This is one of the most friendliest Publix that I've been to! The area is very busy although all of the staff that work here seem to always be very friendly and willing to help anytime questions are asked. They stay pretty busy which I can appreciate so even when the lines are long I don't mind having patience so you should too! They have several checkout lines where you can use to check out yourself, but I prefer to go to the cashier. You're also able to get Lottery here which I think is pretty cool. read more

The cashiers are sometimes a little bit too intensive. I don't have any preference on the plastic bags. They seem to have an issue with that. So intensive that I have been scream at . Letting me know how many years they have worked at Publix. I never said anything about the plastic bags to start with. I go at the end of the day to buy my groceries and go home in peace. Five months ago this manager or assistant bump into my back and never apologized. The other managers are very helpful and nice. I haven't seen that guy anymore. The older ladies cashiers should take it a little bit easier on the customers. The younger cashiers and baggers seems to be more pleasant. It took me a long time to say what happened. More like 3.5 stars. Good Publix but not my favorite. The location is convenient for commuters that often travel through the Sheldon/Memorial/W Hillsborough intersection. There are multiple entry and exit points but the parking lot is too small and always feels congested. The best features are the deli and sushi counter. This Publix always serves fresh deli meats, freshly cooked chicken out the oven, and the sushi chef tends to be present. I never have to wonder how long the prepared food has been sitting out because the flavorful first bites are telling. The rest of the store feels a bit outdated to me. Compared to newer or quieter Publix stores, this one seems older and physically displays wear and tear. The employees and standard of cleanliness are what makes this Publix absolutely wonderful. Everyone has been friendly and helpful every time I have needed assistance. The clerks are always smiling and happy which is a Very welcome change in today's status. This is the main reason why I return to this store often. The Publix BOGOs certainly help in the current tragic economy and make "shopping a pleasure". The minus of one star is for the general overpricing of common essentials. I sadly buy my essentials at Walmart, attributed to prices regularly fixed 20-40% less than Publix. It would be great if Publix would lower their costs and set profits on the masses rather than the few. I just don't understand what type of quality Publix wants to withhold. Anything marketed as organic or Publix brand for produce just don't buy. Everything's on the verge of expiring or mushy or really low quality. I've tried their salad, mixes their grapes amongst many other fruits, and I swear it is the most disappointing thing I've ever had. I come from the north east, and Stop & Shop had their own brand produce and salad mixes, which were very high-quality and fresh but nothing here is fresh. I don't like to sit here and post reviews about anything that's mediocre unless it's consistent. They carry "exotic" veggies like broccolini for $8 for two small heads, which is absolutely ridonculous & inflated. The other day I got two 5 oz. presliced shiitakes for $5.99. Yeah - not enthusiastic at all about how much I have to pay and how they are not priced competitively...wish Aldi carried these veggies at market prices. I would stop at an Asian grocer except there isn't one as close on the drive home. The two stars is for the meat department specialist that personally walked me to the frozen aisle for beef bones to make pho, which I appreciate and love attentive service like that. He saved this review from a one to a two. Also, love the fact they carry local beer from Cigar City (I can get down with that)! The lady at the customer desk on 11/6, made me feel like I was trying to commit fraud when I asked a favor to able to pay for 2 bags of Cheetos with manually inputting my SNAP number and Pin. Even after I told that over the weekend, I was able get make a snap purchase without the actual physical card I unfortunately lost with one of the manager/supervision, she refused. I even offered to show my identification to this particular customer service lady; since I was able to that with the manager at the Westgate Shopping/Anderson Rd Publix store; who was more than willing to to verify my name and driver's license info to validate that I am indeed the real SNAP recipient of the specified EBT Account in question. read more

One of the reasons I love where I live is my neighborhood Publix! Not only is this location relatively big, but they're always well-stocked with the products I use on a regular basis and more often than not, I can rely on them to have it such as my vegan frozen products, Lenny and Larry's cookies, as well as a varied assortment of protein bars as well as other vitamins and supplements. This way i do all my shopping here and im not inconvenienced by making mulitple stops to multiple places. They also have a wonderful bakery thats always well stocked to with my favorite baked goods. In my opinion Publix sets the gold standard of what a bakery should be: they either have to be as good or better than here to be worh my time (I'm a food snob, I confess). My notable favorites are their muffins! Best carrot and corn muffins around and when i get the chance, i get buy them bogo. They freeze rather well if you want to save them for later. Publix also have THE BEST carrot cake and is the only carrot cake I eat now after being kinda disappointed with others in the past. The staff there is very nice. Many of them have known me for years and they are very good at knowing when I need help to my car. They deserve alot of Kudos for gracefully braving the pandemic and maintaining their standard of excellence. read more

This Publix is near my home and is the only Publix that's reasonably convenient. While it's one of the smaller stores in the area, it's consistently clean, and there's just enough room with the aisle spacing that you don't feel crammed in. I'm usually able to get through the checkout line reasonably fast, and they typically have the items I'm looking for. The reason I give this location three stars is because often times the deli runs out of hot food. My wife and I stopped by on a recent Sunday afternoon around 1:30 PM and there were no hot rotisserie chickens or fried chicken. Come on Publix! That's the prime time post-church crowd rush! You should be on top of that. If that's not enough, it's also the "let's get ready to watch football" rush! Please be better prepared! The other reason I give this location three stars is that it's incredibly hard to get in and out of the parking lot. The lot has an odd shape to it, and the traffic near the intersection of Hillsborough and Memorial make it dangerous to leave. I wish that Publix could acquire some of the land around that location, tear everything down, and rebuild it with parking/entryway/exits that made more sense. read more

