This place is fantastic! It feels like a trip back in time to when Tex-Mex was affordable and portions were generous. The value here is truly refreshing. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is spotlessly clean, making it extremely family-friendly. While the margarita is just average--not bad, but strong enough --the food more than makes up for it. The quesadillas are amazing at just $14 for eight pieces. Many places only offer four triangles at the same price or more, but not here. They're packed with cheese, and the steak and chicken are tender and juicy. We also tried the Dirty Donkey, a hefty beef burrito smothered in their delicious chili gravy, served with beans and rice, and a Crunchy taco for only $13. Plus, I had the two-taco combo plate, which included an enchilada (I chose cheese) and a tamale, and beans and rice all covered in chili gravy. I opted for a crunchy beef taco and a soft chicken taco. That was a great value, with a ton of food for around $14. I can't wait to return the next time I'm in the area!

I had a very average experience. The staff was super friendly but clearly super busy. They were as attentive as they could be with several huge tables to service at one time. Unfortunately, the place is currently under repairs because Mother Nature has been boxing with Livingston for the last 3 weeks. Personal issue: I do not like paying high prices for Mexican food. Barely 1 appetizer under $10. You are telling me that 2 flautas and rice is $15? My frugal meter just isn't a fan of eating Mexican food at sit-down restaurants. Tate wise, the complimentary chips needed salt. The complimentary salsa lacked flavor. The taco that came with my donkey plate was the most enjoyable thing I had. It tasted really fresh, but it was a mini taco. No bueno. The burrito was just average as well. How do I have so much space on my plate? All in all, I would not rush back here because the price to portion ratio is way off. I know big groups automatically have an 18% gratuity on their check... but I think my waiter was trying to be slick. He had the gratuity set at 20% and didn't give receipts once we paid. There is not anything that would make me rush back here.

Have not been disappointed and have been here several times. Their grilled chicken that is served with the burritos and tacos is simple breast meat chunks that is delicious. Highly recommend the Queso cheese sauce (one free at lunch) 11-4 it has peppers in it so it has a little kick but is amazingly delicious. The salsa is served warm and is also a great flavor. Happy hour from 11-7 makes for a great inexpensive lunch. The lunch prices can't be entered in their computer system after 4:00 so if you are coming after 3:30 make sure they ring you up on the lunch price just let them know to ring you up at the lunch rate. Their burrito Blanco comes with queso sauce on it and if you like solid white meat chicken rice and beans it's a great item to try!

I just ate the best chicken taco salad I've ever had in my life! I used queso and salsa as the "dressing" and omg! Delicious! The chicken was grilled to perfection and the greens were crisp and fresh. We are going back to Houston tomorrow, but I'm getting another salad before we leave! Our server was super fast and everything was perfect!

They have the best Mexican food in town without a doubt! Yummy fajitas, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, the bar area is huge and they have bands that play frequently also! They also have the BEST MARGARITAS on this planet! But make sure to only have ONE margarita because I PROMISE YOU WILL BE TWO SHEETS TO THE WIND!! So go grab you a margarita and a designated driver because you will definitely be feeling stuffed and just right on the buzz side lmao!

Visiting my family today and sister insisted on going out to dinner. Ended up here. Pulled up and we're worried because the lot was so full, but there was no wait. seems most of the folks were in the back listening to karaoke. We were waited on quickly, had some queso for an appetizer, sharing the street tacos and cheese enchiladas. Mom said they are the best enchiladas (especially the sauce) she has ever had. Tacos were good. Rice & beans were okay. Rita's were too strong for me, and not because of alcohol, just too sweet and not so great. But the atmosphere was nice and so was the staff. Would like to try the fajitas, as we saw some come out and they looked and smelled amazing! Seems like a popular place for a Friday night!

Margaritas and chips could use some improvement, however, if you're trying to have a quiet Mexican food lunch/dinner away from all the Livingston hustle and bustle, this is your place. Service is usually pretty standard and not disappointing, that is a plus. 3 stars because the margaritas are weak (to the point, the last few times here, we didn't order drinks) and the chips are too thick and too hard.

As I entered, the air was thick with the aroma of charred meat and fleeting dreams. The tacos, though small, held the weight of centuries, each bite a delicate balance between pleasure and existential dread. The servers moved with a kind of determined indifference, as though they too understood that we are all but dust in the winds of fate. They brought me my enchiladas without a word, for what could words do in the face of the inevitable? In conclusion, El Taquito reminds us that while the food nourishes our bodies, it leaves our souls untouched--yearning for meaning in a universe that provides none. I recommend the carnitas. Not even a little bit. Really nice people that explain specials, most ordered items, and everything in between. Was the taste of the food bad? No. Granted, I only ordered 20 tacos in three different flavors. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste of the diced pineapples on my one set of tacos. Did the weather affect your experience because this is a food truck? Not at all. They even have the weather aspect together. They provide nice shading while you order and wait for your food. What could warrant only giving them 4 stars? A variety of reasons. The first being that they have so many things to choose from, and I've only eaten one thing from the massive menu. When I order more, I can adjust my rating accordingly. Also, my frugal meter hates paying the prices I pay for Mexican food! That's a strictly "me" issue that has no bearing on this establishment. I feel as though Mexican food, generally speaking, should be way cheaper than priced now and days. That's because some ripoff Mexican fast food giant used to feed me 10 tacos for under $5! Once again, this place will be 5 stars for many people. I'm looking forward to trying many things they offer. They even mentioned "keto" on their menu. They seem to really have a flare for "birria," so I'm also looking forward to trying that. You can call in your order if you are in a rush. Stop by and try this place out. I'm certain you will enjoy them.

Right from the start, the atmosphere hit the perfect balance: lively and inviting but not overwhelming. Whether you're heading there for a casual dinner, drinks with friends, or a date night, it feels comfortable and relaxed without ever feeling generic. The décor and layout are thoughtful -- not flashy, but definitely memorable. The menu? Outstanding. Every dish I tried was clearly prepared with real skill, not just thrown together. The flavors were bold without being heavy, fresh without being confusing, and absolutely balanced. I started with an appetizer that was creative and flavorful, and each course that followed kept building on that good first impression. Portions were generous, too -- plenty of food without feeling like you're overstuffed. What really sold me was how every plate tasted intentional. You can tell the kitchen cares about the details -- the way flavors layered, the way textures played off each other, and even how each dish looked when it was served. That kind of consistency is rare, even at places that think they're fine dining. Service was equally impressive. Our server wasn't just friendly, they were attentive without hovering, knew the menu well, and offered recommendations that genuinely improved our meal. It's always nice when staff can talk about food like they actually enjoy it themselves -- it makes the whole experience feel a lot more personal. I left feeling completely satisfied -- not just because the food was great, but because the entire evening felt thoughtful from start to finish. If you want a place in Livingston that combines quality food, a great vibe, and service that actually elevates the experience, Blue Duck Kitchen & Bar is absolutely worth your time. Five stars well earned -- I'll definitely be returning.
