Limoncello is my favorite. Also a fangirl favorite of mine is Jenni's ice creams. An assortment of these ice creams is found at FM, and they're priced well below what Whole Foods prices them out at. Fresh Market has lovely and healthy flowers, the produce couldn't get any fresher unless you picked it off the vine or tree, and the store is pleasantly small, which makes for an easy shopping visit. It's always lovely to walk in to this store for a number of reasons: - It's simply breathtakingly beautiful - clean - has a small, intimate setting - and is uniquely different. Delicious cookies and pastries with an unbelievable selection. I love this store. From the moment you walk in and see the beautiful flowers both potted and fresh cut which are reasonably priced. The produce department is so inviting and fresh. Meat department staffed with knowledgeable people and the deli is incredible. It's a little pricey but truly a pleasure to shop. This market has great deals on cooked, prepared, organic meals my family picks up sometimes, as well as a variety of grains, coffees, cheeses, and desserts I enjoy choosing from time to time when I want something special. My brother enjoys their worldly selection when he's visiting. It's worth the extra 10-15 minute drive. My best galentine picked up a sweet, delicious dessert for me from here yesterday - a Tuxedo Truffle Napoleon. First, as a senior, I must say that Fresh Market was one of the first grocery stores to recognize the seriousness of the CoVid-19 virus and require both employees and shoppers to wear masks. In fact, they were recently recognized by Consumer Reports for their efforts. However, I have been a fan for years. I am single and while some of their items are pricey, it is much cheaper to buy for one of something and get exactly what I need as opposed to throwing out food I didn't use because it spoiled. This is the place to go when you need a single portion of fruit or vegetable, a quality steak, just 2 pieces of bacon or some fraction of ground meat. I'm not telling you to give up your COSTCO membership ... it's still the place for gas and toilet paper! read more

I ordered a full Thanksgiving meal and can say we were underwhelmed. This is disappointing since several people recommended this meal. I assumed a cooked turkey meant I would take it home and remove the meat and be done. Instead this was a cooked turkey in a bag that I had to cook. The instructions did not match those on the bag but I followed the printed instructions and it was overcooked and did not have much flavor to it at all. Both potato dishes were very bland and that was after adding a topping to the sweet potatoes. The dressing was very soupy and once cooked was still not dry enough. The gravy was fine and the cranberry sauce was really good. The meal was packaged in a very nice portable cooker. I would prefer the money spent on that go to aluminum containers for the food as most items came in plastic which had to then be transferred to a baking dish then a serving dish. The meal was expensive and time consuming and except for the cranberry sauce I would not order this again. read more

The Fresh Market has always offered friendly and helpful customer service, but today was so above and beyond that I wish I could give a six- star rating. On this very busy grocery shopping day of Thanksgiving Eve, I stopped in only to pick up one of the delicious FM meal kits that my husband and I love. There were no meal kits in their usual spot so I asked an associate who was fulfilling Thanksgiving pick up orders nearby where I might find the meal kits. He apologized and said they had been so busy that they had not put together any meal kits. I was disappointed, but certainly understood. If you need curbside pickup, this location will disappoint. Waited 25 minutes before being told that no one was available and had to pick up items in store. Another wait and when employee arrived, she asked if she could carry items to car. I stated no as I had to go into store since no one was available. Oh how I enjoy The Fresh Market! It's one of the most wonderful experiences to be on your lunch break and walk into this grocery store. It's so much more than that! I walk in and smell coffee, flowers and baked goods. Every where I go there are beautifully stocked tables full of fruits and vegetables. I go there as often as I can for their huge apples! One is plenty for a filling snack. They have a deli counter with wonderful sandwiches and sushi across from the butcher counter. Fresh meats are aplenty and displayed in a way that makes you want to fire up the grill! Browsing through the bakery area I didn't see any vegan options which is why I can't give them five stars. They have vegan options in other areas, but not in the bakery. I asked. That particular day I wanted to take my Daughter a special baked treat. I had to go elsewhere for it. That's ok though. I stopped by this location of Fresh Market on New Years Eve when I was doing some last minute shopping for our NYE dinner. I am a fan of Fresh Market: great produce, a much better meat/fish selection than your Kroger/Publix stores, good wine selection, and lots of international and foodie ingredients. I'm a foodie who loves to cook. It isn't unheard of for me to spend an entire day in the kitchen (pies, pelmeni, matzo ball soup - these things take time), and while I've never found my all-purpose store, Fresh Market is definitely in my rotation of stores. I currently live in Nashville, which has a location, and I often visit my mom and stepdad in Chattanooga. I was excited to learn Chattanooga has a Fresh Market. When I visited this location a few weeks ago, I saw that it is much the same as other Fresh Market locations I have visited: definitely small, but with excellent products. Fresh Market is definitely a more expensive option for grocery shopping. If you're shopping for products that you can get at Kroger/Publix or other stores, Fresh Market probably isn't where you should head. But if you're cooking a fancy dinner and need a cut of meat that isn't available at your everyday store or fancy cheeses for a cheese plate or if you're cooking something that requires some special ingredients (herbs, spices, gluten-free or allergen-free products, some international products), Fresh Market is a good stop. It's small, so it probably won't replace all other stores in your rotation. But it's a good to have in your rotation for when you need something a little special. This Fresh Market location - like others - makes my foodie heart happy. read more

