First time coming to puffers, for a waxing service done by Rebecca. I've been waxing for two years pervious to this, never have I experienced a wax like this. Maybe she needs to go back to wax training especially if she going to work in a supposedly high quality salon. I was in so much pain, she did a patchy job. When she was ripping off the wax she would almost play with it before she ripped it off. My skin was being torn off. On top of everything she wasn't pleasant to be around, her tone was rude almost like it was my fault for the pain I was in. To me it looked like she couldn't care less how she was doing her job. I visited Puffer's today for a hydra facia with Rebecca. This was my first facial in over 10 years, and my skin was absolutely in need! I decided to treat myself for the New Year, as I recently received a couple of gift cards to use towards it. The entire experience was amazing, from beginning to end. Rebecca was extremely helpful, talented, and friendly throughout the entire process. There was even an arm/hand and leg/foot massage at the end! I tru felt pampered! Also, my face feels amazing! I requested a a hot curling and a darker shade for my eyelashes. Didn't turn out well at all and the staff were so cold and without personality that I felt uncomfortable. I tried to make pleasant conversation with little to no interaction or response. Not one single smile throughout my session and quite expensive for something so simple was done in a hurry. I've been going here I think for about 15 years. It's the only place that can cut my hair correctly (I have fine, pin-straight hair). It's not cheap, but the results are fantastic. Everyone that works at this Aveda salon is super friendly, you get scalp massages before they wash your hair, there is a full service spa upstairs (I've only used the massage services and as the other reviewer said, Jen is excellent, but you generally have to book well in advance). One downside is that they are in high demand, so you may have to book your appointments far in advance if you want a certain stylist and time of day. It's very popular for bridal parties and proms and is well-known as the place to go to fix bad color or cuts. Overall, the service is impeccable and they know me well! This review is about the spa portion, not the salon. At almost 30, I've never done the spa thing. I guess I just couldn't justify the cost, but my dad thought otherwise and got me a gift certificate for the Caribbean Energizer. Scheduling the appointment was easy and I got a reminder both via text and call a few days prior. Since it was already paid for, I just checked in when I arrived and went upstairs to wait. The therapist was a few minutes late to come fetch me, but I decided to let it slide as I was trying to be in "spa mode" and relax. She explained everything to me, bringing me into the massage room first before showing me to the shower room to change. The bathrobe was so stiff and scratchy. Fortunately I was only in it for a minute or so until I disrobed for my salt and sugar scrub. The scrub was luxurious, and I opted for the stomach scrub as well. I guess some people are squeamish and don't want their stomachs exposed but I was set on taking full advantage of this experience. I liked that she covered my eyes with a tissue and eye pillow while I was on my back. I realized why I was given such a crappy robe once the scrub was done and I had to put the robe back on in order to walk back to the shower room to rinse off and enjoy a 15-minute aromatic steam shower. I didn't notice any aromas but the steam was exhilarating. There are shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower so you can really clean up. After the shower and sitting in the steam (which I ended up turning off early because I was dying of heat), I got to switch into a less stiff/scratchy robe. I went back into the massage room for the full body massage. She used hot stones and they were heavenly. I know I dozed off for a while, and I didn't want it to end. It was the best nap. Of course, all good things come to an end and eventually she whispered to take my time and meet her outside the room. She asked how I felt, and I gushed that it was wonderful and although I though massages and spa treatments were frivolous, I think I needed it. She brought me a second glass of water (I was parched) and let me sit and relax in the sitting area until I was ready to get dressed. All-in-all, it was a very positive experience. I would go back again if I was given another gift certificate, but I'm just not the type of person to spend $100+ on pampering myself. I miss Puffer's. A lot. I got my hair cut at Puffer's from the time I was 5. Rochelle is great! She always cut my hair the way I asked even when I decided to chop nearly a foot off when I was 13. Massages at Puffer's are THE BEST! To this day, every massage I get is compared to Jen. She's really strong and can actually get all the knots out of my back. Very Disappointed in Puffers' their Scheduling, and their consideration for customers. I scheduled a Facial, 2 months ahead of time, and at 9am that morning of the facial, they canceled. I suggested 2 other dates, 3 weeks away, and no again, could not schedule a facial,. I had a hair appointment scheduled also, and asked if they could accommodate me, and make it easier in the day... I was told no, and therefore I also canceled that. I had a gift certificate, and was told, I could use it on product, or a manicure and pedicure... But that was not what I wanted. Went here on the recommendation of a friend. I'm from out of town and normally my choice nail salon feeds me snacks, free wine, tea, water and soda and gives me great shellac manicures. I was desperate to get in before a formal event so I took a mani pedi appointment and thought nothing of it. The manicure portion was nothing special and the pedicure I saw in a massage chair- pretty standard. I took extra care to be sure my nails dried before leaving hit a week later my shellac was peeling! And upon closer inspection of my pedicure, the polish didn't even cover the whole nail on some toes! At my place I normally get a little leg/ hand massage, but not here. I had doen tea, but it was cold. And my total was over $100! I emailed them and they told me they guarantee their shellac manicures, so I was able to get a refund. But I hear there are much better places and for way less. read more

