Confession: I am a home decor/cute stationary/ jewelry junkie. This adorable new shop in Downtown Newberg offers a variety of products I desperately need. I am an avid shopper and have frequented similar stores all over the US, so it is with great confidence that I can say Pulp & Circumstance is one of the best. It is lovingly and beautifully curated by co owners and friends Jennifer & Ashley. I was doing business in the neighborhood and noticed they were finally open (I peeked in their window last week) and today is their grand opening. The store is located inside of a beautiful Victorian house that has been expertly transformed into about 1,000 sq feet of retail space. There are three major rooms that house a variety of items including but not limited to: fresh flowers, air plants, succulents, books, at least 100 (very cute, often letterpress) cards, stationary, baby gifts, jewelry, candy by the pound, jewelry, mirrors, art, etc. Best of all some of the wares are from local artists and businesses. Many of the items here I have never seem before, and I easily spent a hour familiarizing myself with my new go to place for gifts, small home decor items and cards. Does it sounds like the owners here are my very best friends? Well they are not (yet). Today was the first time I met these two remarkably charming and welcoming gals in my community. I am looking forward to future chats about the happenings in the Berg (we traded information about what other businesses are coming to town including a bakery and restaurant this summer). I picked up two mirrors, a postcard, a camping cookbook, a Father's Day card, a wedding card and a thank you card set. And I will likely be back tonight for their official grand opening party with my husband. If you're looking for a calming, nice atmosphere with a great variety of goods, than I definitely recommend this place! Pulp & Circumstance has multiple rooms that have many different things you can get such as Candy, Crystals, Candles, Plant-life Items, Games, Books, and more! I personally can't speak on the Bed and Breakfast side of this place since I've never experienced it, but if you're not from Newberg and want a place to take home some great souvenirs I highly recommend P&C. The people working the front desk are always the nicest (and also have incredible music taste) and make sure you're happy with what you got. The only thing I'd have to say is that they are a tad bit on the more expensive side with some of the items there, but it also makes sense because most of it is local stuff! I'm also a high schooler without a job so more stuff is expensive to me haha, but it's definitely worth the stop. One of my favorite places to go to in Newberg with friends :) read more

Quick Review- 3.0 Service- Not friendly or welcoming. Did not greet us when we walked in the door. They were having some sort of inventory meeting during opening hours so patrons were basically ignored. No hello, no good-bye. example of items: -VW themed gift items -Cards -basic wooden signs made out of fence boards -old fashioned candy -mugs -Oregon themed items. I appreciate a gift shop that sells local artisan creations. I can tell they really focus in on store fixtures and how things are displayed. They need to work on their price points on some items to stay competitive. Patrons can walk down the street and find similar or more ornate items for a lower price point. This store was cool. It has the potential to become awesome given a few improvements and changes to the inventory and use of space. I will check back in a couple of years. read more

I love to support local businesses when I can! Love, love, love this place! I've found many gifts for the loves in my life at this shop! They really have something for everyone in your life...and even yourself! From cool kitchen gadgets, nice silver, old school candy and toys for little ones, and homemade local pottery! They also have cookbooks, crafted leather goods for the stud in your life, and art made by locals. They also carry an array of paper goods from cards, to gift wrap, twine and cute little chalkboards.... The air plants are one of my favs! You should visit often as they are always rotating goods in and out. This is one of those shops where you can't put off "buying" it the next time your in, because it won't be there next time! I drove to Newberg and did half of my Christmas shopping here this year. This sweet shop always has exactly what I need for my sisters or girlfriends. It features jewelry from many of my favorite local artists (like A Tea Leaf) and has lots of good ideas for other holiday gifts. Thankfully, the section with children's gifts keeps my kids occupied so I can shop for the grown up gifts. If you like to find unique beautiful gifts for birthday or holiday, I don't think you'll be disappointed with this place. read more

Cute store with unique gifts. Thought I would visit the store today as there was a "Shop Hop 2019 event. Walked in the store and out of the 4 woman working up at the counter and pouring wine, no one greeted me, asked me if I wanted a glass of wine...Meh, ok...continued walking around the store and found a few things to buy.. I head up to the counter and the lady up the register did not say a single word to me except to tell me the amount. No hi, did you find everything ok, or thank you. The 3 other woman were STILL huddled together talking about pregnancy. The cashier couldn't get back to the others fast enough. So rude! I'm here supporting local businesses and I was so disgusted in my visit. I almost returned the items. I won't be back! Do yourself a favor and dont take part in an event if you can't provide a welcoming feel to your customers. ‍BTW Nikki Jane's, Rain Dance Market Place, Dayton Mercantile far exceeded what your staff did. read more

I also loved the feel of the space, the staff was welcoming and warm and the wide array of items for sale were reasonably priced to boot. This is such a darling boutique in a renovated old house - full of beautiful items. Staff is friendly and helpful. I have always found the perfect gift here! We were pleasantly greeted on arrival and enjoyed the humor on some of the cards and signs. The assortment of available gifts and cards covered a great spectrum of events and situations, and I was pleased to find an item or two to purchase. I was impressed by the relatively low prices, and the cleanliness and organization of the store (compared to Janis', which is an overwhelming nightmare to navigate, in my opinion). I make the drive to Newberg from West Linn just to go to this gift shop! I discovered it while going to George Fox, and it's been my favorite ever since.