Publix... where shopping is a pleasure! For being at the extremely busy intersection of Hillsborough and Memorial Hwy, this Publix is smaller than I would have anticipated. This is also one of those instances in which I wish I could give 3.5 stars. The parking situation here is pretty atrocious. There are folks trying to navigate off of the 3 turning lanes from Memorial, coming off of Hillsborough, or trying to exit at the light on Lagoon. There are random angles and stops in the parking lot which make it pretty treacherous. Like all Publix, the workers are friendly, efficient and very helpful. This particular location is staged differently from many of the others I have been too, and I was offered assistance several times. I guess my deer-in-the-headlights look could be seen from miles away and was a beacon to those friendly little helpers in the green vests. The deli department was fully stocked and all of the fruit and veggies looked fresh. Due to it's location, this Publix seemed pretty crowded for the time I went. That being said, all lanes were open and there was no wait, which meant I didn't have to stare at those ridiculous headlines before heading on my merry way (Seriously? Caitlyn is in love with a woman... who used to be man? Wait, doesn't the defeat the purpose of... ). read more

Publix has a great reputation and this store is definitely an exception. Out dated, crowded, small parking lot... the scale at the front of the store needed a sign saying that it is not for weighing luggage. The aisles are usually well stocked. It's still a Publix and the sales are always great. The employees are always very helpful and friendly. I like that there's a meat counter and you can get a good look at the cut of meat before you take it home. The location has potential to be very convenient if it were set up to handle the after work rush. The parking lot can be very difficult to get in and out of. There's always long lines after work, a few extra registers open would help during rush hour. The attached Publix Liquors is good in a pinch but prices are better at the bigger chain liquor stores. read more

I went to Publix Saturday morning with my 10 month old & my 4 year old. My 10 month old is teething and started screaming uncontrollably. I went to the front desk with my full cart & asked them to watch it so I could bring home the baby to my husband. They quickly took my cart reassured me they'd keep my stuff safe. I came back and my cart was not only kept safe in the dairy cooler but everything was rung up already for me. The store has been well kept every time that I've stopped in and the staff has always been helpful in aiding me if I needed help finding something. I really like that they have their healthier options in a separate location right up front by the registers. This makes my shopping fairly easy to do. They have a nice selection of vegetables and fruits. The quality of produce has been good from what I've selected. I do wish that they had some better options for their natural food bars, such as ProBar or something similar, but maybe those will be coming in the future. What can I say, all Publix are not created equal. This one is a step above the norm, but not the best. This Publix is located in the shopping center on the South -East corner of Sheldon, just before Gunn Hwy. It is a fair sized store and has most of the usual suspects, that most Publix has. I love that with almost all Publix, you can find everything in about the same location. For once, they had enough checkers & did not give me any hassles on my rain checks. She and Justin (another employee covering for the manager) failed to explain why other friends of mine managed to use the coupons combination in that store and I was not allowed to. Then When finally the manager Doug came, with condescending attitude explained that I could not use that. I have my normal 2-3 Publix locations that I go to when I need something. I happened to be right next to this one and went in to grab some food for dinner. This store is basically a square shape. It's not very big and felt a little tight compared to my normal locations. The produce area was nice and open, unlike the rest of the store. The store just felt small to me and the aisle categories were kind of random. The employees were nice and the store was clean, from what I saw. The parking lot was a nice size and the store definitely looks bigger on the outside than it does on the inside. The main perk about this location is that they have a Publix liquor store next door. I'll stick to my normal locations, but knowing this one isn't too far out of my way is good to have around. read more

This Publix is one of their newer locations and opened in the last few years. I can't really complain about service or food quality, for the most part is has always been good and I can normally find what ever I am looking for. The meat department here is not the greatest though, and I have had a couple of times, different meats that spoiled within days of being bought. My biggest complaint of this Publix is that the parking lot is awful. Its hard to navigate around and people drive like maniacs in an attempt to get a spot 10 feet closer to the door. This Publix is extremely busy and unless you go at off times, you will be waiting in lines to check out. read more

This is My Favorite Publix! I love that they have an in house butcher & fish market ready to cut a fresh slice of steak or get a bigger lobster tail if the ones in the case are not to your liking. The butcher & fish market staff have always been very pleasant to deal with and have even given me cooking tips on how to cook the lobster tails i ordered. They have great wine selections and even do demos here on how to cook quick dishes during certain times of the day. Their grocery baggers always are very quick and attentive & although I've never taken advantage of it, they've always offered to carry my bags to my car which is greatly appreciated. Most importantly the checkout lines are usually never more than 3 people deep which makes for easy & fast transactions! And they have a full publix liquor store right next door ... SCORE ! read more

This store is filled with the most helpful and personable associates. Here is one of plenty of examples: My wife mentioned to the young bagger that we recently relocated to the area. Instead of the typical "Oh yeah?" response, she was excited that we live in the Tampa Bay area, and gave tons of suggestions for restaurants, parks, beaches and points of interest in the area. She cared. And everyone we've met in the store has shared that feeling. Everyone. The store is organized, bright, clean and every aisle is full of product, and it all looks great. Publix is my preferred grocery store and this location at the corner of Hillsborough and Sheldon embodies the spirit of why. The customer service staff, cashiers, baggers, butchers and bakers are all top quality and deliver a level of customer service and friendliness which you just will not find at competitors. This is the Publix differentiator clearly. Selection at this location is good and I can generally find exactly what I need very quickly. The store is also very clean. Another thing I like about Publix is they always have a free cookie and ballon for kids. This helps when shopping with kids and trying to keep them happy at the same time. Happy kids = Happy parents shopping. The prices are actually decent although I am sure other stores may be a little cheaper. For me, I am willing to pay a little more for a better shopping experience. read more