So I had appointment for a massage this past weekend. They were busy and there was a bridal party in there. I had to wait which is fine but I feel like that cut into my time. I felt like my massage was rushed. I've had them before here and this was just different. She didn't rub my feet, or my scalp or temples, barely my neck. All in all I really feel like I played $65 for someone to rub oil on me with slight pressure. I just wasn't thrilled, my back hurts a lot and I really needed this and was disappointed. The massage was really good but way to short! my appointment was at 2, the masseuse called me in at 2:10 and I was downstairs checking out in the reception area by 3 on the dot. It was supposed to be a 50 minute maternity massage, I was also quoted that it would be $60 when I went to pay it was $75. The salon is beautiful, however I felt cheated for what I paid for. I used Puffer's Salon for my wedding hair and makeup, as did my mother, grandmother, mother in law, and bridesmaids. We are from out of town and weren't familiar with any businesses in the area (we got married a town over). I'm very glad I chose Puffer's! Morgan really worked with me in finding a time that worked well with my busy work schedule to come in for my hair and make up trial. She also was really flexible when I changed my mind multiple times on what services I wanted to schedule and what family and bridal party members would be joining me. Sarah did such a beautiful job with both my hair (I opted for an up do) and makeup and really listened to me when I explained to her what I was envisioning. All the staff were so friendly and really did a great job with working with my family and bridal party, who are very diverse in age and hairstyles. My grandmother is older and was really nervous about getting her hair and makeup done, everyone made her feel so comfortable, made her make up look natural, and she ended up looking beautiful. The staff also provided us with a table and glasses for drinks and snacks, which made us all feel more at ease and enjoy ourselves even more. The serves stuck to the schedule we agreed upon and all of our hair and makeup was done on time so we didn't have to rush off to our venue. Puffer's Salon staff are wonderful and I would definitely recommend them for event hair and makeup! read more

I been around the block when it comes to salons and hair stylist. My spouse is military and I'm well versed at the challenges of finding new places every few years, all over the country and even overseas. I checked out two other area salons for various services with mediocre to downright terrible results. Aveda salons have usually been a safe bet over the years, so I decided to drive a bit out of my way to check out Puffers. First, I had a stellar pedicure there! I loved the quiet spa area upstairs, especially the separate, private pedi area. The tech did a great job, allowed me to relax, bagged up my one-time-use pedi tools to take home. And the polish looked fantastic for a month! From this experience I took the plunge and booked an appointment for a cut. I explained to the receptionist that I was looking to cut all my hair off and wanted a stylist who was good at short cuts. She quickly made a recommendation and I was booked for the following week. I can't remember my stylist name but she honestly gave me the BEST hair cut I've had in 5+ years!! Seriously. She listened to all my requests, concerns, likes and dislikes and whipped up the exact cut I needed. It was super easy to style, but best of all, it grew out beautifully! I'm so bummed that we had to move and I've seriously contemplated making the hour drive back out to Puffers! read more