From the people who answer the phone, and hang up on you-twice, to the order pick up guy that points to his watch and says "we waited 40 minutes for you to get here" to get your pick up order when you live 40 minutes away and make the drive willingly to visit this store. I wanted a roasted chicken on sale today. An employee was busy emptying ice into a sink and I waited. I heard someone clearing his throat very loudly. At first I ignored it and was deciding which chicken I wanted. Then I heard this throat clearing again, very loudly. The man who was emptying ice was looking at me. Variety and premium cuts abound and the shops manager has always been excited and willing to order "odd-ball" cuts of meat that they don't normally carry (ie - duck, lamb, etc....). I do not usually shop in the Chattanooga Fresh Market. It was not laid out the same way the stores I am familiar with are laid out. I enjoyed looking at the different aisles. There were lots of Christmas goodies. The floral section had beautiful orchids. Big orchids!! The fresh hydrangeas were huge. The Little Big Meals were in the middle of the store. read more

Prices are generally high without the good deals found at Publix. I do like to get the high quality meat when I can afford it. When I am really in a time crunch, I will get the meal deals and bite my teeth at the price. Example: last time included fresh fruit salad (melons, kiwi, berries, grapes), brioche buns, good beef, Alexia potatoes, and fancy cheese. The food is really delicious. The selection of breads is always top notch! The personnel are friendly, and the store always has a nice ambiance. Usually, they have the same products I can find elsewhere in my travels so I don't find myself making a special trip to the store. The perk of having my receipt emailed to me automatically makes me smile though. read more

I now have the duty to tear them up with this review in the same way they tore mine and my wife's stomachs up. We purchased two different meals from their deli...my wife a sandwich and me a salad. Fresh Market, which has come from the south I think - to recently infiltrate the Midwest, is a place I just don;t understand. I walk in and always think Treasure Island (grocery store in the Midwest). Like Treasure Island I think this type of grocery store is a bit schizophrenic. Over here we have barrels of gummi bears in 42 colors! Over here we have fine cheeses! ...but we really don't have any real food...or at least not any things you, yourself, could cook or bake into real food. This store seems to be caught between Faux European market, faux trader joes (it's the barrels), and dark designer flower shop. If you need interesting frozen dinners to pop in the microwave you can find them here. If you want mediocre sushi to go from the fridge case and a sushi chef to tell you not to take extra soy sauce (?) you can find that here too. If I had to come to this town again I would try GreenLife for a possible salad bar, or just hit a regular grocery store that doesn't have mood lighting in every section as Fresh Market does. read more

My experience is way different than that of the previous reviewer and maybe it's because our reviews are three years apart. I find lots of food to cook at Fresh Market, including high quality meats and even some unusual items for this area like chimichurri steaks. Sure, there are barrels of candies and snacks. There are also barrels of bulk coffee beans in flavored and regular/decaf varieties. My favorite is chocolate orange coffee. The almond amaretto is nice, too. I don't think you'll find a better selection of cheeses in Chattanooga than here. They also carry baking ingredients and spices in bulk. You can even find weird sodas and teas. They also have a decent selection of the kinds of plants and flowers you place on a dinner table or give as a gift. I refreshing difference from regular grocery stores. read more

I really like the fresh market I first visited back home. Everything always looks so fresh and inviting. This one is ok and I've had decent experiences here except the last time. I went for a bakery item and there were none available. So I asked about it and was told "he hasn't made any yet." So, ok. Nothing else. The exact item I wanted was in the display case but no offer to prepare me a box and no indication of when "he" would actually make the item I was looking for was given. That was just weird and not helpful at all. Otherwise, their veggies and fruits are always fresh looking and I always end up spending more money here than I should. LOL. read more

Stopped by here on a fundraising trip for our adoption and needed some supplies for the get together. Must say the quality was amazing the variety was amazing, and the cost was amazing. I give it 3 stars because of the cost. I appreciate quality to a point but it is hard to justify the cost for product when I can find fresh product at grocery stores for 3/4 the price. I will give it 5 stars for quality of fresh meats though. Sashimi grade tuna is a hard find, and having their meat and seafood department with the quality it had is Actualy a unique find. read more
