Then we realized it wasn't the greatest. So we came to visit the Sharmar Village and were so pleased with what we saw. It's been over a year now and my mother passed away recently. The staff, nurses and caretakers have been exceptional the entire time. They have gone above and beyond consistently for my parents. Now my father is alone and the entire staff has taken a personal interest in him to be sure he is happy and adjusting very well. They are extremely kind and they genuinely care. They are always professional and everything I've seen how they interact with other residents, and each other is always with respect and kindness. When I visit my father I stay here for at least 5 to 6 days at a time 24 hours a day. The staff is very welcoming to me and make sure I am as comfortable as everyone else. I have spent time speaking to many of the residents who all seem to be very nice people and are just wonderful. They all seem to take care of each other and show each other respect, and are encouraging to each other. I have found that the residents are not only from Pueblo, but also from many areas around Pueblo and other states as well. It's so interesting to speak with them and to hear where they are from, what they did for a living, and about their families. If you are looking for an assisted living center, rehabilitation center, or nursing care, this is the place to bring your parents or loved ones. My family and I are grateful knowing how well our father is taken care of for his remaining years. Thank you Sharmar staff!

Bonaventure is a…read morehorrible place if your loved one needs actual "care"- if they are able to care for themselves fully with no assistance, then it's a beautiful facility. We brought my 95 year old grandmother and she lasted less than 48 hours before we removed her. They charged us over 8 THOUSAND dollars for additional care and "hourly checks" just for me to find her the next day in the same dirty clothes, same depends, not taken to bed or connected to her CPAP or bathed.... 36 HOURS later. Not to mention she almost fell first day and I used the call light and it took over 10 minutes to respond. Yet, the staff was washing walls.... They had time to ensure the facility looked clean, but your loved one will receive zero care. Wasn't greeted, wasn't welcomed and my grandmother was left in the recliner for hours without being fed breakfast as it sat there cold until I came at 4:30 in the afternoon. We immediately removed her after seeing this lack of treatment. Pam the COO and Shelby were helpful and apologetic but the Pueblo staff made excuses such as "they had a meeting" and that's why they couldn't return our calls to check on her. I have photos to prove all of this and just want families in the same situation as us to be fully informed before selecting bonaventure. It's a hard enough decision to leave your loved one when they need additional care and to find them that way 36 hours in is UNACCEPTABLE. They treat the elderly who need more help so undignified. Don't be fooled with a tour. Ask to spend time there and you will see for yourself the residents left to fend for themselves.... Where is the "assisted" living part? Oh and once they get your money, no phone calls are returned.

My cousin spent 3 months in the nursing home side of the Pavilion At Villa. It's hard to adequately…read moredescribe the place. The floor of her side of the room was filthy and sticky when she first moved in...sort of a leftover residue of some velcro attachment. I don't think the floor was cleaned the entire time she was there. The whole hall was in pretty bad shape. Several times I observed the dirty dinner dishes sitting in the cafeteria overnight. Yes, sitting on carts for the entire night. The bathroom sink dripped and was never addressed. It took a lot of prodding on my part to get her basic needs addressed. She had extreme dementia, but the staff either didn't know or chose to act as if they didn't know. After noticing that she hadn't been bathed for over 2 weeks, I was told that she "refused," and there was nothing they could do. I asked them to call me when she refused, had them put it in their notes, and put notes on the wall in her room with my phone number (I had power of attorney and medical power of attorney) so that I could make sure she agreed to be bathed. They never called and seemed more than happy to accept her refusal. My two requests were for her to be bathed at least once a week, and for them to put her phone in the charger at night and give it to her in the morning (she was bed bound). Well, the phone was often not charged for days at a time (calling the nurse's station to request help was usually futile (no answer). Her phone was actually washed, so I had to get her a new one. After about 2 months, we did manage to get her bathed regularly and have her phone available, but it truly took 2 full months to make it happen. She was a pleasant patient with very few needs, so I could never understand the ineptitude and lack of attention to her basic needs being met. Why would it take two months to get into this basic rythm? Sadly she passed after her third month there. I will say that the staff were, for the most part, kind and considerate, at least when I was around. We hear stories about the nightmare of Medicaid nursing home care, and they are true. If you have alternate choices, I encourage you to take them. Sadly, my cousin did not.

The Pavilion at Pueblo Villa is a skilled nursing facility. As with all facilities that deal with…read morepeople, there are strengths and concerns. There are amenities such as a chapel, beauty salon, and activities.These are the thing that were pluses when I toured the facility. However, their food service had much to be desired.The residents have to wait 30 to 60 minutes to be served. Residents are wheeled to the dining room only to wait. They could stream line the process by asking the residents what they want for dinner prior to being wheeled into the dining room. They could learn a lot from anyone who works in a school lunch room. Since this is a for profit business, they don't have enough staff. They can really use a hand during meal times. With that being said, when I called to advise them of my concerns they were kind and said they would work to correct my concerns. The next time I visited during meal time things were much improved, but they still need school cafeteria staff to help them stream line the whole process.