My little sister got married down the street this summer and chose Puffer's Salon for her wedding day hair and makeup. From the trial to the wedding day, they made the whole process seemless AND gorgeous! My sister worked with Morgan, the coordinator, who worked really hard to make sure we had a great time. They set up a private area for the bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom to relax while we got beautified. My sister saw Sarah for hair and make-up, who was so professional and made her look absolutely stunning. They gave me a tour of the spa area, which is GORGEOUS- I can't wait to get back here for a spa day. I came home last week for Thanksgiving and my high school reunion and unfortunately my luggage with all of my clothes and make-up, shampoos, etc. was delayed (lost?!) by two days. I made a call that evening to Puffer's Salon & Day Spa and left a message asking them if they could fit me in. To my delight, the next morning I received a call saying to come on in. I was so excited knowing that I was in good hands with Judy, an amazing hair stylist and her make up team. I left feeling beautiful and looking great. My first experience at this salon, and definitely my last. Went to get my hair cut using a gift card that my wonderful husband gave me for Mother's Day. After waiting nearly 25 minutes past my appointment time, I walked out. What kind of salon that charges over 50 dollars for a hair cuts lets their stylists be this late for an appointment? I have to say that I was disappointed...twice. After returning to MA after 15 yrs, I was excited to return to this Salon. After a promising consult, my first appt I was misinformed and quoted incorrectly only to be further told that my new stylist didn't have enough time to take care of my needs and suggested I make 2 visits the following month or she "didn't care if I saw another stylist ". A few weeks later, I decided that I would just try again with another stylist for 1 visit who could accommodate a color, cut and a few highlights. I set up another consult. An hr before my appt., I received a call from the salon saying my new potential stylist was running late and asked me to come in at a later time. I explained I had another appt. after being placed on hold, I was asked to come in 15 minutes earlier than scheduled. Having a 45 minute commute, I hurried and managed to arrive right on time. I waited 15 minutes, which brought me to my original appt time. 5 more minutes went by, I asked the receptionist when I would be seen and informed her that I came in early to the appt as requested. After 30 minutes passed by, I decided I was finished. No one acknowledged me, until a half hour after I left, I received a voicemail where I was asked if I'd want to reschedule. I always book my hair appointments with Judy when I'm back in town. I always get great service and got a massage with facial and lash extensions at my last visit. I wish I found them sooner. I would have saved so much money because my old hair dresser at another salon was so pushy and made me buy services and products I didn't even need. They are not pushy at Puffers which I love because they know their services and staff speak for themselves. I wish I could find a place like this closer to home. read more

If you're debating it, go. This place is amazing! Everything was perfect: the services, hospitality and the little details. The entire staff was pleasant, helpful and fun! The steam shower is a great touch! Massage and facial were ridiculously relaxing. The spa itself is tranquil, intimate and comfortable. I am extremely particular about my nails (nothing short of a perfectionist), and the final product of my manicure and pedicure are perfect! The pedicure room is amazing. We brought a bottle of wine (great suggestion). The pedicure room is dark, relaxing, private and so enjoyable. It was the perfect end to our day! An additional benefit are the prices (it was unbelievably reasonable). Thank you Puffers for a fabulous day! We will certainly be back! read more

i went to this place for eyelash extensions for about two years. it was a little bit pricy but i loved the results and got addicted to it so fast. one whole session is 1 and half hour and it costs $85. the refill has to be done every 3 weeks and 1 day more they will charge you $350. everything was great until the last two times i went there, the aesthetician showed up about 10 minutes late and she let me out of the room 20 minutes earlier. of course each time there were less lashes left and at the end of three weeks i almost lost all of it. the first time i didn't say anything(now i wish i had) i thought to myself she might have had a bad day or something. but the last time i was there i already had lost so many lashes because she did not wanted to work 1 and half hour, so when she told me she is done and i checked the time i was so mad. i confronted her and surprisingly enough she told me that she has another appointment in 20 minutes and she needs to get ready for that!! and told me if i am unhappy with the results i can book another appointment in a week for another $85. at the front desk i tried to explain the situation and even asked to talk to the manager and the receptionist told me she is busy with a guest. and that they will contact me in a day a so. long story short 2 weeks later and still nobody has called me. they always asked me at the check out if i want to make another appointment but they did not the last time. so basically the last two time that i was there for two lash extension refills, i was in the room for 1 hour instead of 1 hour and half and i paid the full price, then asked to talk to the manager and apparently she does not have time for clients. this is my story after going there every three weeks for the past two years. read more
