The bathroom was especially frightening. I didn't even feel comfortable using the one toilet in the men's room, it smelt horrible and was very, very dirty. The sink looked like it was falling. I can't speak for locals (who may have a different experience/expectation) but as a traveler I thought that the comfortable air conditioned workout room and ample equipment selection were great. It is a smaller gym but there are plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals and a couple of stationary bikes) as well as a good selection of machines and free weights. The locker room is clean and spacious. You do have to bring a towel or you can buy/rent one from the front desk. Although I didn't go at a peak time, the floor was pretty active with a few muscle twinks ("eye candy") who were polite but they did tend to hog key pieces of equipment (leg press and squat rack). Social distancing and mask wearing were strictly enforced.

Basic items like towels and napkins took all day and multiple calls to receive. The resort felt neglected -- no music, no entertainment, closed stores, and poorly placed lounge chairs with no view. Even the beach setup was inconvenient and far from the water. Worst of all, the entire experience felt like a marketing tactic to pressure guests into upgrading. Rooms we purchased years ago still aren't built, and we weren't informed about changes like needing to book our own airport transportation. For the price, this was unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here or purchasing a membership!

The Yogi Bar takes credit cards, didn't make me sick, is air conditioned, has wifi, and has a working (and clean) bathroom. What more can you ask for? The service was friendly enough (not "american friendly," but polite and patient), and there is an english version of the menu for everyone who failed Spanish in high school.
